The $10 off coupon worked on Enchanted at Walmart. Picked it up for $14.96 plus tax. Also printed out the target page that has I Am Legend for $18.96 and the girl would't do that for me at Wal-Mart. I'll have to take it to Best Buy later!

Isn't that coupon just for No country for old men? Or is there a different one?

So basically everything is completed for the HD one just got to press the disks? /stare

My guess?

Toshiba was subsidizing (at least in part) replication costs as part of the deal for Paramount to go HD DVD. That is now no longer the case.

To contract replication, a certain minimum amount of copies need to be ordered ... so I would guess that they looked at what the cost would be versus how many sales they think they'd get ... and it probably looks to be a money losing situation.

there's another one, what steve posted. It works for me as I have to get both copies anyway. don't forget the $5 BB coupons too. Worked great for me last week.

Watched "Into the Wild" on SD the other night, and now I'm debating on whether to get it on HD. It seems like a movie that I would watch at least once a year, since it has a good road movie, where it provides you with a sense of freedom that comes with being on the road... that and it's very lyrical, and interesting.

Anyone have this title?

I liked the movie itself quite a bit, it also looks pretty good, I agree with HiDef's 4/5 video quality. Some of the vistas look great on the HD DVD, but the special features are bare bones and only in SD.

If you like the movie that much and intend to get multiple viewings out of it I won't dissuade you from the double dip, I would imagine not having seen the SD version myself, that its a different experience in HD.

Enchanted is such a better movie AND disc than I Am Legend. Shame that people are so hyped for I Am Legend.

Well not me. I am only planing on buying Enchanted. I have not seen it yet and some people I can trust have endorsed it. I am Legend was just passable. Could have been a much better movie.

Netflix has been treating me good lately. Enchanted on BR arrived today.

Damn they sent you my copy! I had Enchanted, Yuma, 30 Days of Night, and Hitman all on the top of my list. I'm getting Jesus Camp (DVD) instead. :/

What size should that Enchated coupon be, when printed?

I'm so torn on that movie - I want to have it because its reviewed great and it looks great, but I'm scared that I won't like it because of all the singing parts it apparently has. If I can get it for $16, the decision will be much easier though.

I doubt Walmart in Canada will accept that coupon though...

I got Enchanted and Southland Tales (dvd) today from Netflix. They almost always send me new releases if they're in my queue by Monday.

There are only three singing parts, one of which is animated.

almost all of the singing parts from the commercials are comedy bits because people don't sing in real life. The person singing is usually interrupted before they can really begin so it just looks like there are a lot of them.

Monday is the key, for sure. Even though the retail release is on Tuesday, if they are at the top of your queue on Monday, and you have a slot open for a movie, then it seems pretty easy to get them.

I send mine back on Saturday, gets entered into the system as being returned on Monday morning, and the next movie (new release usually due for Tuesday) gets sent by the afternoon.

I almost had I Am Legend up top, but my wife wanted to Enchanted a little more since she's not a fan of any scary-type movie. We are both suckers for NYC based movies (having grown up here) though.

Picked up Ratatouille and The Game Plan during Target's BOGO. Surprisingly they had Appleseed Ex Machina so I grabbed that as well.

Got I am Legend for 18.88 thanks to the walmart.com printout at Best Buy:D
Best Buy pricematched an online ad?

Oh man. I didn't know that was possible.

(you ended up spending more than amazon though with gas and tax :) )

just finished watching 30 Days of Night for the first time, really liked it, totally cool film, looks awesome on bluray too. enjoyed enough to sit through all the extras right after. I'd say its a must own title in the current bluray library.

why so many people buying I am legend??? did you all actually like the film? I found it pathetic, I actually fastforwarded parts of it. shame as it had potentia.

didnt plan this but the 2 films I've just mentioned are perfect examples of how to make a modern vampire film and how NOT to make one.

also applies to how to adapt a novel.

That's kind of funny, considering you liked 30 Days of Night. Different strokes and all that...

there's nothing redeeming about I am legend though for me. it's trying to be about isolation, struggle against unbelievable odds yet he's actually rather comfortable in the film. They didnt even know where he lived, he was never in jeopardy as long as he stuck to routine... it missed its mark and for me its neither about vampires or survival...or anything the book covers either.

30 Days was awesome, great tone, I had no idea how it would play out and it achieved its goal to be an entertaining and slightly different take on a vampire film. I'd say it did what I am legend was trying to do, can understand why some wouldn't like it, but then....what horror/vampire film will you like nowadays?

WTF Sony? Now that you won the battle you can farm out your BRD covers to high school kids using Paint Shop Pro?

Why in jebus's name do you care about the cover to that rancid POS?

Just watched Enchanted. What's up with the animation at the beginning having black bars on the side? Throughout the rest of the movie it didn't do this except at the beginning?

Of course I had to get both of the top tier Blu Ray releases today - I don't know if I'll enjoy Enchanted, but Disney is top of the line in picture quality.

Isnt the opening sequence supposed to be a tribute to very old disney animation? That would explain the different framing used. Lots of older movies have an aspect ratio of 4:3 or so. It wasnt until television became common that movies switched to wider aspect ratios.

The film starts in 2.35:1 aspect ratio when the Walt Disney Pictures logo and Enchanted storybook are shown, and then switches to a smaller 1.85:1 aspect ratio for the first animated scenes. The film switches back to the first aspect ratio when the film becomes live-action.
they did it for a reason, but I can't seem to find said reason right now. Wait for Manabyte and his usual surly response. :p

Response was above. That was the aspect ratio of the old Disney movies. :)

Can anyone post a link to the Enchanted coupon? I found the NCfOM one just fine, but not this...

Enchanted was actually much better than I thought it would be - it's just one of those movies that make you feel good after watching it.

Well, 30 Days of Night actually has a talented writer and director behind it, and is a successful adaptation of a popular graphic novel. It also has some good acting performaces minus Josh Hartnett.

I Am Legend was adapted for the screen by HACKIVA GOLDSMAN, and is directed by mediocre director and current WB resident hack Francis Lawrence (Constantine). It also stars Will "Aw Hell Naw" Smith.
