Nobody cared when I commented a couple of weeks ago about how great this release of HTWWW is, perhaps because there weren't any pics. :)

To be fair, the DVD comparison shot is from the original disc, which was a mess. The new DVD doesn't look anywhere near that bad, but yeah, the Blu-ray is as close to reference as it gets: one of the best transfers on the format, period. As far as Westerns go, the movie will seem a bit "quaint" for many people here, but I think it's highly entertaining and the sort of humongous all-star project that we'll never really see again.

I said wow.

I saw The Mist last night. Not really, I couldn't stand it and quit about halfway through and just went straight to the end. Oh wow, that has to be the worst ending I've seen in a long time, and that includes NCFOM and TWBB. The movie is a mess and the picture quality is crap. I didn't see it in theaters so I don't know if it was intentional, but there was distracting grain and the colors were off.

Since I still had time to kill, I saw Unforgiven. Looked great, great movie. At least last night wasn't a total waste, HD movie-wise.

yeah The Mist is such an irritating film in that sense, but the crazy human interactions are probably pretty realistic and predictable imo, people do stupid shit.

But the comedy of human errors and stupidity on display is like " (¬_¬) Really? " buckets of gasoline/petrol on the floor with mops in? Really? Why do you need the bucket? You're not gonna double dip the flaming mop for a petrol top up.

But it was watchable, seems like it would make a very boring book though.

I don't get this, how would it being in b+w make it better?

it just is...really.
it really reminded me of the older monster movies and the fading in/out transitions and pacing and characters give it so much more of a creepy vibe. the b&w version is frank darabont's prefered version also.

Pretty much take the problems Van mentioned about the picture quality and throw them out the window with the black and white version. Contrast is great, everything is clear. It also adds a certain feel as a throwback to older films of similar genre.

did this just happen?
I don't know. I wasn't aware of any Blu Ray player for $199, much less a Sony.

They also have a ton of movie sales going on, from 3for2 to 50 and 40 percent off. Not as good as BOGO, but definitely the best stuff we've seen all year. The holidays must be around the corner. :D

quite a substantial adjustment on a lot of titles.

I thought Amazon got rid of the preorder price guarantee?

No, they dropped the post-order/post-shipping price matching/dropping. You still always get the lowest pre-order price between when you order to when it ships.

lol. I bought the 1st season on DVD just recently (though I haven't received it yet from amazon).

i've been pretty wary of buying tv shows lately. especially big ones like dexter because I just know eventually they will get an HD release and it's hard enough trying to sell old dvd's, but I can't imagine people wanting to buy entire seasons of television shows.

I'm still waiting for fox to get off their hands and get me all the seasons of 24 on blu ray. my uncle is waiting for me to sell mine for cheap so they need to hurry haha.

I just got Run Fatboy Run and no iPod or mac support for the digital copy. It's a Warner movie..

What DOES it support? I have an iPhone, PsP, and Zune. Surely one of those has to be supported.

And I thought that all digital copy stuff was done through iTunes. How is this one handled?

You get a code in the case and you enter it in the screen that pops up after you put the DVD in your PC.

I love Gizmodo's Blu-ray round-up for this week.

Some of you may already have the trilogy on DVD (or even VHS), but a year was spent remastering the Godfather movies frame by frame for this Blu-ray release under the strict watch of Coppola himself. The new collection goes for about $80, but features all sorts of new extras along with rehashes from the original DVD collection if you never picked that up. Godfather not your thing? You're an idiot. But there's lots of other stuff out this week as well:

wow at How the West was Won. I guess after this and 2001 we can put to rest the "HD doesn't benefit old movies" ? :lol

GF picked up Sex and the City today... I know you guys are dying for a review. Will post impressions later (if I don't kill myself).

I got this in the mail today, too. Primarily for the wife, but I loved the TV series and would really like to watch the film.

Holy crap: $199 Blu Ray player, plus get $50 off when you buy 3 select WB movies.

Amazon is insane.

Even better, if you get 3 of WB movies listed under the 3 WB movies get 1 free PS3 remote deal they all combine.

What?

That explains why Tower shipped Sex and the City last week, but held off on Iron Man.

People are having a hard time getting the disc with the movie to read. Some people complained of over 2 to 3 minutes of loading before the movie comes up.

I'd rather have it next week and have that problem than wait another several weeks. I need my Iron Man BD now!

I'm downloading the digital copy of Sex and the City the Movie on iTunes right now.

I saw speed racer last night. WOW. WOW.

I had to turn the tv's lamp mode to natural from bright because it was honestly too much and I was getting a headache. The movie is ridiculously sharp and colorful. Perfect HD showcase material. The movie itself wasn't as bad as I was led to believe by the garbage marketing they did for it and the reviews that came out. The sound was disappointing considering it's a racing movie, but I'll still pick this up if I find it on sale.

posted in gaming but most don't read there. Selling an open Heroes Season 1 blu ray box set, 60 shipped and a copy of The Mist blu ray, 20 shipped, PM me.

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/Universal/Exclusive_HD_Content/Hellboy_II_Blu-ray_to_Include_Exclusives,_BD-Live/2111

Universal has unveiled final specs for the two-disc Blu-ray release of 'Hellboy II: The Golden Army,' which will hit high-def with hours of exclusive content and DTS-MA 7.1 audio.

As previously announced, the $75 million-grossing fantasy sequel will make its Blu-ray debut on November 18 (day-and-date with the standard DVD) in two-disc special edition and 3-disc limited edition versions.

Now full specs are in for the two-disc version, which is sure to impress fans with its wealth of features. Confirmed extras include a pair of audio commentaries with director Guillermo del Toro, and cast Jeffrey Tambor, Selma Blair & Luke Gross, multiple featurettes ("Hellboy: In Service of the Demon," "Troll Market Tour with Guillermo del Toro," "Production Workshop"), deleted scenes (including an animated "Comic Zinco Epilogue" to the film), a "Comic Book Builder" interactive feature, multiple still galleries, the complete script, and Digital Copy.

Exclusive to the Blu-ray are numerous U-Control and BD-Live extras, including the "Scene Explorer: Schufftan Google View" mode, the "Director's Notebook" featurette, additional "Set Visits" footage, a conceptual art gallery, MyChat and MyScenes BD-Live functionality, and more exclusive content to be made available online with the disc launches.

Tech specs boast a BD-50 dual-layer presentation of the film in 1080p video and English DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 Surround.

Though Universal has not yet confirmed details for the three-disc set, it is expected to contain all of the features of the two-disc plus additional extras and collectibles to be announced. We'll keep you posted.

Easily one of my most anticipated disc. The movie was great.

Looks like Best Buy has the best deal on the Iron Man BD assuming the new non-recalled discs make it to retailers in time. They have it for 25.99 while Target is 27.99 and Circuit City is 29.99.

So who else needs to rob an armored car to take care of all their bluray purchases this fall ?

kill bill 1/2 (60)
iron man (30)
halloween starter pack(2003 dawn of the dead, the thing, land of the dead)(90)
comedy collection(40 year old virgin, knocked up, forgetting sarah marshell)(90)
beetlejuice(25)
benders game(25)
wall e(30)
hellboy 2(30)
austin powers trilogy(70)
dr. strangelove(25)
dark knight(30)

This is only the stuff I'm fairly sure I want to buy too.. well other then the halloween pack, I may just grab The Thing and skip the package. Even with some deals buying all that will cost around 400 bucks :(

My order of Godfather and Ocean's trilogies shipped yesterday. The lack of 3for2 pisses me off since I would have gotten something else for free.

There's a bunch of stuff I want between now and January too, but money's tight. After ordering Matrix trilogy and Band of Brothers, I will have to hold off on many things.

With the Iron Man recall hoopla going around, should it be okay if I order it now or should I wait a little bit?
