I see you have Troy and Gladiator, but not Kingdom of Heaven (DC) or Braveheart. You should be able to find them for $10 or less (I assume you're in the states). Go now.

ha i actually have kingdom of heaven, duno y its not in the pic tho D:

Oh, why not.

I have slipcovers for a number of these (including Chuck S2, which is on its way back from Warner Home Video), but I store those separately.

Amazon helped me go from 0-60 on my Blu-ray collection after Halloween. It's kind of crazy how many I have now. Still, even counting most of the TV sets (not Band of Brothers, Firefly, or The Prisoner), these were ~$15 or less each.

Outside of the slow-mo close-up shots, Hurt Locker looked really flat. Very disappointing PQ :-/

I just popped my copy in and watched the opening sequence, and I have to disagree with you. As far as I can remember, the Blu-ray looks just like the theatrical version did. Admittedly, it's not exactly a HD showcase, but the picture quality is just fine.

I forgot about Moon coming out this week. Do any stores have it on sale or am I going to have to spend almost $30 to see it?

Is there anything wrong with the packaging for the prisoner on bluray? It's been removed off of amazon...

Not that I'm aware of. It comes in a multi-disc case with two discs on either side of several hinged sections within, similar to the Star Trek: TOS Blu-ray releases. It didn't seem overly unstable to me, but at least one guy on Amazon had problems with it, which may have activated some sort of review process.

In other news, Shout! Factory has licensed a slew of Roger Corman titles for both DVD and Blu-ray release to go along with the May 4th release of Piranha. Two Blu-rays of note: Rock 'N Roll High School will be released on May 4th and Death Race 2000 on June 22nd. I am incredibly stoked.

I really dislike the UK cover art for Up. As if it wasn't enough that I wasn't allowed to import it - even though they get my money either way - and had to wait months on end. The blue border just kills it. It's nice for them to include a digital copy, but was it worth it?

So... it's 2010. Where is Titanic on bluray :/
It's possible that they could wait until 2012. That'll be the 15th anniversary of the film, and also the 100th anniversary of the actual sinking.

I bought The Hurt Locker and watched it last night. Fantastic movie. Best part was the sniper duel.

I liked the PQ and the audio was very good. It did not look overly processed, which seems to be the trend in movies now.

I have:
Playstation 3 using HDMI
Xbox 360 using HDMI
Wii using Component

When the PS3 is playing, the Pioneer Receiver says PCM.

Is this the high audio codec of True HD / DTS HD?

The PS3 could be internally decoding the TrueHD/DTS HD formats and outputting them as PCM to the receiver. You could confirm this by hitting Select on the PS3 controller when a movie is playing and see what it says the Audio format is. You could set the PS3 to bitstream, so that your receiver handles the decoding, but I don't think there's a big advantage either way.

Why did everyone buy the Matrix 10th Anniversary edition when it was around $30? The Ultimate Matrix Collection set crashed to around $50 in sales over the last few months. :( No matter how much you loathed Revolutions, having Reloaded's action scenes in Bluray and having the Animatrix around has to be worth $20, right? :)

I'll join the party; sorry for the awful photo quality. All I have's my phone atm.

Lost Season 5 was a gift; I'm going to have to figure out what to do with it, since I'm inevitably going to be getting the full set on Bluray whenever that drops this year or next.

Pretty sure I got The Matrix for $15.

Ah, awesome. Actually, I think the sale was only in Canada on the larger set. And I'm in the minority here with loving Reloaded, so yeah, haha.

Original PS3 doesn't bitstream the high def codecs.

I just realized how annoyed I am at the English/French labeling on some bluray/dvd spines. Goddamn, that's ugly.

My mild OCD kicks in when I realize some of my favorite films that I own are on HD-DVD (thankfully acquired for pretty cheap).

Batman Begins, V for Vendetta, Children of Men, Eternal Sunshine...

edit-

Props on Cloverfield, Cajole. Such an intense film to watch every now and then. :) Total blast.

Oe, let me join in the showing off collection party.

Oh,and i have perfectly good excuses for the crappy movies in the collection :lol

Here's mine. Sorry for the iPhone picture quality but my proper camera isn't charged.

The 24 box sets at the bottom are the start of my DVDs, so ignore them. Also Kingdom of Heaven isn't in there because I'm watching it at the moment and so it's somewhere on my TV stand.

I just wonder because the Planet Earth set I have is one case. Where did you get that one?

never mind, I see all of the ratings on the spines so I assume it's a European release.

Well, there's a carton box around it.
But you're right, it's the Dutch release

I've been hearing allot about the So-So quality of Chuck 2nd Season on BluRay. Would it be better just to simply get the DVD?

So, is prisoner worth it on bluray for $50? I'm torn whether I should get it or hold off...

Show is fantastic and it beats the dvd release 6-0. I really don't see reason why not to buy it. Oh, and I would go with the UK release because of the fancy box art. Not sure if the UK release is region free so you should probably check that out if you are going to buy the UK BD.

Is there a list of BRs that are full screen? I'd probably by a good amount of them regardless of the title lol
Dark Knight's IMAX scenes are 16:9, all of Pixar's are, and I think Crank is 16:9.

No they're not. Off the top of my head, Monsters Inc is the only Pixar movie currently on BD that's not 2.35:1.
