Cool. So they've cut off people with legacy HDTVs to close a hole that doesn't really matter because pirates can just rip the video in perfect quality straight from the disc. Always thinking of the customer.

yep ... pretty much

Do it. Shit extras though.
Actually, the There Will Be Blood blu ray has a really great extra, it's a pretty long reel of various authentic newsreel footage from that era in HD, set to Johnny Greenwood's score. It's kind of trippy, very haunting.

Amazon has the Sin City Blu Ray for $16.99 and Coraline for $9.99. That's two great movies at awesome prices, gaf.

Shit, those are really tempting, and I haven't been really tempted by a blu-ray deal in ages... must resist, must resist!

watched all Star Trek special features and commentary this weekend. I almost feel bad I paid less than $10 for it. One of the greatest blus I have the pleasure of owning.

Anyone get Minority Report on blu-ray? The PQ looks incredible. I think I'm going to buy it along with the re-released Saving Private Ryan blu. Can't wait.

Home video has got to be one of the most lucrative businesses out there, it's like studios printing money re-releasing their catalog titles with the advent of every new delivery medium.

Yeah the PQ was really good. Sound was nice to. I must say I saw private Ryan with my wife and neither of us noticed the sound issue. Wasn't looking for it and didn't know which scene either.

They don't even wait for new mediums usually.

Hasn't Seven been on Bluray forever? It's $10 CDN up here and has been for months. Different cover though. I can't imagine we got it before the States?

I mean, clearly this is a new edition, but it sounds like it's the first time you guys are getting it in Blu.

Not the first time other countries have gotten Blu-rays first. But we end up getting better extra features and sometimes a better transfer(look at the Canadian and US releases of Sin City). When we get a release of The Crow we're definitely going to get a better transfer over the 1080i one the Brits got plus actual extra features.

And they have endless shelf life! Take that videogames!

Just saw Inglourious Basterds last night finally (longest time Netflix has ever taken me to get a movie... Was in my queue like 3 months before the release of the Blu-Ray). Sooooo good.

Yeah, Canada got the Alliance-distributed Se7en last year, which has no extras, no subs, is 1080i, and is the wrong aspect ratio. The new American release will not have any of those problems and is apparantly a new transfer. I, personally, avoid most of Alliance's Canadian-exclusive catalog releases like the plague, they are dirt cheap for a reason.

I think Fincher personally oversaw the production of the Fight Club Blu-ray, I wonder if he'll be doing the same with Se7en.

I remember when I first put the Fight Club disc in on Christmas Day: "What the fuck!? I got the wrong disc! What the fuck is Never Been Kissed!? FUUUUUU--"

Has anyone seen the Dragonball Kai BRDs? How's the PQ? I don't expect a miracle, but I want to buy it on either BRD or DVD.

Looks very nice from what I've heard. Not much of a difference between DVD and Blu ray considering the age of the "source material", but Blu Ray obviously has the advantage. I should have mine today or tomorrow :D

Firefly is @ $27.99 on Amazon. That's the whole series (minus Serenity) for the price of an average movie. Get it here. It's one of my favorites tv series ever and its ending never left me sad for a few days.

Nice link.
This is the only bit of news regarding The Pacific I am aware of. That post doesn't make any sense, HBO only does that sometimes for seasons of shows that are longer than twelve episodes. Never have they broken up a miniseries.

He's probably talking about the new BoB bundle that includes Part 1 (Episode 1) of The Pacific.

Link.

Does anybody know an internet site where I can get imported French Blu-rays? My girlfriend bought us a copy of OSS 117 Rio ne répond plus on blu-ray when she was in Cannes and it's really really really funny. It's like Black Dynamite for spy movies. But I found out it's the sequel. I would never have known because it's like 1000x better than Austin Powers. Anyway I need the first movie now.

For those interested in Alice in Wonderland, here is a $10 off coupon for the 3-Disc Combo Pack Blu-ray.

http://www.disneymovierewards.go.com/promotions/special-offers/alice-coupon?cmp=dmov_dmr_url_alice-coupon_print

Fry's Electronics has it for $24.99 and will accept the coupon, bringing the final price down to $14.99. I think Best Buy and Target each got it for $26.99. They also have a deal where if you buy Alice you also get $10 off select Disney Blu-ray titles: Dallas, Texas Fry's Ad Scan

I don't know which titles are a part of this deal yet.

saw Book of Eli....what a bad movie. brand new looking designer sunglasses?? brand new looking Beat earphones?

2/5 stars. if Denzel wasn't in the movie, it'd be 1/5 stars.

Does anyone know if any websites or stores are going to have any sales for the Band of Brothers repackage that's out this week?
