I can't believe there are people on Neogaf that haven't seen BttF. I personally can't wait to ditch my DVD set for the Bluray, and I've probably seen each of the movies over 15 times. :O

Currently watching Alchemy: Dire Straits Live, was finally released in 1080P with beautiful dts remastering. The picture quality still isn't the best, but oh god the sound quality more than makes up for it.

Delicatessen and The Third Man coming to BD in September. The Third Man was released on Blu by Criterion two years ago, but they have since lost the rights to the film and the Blu is out of print, so this is a good chance to pick it up for those that missed it.

Cool. Now someone announce City of Lost Children!

Just saw Avatar on bluray.. HOLYSHIT to say the least :O

Perfect IQ and and full screen picture <3 <3 <3

Was my first time watching the movie too, and I can see where the hate comes from, but I seriously didn't care at all for the shortcomings, I'm officially in the camp that loved it.

And a good time for someone with a Criterion copy of it to sell it for ULTIMATE COSTANZA PROFIT

Delicatessen is my wife's favorite movie. Pretty high up there for me, too. And I missed Third Man, which is also way up there for me. So, great news all around.

Now all of you go see Micmacs!

I've got sealed copies of all the OOP Criterion Blu-rays (Third Man, Pierrot Le Fou, Man Who Fell To Earth). Trouble is they're sealed because I haven't watched them yet and now I'm reluctant to :(

Filmmaker Edgar Wright, who directed one of the fake trailers embedded in Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's Grindhouse, posted yesterday on his Twitter account that he's soon going to record a commentary for that trailer, and added: "Some of you will know what that means is finally happening" – namely, that a release of the Grindhouse theatrical experience is around the corner.
:0 Could it be?

I was visiting some relatives over the weekend and they had a ~50" Aquos that could do 1080p/24. Luckily I took my PS3 and an HDMI cable with me. I had Avatar since they hadn't seen it yet and holy wow: First time I've seen BRD in its full glory. I'm going to start saving now for Black Friday.

Hope you didn't watch it on torch/vivid/dynamic mode.

It isn't officially confirmed at this point, but it looks like along with Toy Story 3, Finding Nemo will be released on Blu-ray November 9. The date seems about right, and iirc Disney announced Finding Nemo was coming sometime last year, so this seems very likely to be true.

......which leaves just one

Edit: wow, just clicked that link. Even with all the insane Disney coupons floating around I can’t imagine not getting fleeced on the 2D/3D/DVD/Digital Copy set.

OMG OMG! I have been very patiently waiting on this for my next rewatch. I was almost afraid it would never come. One of the best shows ever.

Posted the date a few weeks back, but American Beauty is now officially announced for September 21 and has a boxart.

American Beauty is the only film that upon watching it the first time, as soon as it ended I hit Rewind (hello VHS) and watched it again right then and there.

Thomas Newman's score in lossless DTS should be heavenly.

I dunno. Looks kinda slim on special features...:lol

Apparently, for the first time ever, Cameron authorized including the Carter Burke cocoon deleted scene from the end of Aliens

Any idea what's gained/lost from the Quadology?

According to Fox, the four Alien films have been "reinvigorated for an intense Blu-ray high-definition viewing experience." It will take advantage of Blu-ray technology by incorporating the MU-TH-UR Mode, an interactive feature that lets you access the special features on all six discs and provides an index of all available content. And what does that content include? About 60 hours of special features and over 12,000 images, including material from the legendary early '90s LaserDisc release, the "Legacy" release and, of course, the Quadrilogy.

There will also be new, previously unreleased content, such as original screen tests of Sigourney Weaver prior to filming the original Alien, unseen deleted scenes, the previously unseen original cut of "Wreckage and Rage: The Making of Alien3" and more.

Sounds like it contains everything ever + more new stuff

God yes for the standard Blu Ray Alien Anthology, God no for the special edition (is that even a special edition, or will they all have the statue alien thing?) ...ABOUT TIME for all versions.

That and the Back to the Future set will make me a happy camper this fall.

I'm confused if the picture of the box on the top and the bottom pic are of two editions or it's the same edition. I don't want that statue. I don't like clutter and I'm sure not going to pay a premium for it. They better have a standard edition like with Blade Runner.

Edit: Just read it's two editions. A collector's edition and a ultra collector's limited edition.

That would be awesome. I hate it when studios release a movie but then don't at least include all the content from the DVD release. If it has everything from the Quad and more, it'll be pretty perfect.

Love the box for the Alien set.

I'll be waiting for reviews because I'm wary of tampering after what was done to Predator for the new Blu-ray, but definitely interested.

I wonder if they'll be generous enough to include the extended versions. If not then I guess I'll just wait until Amazon drops Death Proof down to $10 again.

$14? No way that stays $14 when/if these are the extended versions + all the trailers + new extras, which after 3 years it really should be.

PS: October looks insane. Grindhouse, Back To The Future, Alien Anthology, Psycho, Seven Samurai, etc. etc.
