Personally I've only gotten that blue Lightning McQueen from the Disney club. I have over 3k points, but still haven't found that one thing that looks interesting enough to buy.

What kind of stuff have people gotten from Disney Movie Rewards? I just ordered 'Walt Disney Treasures - Your Host, Walt Disney' for 800 points yesterday.
If I were you I'd buy all three of them. They're starting to sell for ridiculous prices secondhand.
There's no excuse not to get the DuckTales The Movie and Donald in Mathmagic Land DVD set.

I actually did consider the Ducktales movie but thought I could get it off Amazon for $10-15. The Walt Disney Treasures DVD I got is out of print so that got priority. But I see the Ducktales movie is out of print too. I'll be sure to keep it mind next time I claim a reward.

The DuckTales movie has never been available outside of the Movie Rewards, except in Australia or something.

"Mathmagic" is pretty awesome too. I recently got the "Disneyland USA" disk from the Walt Disney Treasures collection and I've been digging it. Darn you Disney Movie Club, a service I signed up for by accident and have enjoyed ever since!

Im sure they will be available seperately in a year or two.

I dont care, the whole price is justified by the new Aliens restoration as far as Im concerned

Same here. Will they be selling them individually?

DVDs and BDs have been around long enough that we should all know that the answer is obviously yes. "When?" is the question.

Dont know if this fits, but i had to post this amazing deal.

42" Panasonic TC-P42S2 + Tivo Premiere for 570$ on amazon. The thread talks about some other deals which might be better, i didnt really read it.

http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2318675

That is an amazing price. I got the S1 model in April 09 for $800 with employee discount and that was a great price at the time. I am amazed at this price, almost want to buy it.

So I've been emailing back and forth with Osciliscope Laboratories, the company that has the home video rights to Exit Through the Gift Shop in North America.

Hi Nic,

Unfortunately for now, the US release will only be in a standard DVD format.

Bummer... however, I just got an email from them again...

Hi Nic,

Update – apparently we are planning to do a Blu-ray sometime in 2011 but are nowhere near having a date set for it.

Just keeping you in the loop.

I can't imagine too many people here caring, but I noticed that Sony has Ishtar on the release schedule now, which makes me smile. Even though at the time it was considered one of the biggest disasters ever (there are far worse comedies released every month these days) it's a genuinely funny and enjoyable movie. It's particularly noteworthy, too, as there's never been a DVD release before.

those comedies don't cost a billion dollars. I'm surprise it doesn't have a "Final Cut" style documentary about its making/unmaking.

Wow. I had bought a the s1 for 650 in January this year and I thought that was pretty much the basement for 42in TVs

I always confuse Ishtar with Heaven's Gate, probably because they both have the same connotations of being huge flaming financial disasters. But apparently Heaven's Gate is the terrible one and Ishtar is the entertaining one? I'll have to make sure I see it.

And Network on blu finally, the Hi-Def gods were listening to my prayers :D

I picked up Psycho last week, and it looks pretty stunning. I can't comment on the 5.1 sound since I only have a stereo setup but the picture restoration is something to see, sometimes a little toooo pristine which makes me think there was a lot of DNR or whatnot, but still great.

Network is really incredible, saw that about a year ago for the first time. I wonder what the makers of that film would have said back when it was being put together if you explained that’s actually how things will wind up in the future. The fact they made it satirical points to just how fucked up things really are.

Black Friday is getting close. :D
Hopefully amazon.com has deals that are good enough to get us Canadians to bite. I've had a lot of BR movies on my "to buy" list for a long time, waiting for reasonable prices.

Just an FYI, Barnes & Noble is having their 50% off Criterion movie sale.

I ordered Paths of Glory, Charade, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, The Seventh Seal, M, Stagecoach, The Magician, The Thin Red Line and preordered The Night of the Hunter and Modern Times.

Aw. Pretty much the only Disney classic film I dislike. Had to watch it for my University module and was falling asleep during the screening.

Are there any good deals going on for The Pacific this week?

Best Buy has it for $56.99, and it comes with a bonus disc about the battle of Peleliu.

Target also comes with a bonus disc about the home front during the war but its a DVD and they want $65 for it.

If anyone is interested amazon.com has The Matrix Collection for $44.99 right now, the cheapest its ever been I believe.

They also have the Gamera 2 pack for $5.49!! I picked one up, it got here in a day. Haven't watched it yet but I heard it has surprisingly decent video and audio quality.

edit: Doh, didn't see that post about Gamera before mine. Oh well

Are we ever going to be able to buy just the first two Alien movies?

Can you buy the Die Hard movies individually? Planet of the Apes? The Mel Brooks movies?

Obviously, yes, they'll release them all separately, but they're going to sell as many of the boxsets as they can first. A shame you'd want to pass it up, though, what with Alien3 being the second best in the series... :)

It's not just because I don't care for the later two movies, I also just want normal bluray cases. I'm not in a rush, I'll wait it out.

Don't be silly, Alien is much better than Alien 3. :)

So I pretty much broke the bank this week

Picked up:

Alien Anthology
Sound of Music
Bridge on the River Kwai
Seven Samurai Criterion
Ride with the Devil Criterion
Days of Heaven Criterion

I don't know what to watch first :lol

I wasn't a huge fan of anything after the first two movies, but that boxset is SEXY. I'm picking it up!
After having it in my own hands, pics do it no justice. It is sexy as FUCK :D

I just want the first two movies :(

Caved and bought the set when Amazon had some deal on buying it along with the Last of the Mohicans. To my surprise the Alien 3 assembly cut is actually pretty good so no regrets on getting that. Alien Resurrection (which I had not seen in awhile) is still shit though.

When I went to B&N to look at their Criterions, they had the Prisoner blu ray set for $49 with a half off special. That's the cheapest I've ever seen it, finally own this incredible series.

Just got a Blu-Ray drive for my computer, and I am wondering which movies to buy first. Never owned Blu-Ray.

I'm looking after great movies, that look great(shows the difference from DVD), and preferebly with good extras.

I would also like to know about good shows and trilogy boxsets.

Is The Matrix and bourne trilogy boxsets worth getting?
