I avoided it at theaters because of the bad reviews, but now I wish I'd went. Yeah, there were some stupid moments (pubes puffing up, donkey stuff), but that's expected from a farrely bros movie. Overall, my wife and I laughed a ton, and that's all I care about in a comedy.
As for the PQ, Paramount did an amazing job on this one. EASILY the best PQ on a comedy that I've seen, on either format. Razor sharp most of the time, with only some indoor scenes looking softish. Mexico looks fantastic, and just any random scene with characters talking looks great. It just shows that HD can really enhance ANY genre. I REALLY have to fight the urge to buy this one on Amazon, but I'm going to give Paramount some time to make a definitive statement about their future before I purchase any more of their movies.

purg3 said:Currently watching LOST season 3 on Blu-ray right now. Visually it looks absolutely stunning for a network TV show. The vegetation and jungle shots are extremely impressive. The scenes that occur during the day time against the ocean also look very good. Now if they would just announce dates for the first and second seasons I would be even happier.

MAN I need a Blu-Ray player. I was just imagining the Looking Glass on Blu-Ray!

High-Def Digest said:Perfect. Stunning. Amazing. Those are just a few of the words to describe the video quality of this 'Lost' Blu-ray set. The 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 transfers exhibit a breathtaking clarity and detail far beyond anything possible on standard DVD, and even significantly superior to the show's 720p broadcasts on the ABC network. Presented in the 16:9 aspect ratio of the episodes' original HD airings, the image is extraordinarily sharp, with no distracting edge enhancement or digital compression artifacts. Every blade of grass on the island, every stubble in Jack's beard, each one of Kate's freckles, and all the skin pores of every actor are visible in striking detail, even in medium and long shots. Colors are vibrant and bold. The contrast range is crisply delineated from inky blacks to bright whites, with an exceptional sense of depth in every scene.
A minimal amount of film grain is present in some scenes, but it has been well digitized and compressed to retain the proper film-like textures without looking noisy. The show has outstanding, feature film-quality photography and lighting, and all the lovely island scenery certainly helps to make 'Lost' the best-looking series on television, and now one of the best-looking releases in all High Definition media.

Pan's Labyrinth: WOW! My favourite BD to date. This film uses colour very well, so it was important that they came across well. To compliment the fantastic picture quality, the soundtrack is amazing (DTS HD 7.1). I dunno how many times the buzzing insect sounds caught me off guard. Every time they seemed to fly behind me, I'd turn my head to the corner of the room. There is hardly ever a moment of complete silence in this film. I can't recommend this enough! Great movie too![]()
The Main Event said:I also watched Pan's Labyrinth (on HD DVD) last night. Saw it at the theaters, loved it, but now that I re-watched it I love it even more.
Amazing film, AAA transfer, and the soundtrack is superb. Too bad my receiver or player doesn't decode DTS-HD MA, but still, the DTS-HD core track sounds awesome (plugged via HDMI).

Such a great movie until the ENDING! Wtf the last 5 minutes betrayed everything that came before it. Movie turned into a joke. Crowes character just totally did some non logical shit.
my copy is arriving soon. not that i can currently play it. i picked it up on HD-DVD for the extra couple of features and the *lol only hd-dvd new line cinema released* collectors value.OokieSpookie said:Pan's is one of the few movies that have come out in a while that I consider more than a movie and more of an experience.
I know many were turned off by the subs and whatnot, but it really is a remarkable movie no matter what format that you watch it on.

PQ was amazing, but the soundtrack was the stand out, the music was beautiful. I left the movie on the menu screen for ages just listening to piano music.
Definitely a keeper.
