Doesn't have the HD-DVD extras though.

wow t2 hd-dvd sounded unbelievable - if they rerelease the movie on bluray it better have those fucking features, that shit looked awesome

How much are you guys paying for the German T2 release out of curiosity? I'd considered it initially, but the price + shipping looked like it was going to be really high.

Just saw Stranger Then Fiction yesterday and thought it was a really good movie. Definitely recommended for those who want something a little different.

WRAP-UP:

No country for old men is not the type of film that will appeal to everyone. It tells a story that is graphic and sometimes brutal in nature. I think that the telling of the story is where its strengths lie and not so much in the story itself. Often when films get such a build up in the media viewers feel somewhat let down after watching them. If you go into this one with the wrong mind set you will more than likely fall into the aforementioned group. I believe no matter how you go into this you will probably feel some level of disappointment in the film’s ending. What makes it great is what happens prior to that. This is a film worthy of your time. The audio/video presentation provided by Disney simply makes it all the better. I give it my highest recommendation.

if anyone cares, The Host blu ray is only $14.99@ best buy this week

I bought it at Best Buy a couple of days ago, and what a stupid movie it was. I dunno if they were supposed to be acting serious in that movie or not, or maybe it's jsut the dub that makes it seem so silly, but the movies shouldn't be considered anything more than a bad horror comedy. It did look and sound damn well though...

I'm not Korean, and I don't read subtitles when I don't have to. Regardless of the poor dub, the movie still would have been pretty silly, watching it with the english dub just gave it more of a 70s feel.

Try changing this "habit" of yours and don't be a stubborn jackass about it.

This is akin to watching The Godfather in Pig Latin.

Michael Clayton instant review:

Looks great, lame extras.

I propose: with the mamoth thread gone and the Toshiba one being increasingly irrelevant, that we post more release news here, without getting into format crap.

Which movie on BD has the best PQ?

For my money Blade Runner and 2001 are both testaments to painstaking restorations and HD formats. On either HD DVD or BD, you cant go wrong with either.

After all teh hype for blade runner i thought it was really inconsistant. Some parts looked spectacular while other parts looks really soft.

Agreed on both.

Really? I thought it was immaculate for about 95% of the film. There are a few shots which dont match up to the rest, but on the whole, I was floored.

2001 is even better though. Probably the best transfer ever, up to this point.

Xylon on AVS is calling Beowulf HD DVD the new king in PQ for an animated movie. It'll be interesting to see how the European Warner VC-1 encode compares to this AVC encode.

It was probably the worst movie I'd seen all year. Definitely rent first.

I could get the Blu-ray here but no matter how good it looks I won't buy it. The movie was shit.

I completely agree. All the hype i heard I was expecting something better. 2001 easily outclasses imo.

And as i said before im really surprised it won best looking catalogue title at HDD.

Beowulf should do pretty well on either format, since high-def seems to have introduced a relatively new group of consumer who buy terrible movies solely because they're pretty to look at.

I think it was because i saw sunshine just before it and because the first few shots of the movie were so godly that the soft bit stuck out even more to me.
