Yeah, I'm not buying that explanation either. It's SO OBVIOUS that johnny 5 was an inspiration for the head. They can say whatever they want, it's plain to see.

Actually, I'd say the bino's seem more obvious.

Has anyone seen a running time count posted anywhere for Gotham Knight? I have been dying to know how long it will be, but no one has information listed.

Most likely 120-150 minutes since there are 6 mini-movies and each should be around 20 - 25 minutes...

they werent on the new justice league movie so i doubt they will be here

The New Frontiert BD has some episodes of Batman Animated on it? That might get me to buy the thing. I wasn't too impressed with the movie. I actually liked the Superman animated movie better.

Does anyone know the region status of No Country For Old Men? Blurayregioninfo claims that it's region free, but from an ambiguous source. I'm still a little sceptical but it would be seriously awesome if true. I don't think there's even been a date for the UK yet.

No one knows yet. Someone on AVforum claimed it was region free, but he tested it in some technical way I don't understand, he didn't test it on a UK PS3. The region site might have just gotten the info from there.

To be sure tho, because I also want to import it, movietyme tests releases on a UK PS3 so it's 100% accurate, I've emailed them with a request for No Country so as soon as they update their blog with it we'll know for sure.

Here's the blog if you want to keep an eye on it: http://movietyme.blogspot.com/?osCsid=8ffb8a9792165e3cfe09647fcf342be3

You can also email in requests using this address: regiontest@movietyme.com

No, it has Justice League Unlimited bonus episodes. They're pretty good ones actually, but still not in HD.

I get the feeling JLU wasn't done in HD, and we won't be seeing it in HD unless they decide to remaster it.

Yeah I usually keep an eye on the MovieTyme blog, but I am quite anxious/impatient about this title.

Same, I have a money off voucher at Movietyme which ends 2moro, so I hope they update it by then :lol

I think they just got it in stock today so we should know 2moro.

"We have a partnership with Toshiba and have an obligation to see this through," DreamWorks Chief Executive Jeffrey Katzenberg said on Tuesday.

"As you know, we have been well-compensated for our support. It really is in their court at this point to really declare what the next step will be. We're poised either way to jump into the marketplace when the conditions are right to do so," he said

Wow. I can't believe he's being so candid about being money-hatted. I wonder if Toshiba would make them stick to their contract (assuming there's no opt-out clause in case Toshiba throws in the towel, which seems unlikely given his comment above) just to spite blu-ray.

Either way, they're obviously on board whenever the "conditions are right to do so". Hopefully sooner rather than later.

According to insiders they have already started authoring in blu, and a resolution should come in a matter of weeks.

Would you guys recommend Justice League to only a really casual comic fan? I don't really like DC all that much but some stuff I do like. Is it merely fan service or does the story hold up on its own?

Good story, but the enemy and threat is a bit vague so it is hard to say.

What are you smoking? The Descent was pure and unadulterated utter ass compared to 30 Days of Night. If anyone is thinking about picking up 30 Days or Beowulf Walmart has them for $24.96.
if you're going to bash a movie like that then at least spend a few minutes defending your viewpoint.

Been picking up a lot of movies due to the great deals:

The Departed ($10)
Black Snake Moan ($10)
Coming to America ($10)
The Untouchables ($10)
Planet Earth ($29!)

I could see my HD DVD collection going into the hundreds in a few years.

I also picked up another A3 at Costco for $79 before 02/28/08.. which included Bourne Identity and 300 (will probably give em to my brother-in-law). Unfortunately, I own both lol, but it also still qualifies for the five free from Toshiba (hopefully they will still honor the rebate).

while tempting, i'm personally not buying any cheap hd dvd's. my 150 dollar a3 is now my upconverting dvd player. all i have is free hd-dvd's as my "library".

I can see where you're coming from. Personally though, an HD movie is an HD movie, and I don't mind having movies of different formats on my media shelf. I mean, I have DVD's sitting next to the HD DVD's.

I'm sure I'll have a Blu-Ray player at some point, meaning when they get to around $100... lol (5 years from now perhaps :lol)

i entered the game late, in January, so that plays a role. even at that time i knew blu-ray would most likely win. i anticipated a year or so, and wanted to rent a shit ton of netflix.

my fear in building a hd-dvd library is not having a backup in the future. i know there will be dual players, but they are so expensive! i plan to get a ps3 eventually, not a dual.

So Cloverfield and There Will Be Blood are definitely confirmed canceled.. ugh I hope they can get them out soon. I kind of wanted Bee Movie too.

Both of those titles need to release on blu-ray soon.

Does anyone own Sleepy Hollow BD/HD? Is it worth the upgrade (I love the movie).

Not really. For such a visually interesting movie, its got one of the least impressive HD treatments Ive seen.

I agree. What I had hoped in the past was that Toshiba would eventually add combo players to their line-up, as those would not be as expensive. However, I think it likely won't happen now that they have left the field.

I think your comment about the chance of needing a new player in the future is sound. I actually picked up the extra A3, for that and the free discs even though I can't recall the last time a disc based player of mine failed. Some of them are more than 10 years old. :D

So we will have to wait 'till this summer (or maybe more) to get Sweeney, Cloverfield and There Will be Blood in hi-def.

Ahhh Paramount.

This is infuriating. It would be great if they still come out overseas on HD, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. Toshiba couldn't have waited, like, a month to end this? You're depriving me of the movies I want to see so badly! :(

Assuming good prices can be found, I'll definitely pick up Into the Wild and Things We Lost In the Fire, though. In regards to the latter, Susanne Bier is one of the best directors working today.

I got Into the Wild pre-ordered.

I might give a look at Things We Lost in the Fire if I can find it for cheap too.

You might want to check out one of her previous films before buying; they're all strong character-driven dramas with a lot of emotional investment, and probably not for everyone, but truly phenominal assuming you go for this sort of thing.

My only concern with Things We Lost was that it's her first fully English-language film and one with major actors, but reviews have made it clear that it retains the qualities of her previous work, so I'm willing to grab it sight unseen.

Damn it. They are playing Raging Bull right now on HD-NET but I missed the a ton of it.

PQ was pretty good but it looks like it could use some love.

Does anyone know of a decent site where I can download HD Movie Trailers? I know about the Apple site but you have to pay for some crappy Quicktime software to download it.

I found one site called themovieinsider.com but a lot of the trailers are Quicktime movies and I just found out PS3 doesn't support them. :(

Quicktime is free AFAIK.

I think you just have to pay for full screen mode or something.

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

Yah it's free unless you want to save/create movie files.

Yeh I want to download them, not just stream them, and you have to pay for Quicktime 7 Pro to do that.

I want to find some PS3 compatible ones as well, I downloaded There Will Be Blood 1080p trailer and it's a .mov file which isn't supported...

Im gonna try and use PS3 Vid 9 and see if it works.

EDIT: Just did a Quicktime HD Mov Passthrough whatever that is and it converted it straight to AVC in like 2 minutes. Man I wish I had downloaded it sooner.

And it looks daaaamn good in 1080p.

Shitty about TWBB. I have been looking forward to that in HD for a long time. Guess I can continue looking forward to it....

- Dark Heart (ep. 10, season 1)
- To Another Shore (ep. 30, season 2)
- Task Force X (ep. 17, season 1)

Persoanlly I thought the episode selection is a little poor, other than Task Force X which is good.
