The human species is such a disappointment

The reaction to the Paris attacks surely must justly depict our values.

/imagines there are no points on this planet where hundreds of people get killed, daily, while the civilized world sips their next latte.

It seems pretty obvious that the attacks are what prompted this thread

That people do not consider every single human in existence every single second of their day does not make them evil.

Calories aren't the issue. Without calories the food would be completely ineffective. What they should do is make a standard 2000cal pill for women/2500cal for men with perfectly balanced macro and micro nutritional values. Surprisingly a thought that had crossed my mind.

I guess both of us don't understand every science.

On your former point, I'm open to the idea. You can't prove me wrong. I like to think the world isn't so easy to understand, nor human nature.

Isnt my job to prove you wrong. You're the one claiming hydrogen pollutant free cars are physically possible when you have no idea how chemistry works.

Supposing that magic technology could exist and then saying it doesn't because of human greed is basically just believing what you want to believe.

The word you've been looking for is 'indifferent'.

Which isn't evil. It just is how human minds work as a result of evolutionary processes. Out of sight out of mind.
Yes, I've noticed. We respond most lively when our own ass is on the receiving end. But then so do bacteria.

Nothing magical about hydrogen cars.

Some pretty shallow responses from some people, I feel.

Ecologically this is exactly the case. In general, biodiversity and ecosystems are in a shittier state than any period since the advent of man. In terms of the environment, we are still fucking up.

Otherwise, there is good and bad. A life of comfort, high materiality and access to knowledge is available to more people than ever before. These benefits have not been made available to a huge amount of people however.

I agree that people most of us don't seem to digest just how fucking incredible life is. Like the chances of you being you far surpass the chance of you winning the lottery. Life is insane and incredible and much about our culture seems to dampen this insight.

Saying humanity is a disappointment is creating something of an artificial unity. You know better than that. There is no such thing as a unidirectional humanity. Sure, if we compare ourselves to other species, we might view ourselves as an aggregate. But there are many fucking awesome people out there would want a world better for most. There are also people out there who are fine with monopolising at the expense of others, and disconnect from the destruction that their actions cause.

There have been much more violent times in human history than now..

We are just better informed these days than ever before..

You are overreacting...

Doesn't that depend where you live? Like, I am not sure if people in Syria would attest to that.

Still if you compare it to say WWII, which was the most violent time in human history in terms of number of deaths, then sure...

So essentially my opinion? It isn't a sure belief but you know what, it's possible, and I'm not ignorant to assume its a complete impossibility. You may same I'm a fool, or a conspiracy nut, and I may think you a narrow minded cog in the machine of society. I just have an imagination along with a logical mind.

At the end of the day it's an example to highlight humanities lack of priority when it comes to bettering the planet, along with the human race itself. Not just fuel. Human injustice, religious attacks, terror threats, unequal wealth distribution etc. You're right I don't understand the chemistry behind it and never said it was be 100% pollutant free. Could be lessened with enough research. In 100 years if we're still using combustible fuel as a standard I'll be surprised as well as dead.

Except there's no reason for me to consider it possible if you don't provide even a shred of evidence that it is. My mind is open to the possibility that greedy corporations are just witholding low cost hydrogen car tech, but there's no evidence to suggest that. You might as well assert Hogwarts exists in real life and that I can legally purchase Polyjuice Potion.

Your opinion ceases to be just an opinion when you try to make large conspiracy claims like that. "It's just my opinion bro" doesn't fly when someone tries to claim Obama is a secret Muslim lizardman bent on the destruction of the US. "It's just my opinion bro" doesn't fly when someone tries to claim that hydrogen powered cars could exist and be mainstream today if only greedy corporations didn't exist.

i can't believe that we are still judge by the color of our skins.

We look at things that are different and somehow infer that there's some true element of "separation" which itself promotes division. Can you find the line that truly cuts off a white man from a black man? Any line is only of the mind; the two people go together. They exist as forms/organisms in the same field/universe.

What we're talking about here is more like this with that, instead of this and that. This and that project the idea that X and Y are isolated and cut off, but this with that implies that there are different, but co-exist and go together. Yin and Yang as an idea are a helpful illustration of this.

Low cost hydrogen cars in 2015?

No none on the market. I agree.

~

Although it was just like asking for an all electric car 10 years ago.

Hence why some people convert their own cars to hydrogen.

Not so magical then :)

Edit

Also the Toyota Mirai a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, one of the first hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles to be sold commercially.

We're living in the most peaceful times in human history.

The issue is we have access to 24/7/365 information from across the world.

We also have a well primed negativity bias. That helped us in the savannah in Africa, while avoiding predators, but it blinds in modern times.

Everyday millions of people crowd themselves in flying sardines cans relatively peacefully.

Could you imagine that happening in the Middle Ages?

This is such a damn good post.

Edit this in the OP and wrap it up.
