The iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch Gaming |OT2| Part II

Just read about the free content update and paid expansion coming to Galaxy on Fire II.
Fantastic news. Can't stress enough how awesome the game is, and this is someone who maintains vitriolic hatred of the first game!

Any Infinity Blade junkies? I just gave in to peer pressure and bought it. The graphics blow my mind and the actual dueling is controlled surprisingly well. I didn't realize it was a point and click adventure of sorts. Wasn't the demo free roaming?

Anyhow I made the mistake of spending a real world dollar for in game gold. I had shitty weapons like WOOD SHIELD so I figured it would help a bit. I'm a fucking unstoppable tank because of the sword and shield I bought with that 99 cents. Help a bit? It seems I just bought "win the game" armor for a dollar.

Oh, and the medieval atmosphere with the over the top beep boop technology menu/inventory system makes for a sick contrast.

I must get the infinity blade before the mythical update lands!

Oh I'm definitely enjoying Infinity Blade. It was one of those games that I played a little bit of when it first came out but have recently gone back to it for more extensive playthroughs.

I really love the fact that the enemies get harder over time and even throw new attack moves at you after a while.

It's one of my favorite games so far, and I'm very glad it wasn't free roam. It would totally take away from what makes it special.

Oh my... didn't know "The 7th Guest" is on iOS, and now it is on discount for only $0.99! Instantly bought!

Graphics look crisp, looks like a nice port! Let me play it and see!

I think i would agree that the style adds to the experience. Just didn't expect that!

The challenge is back, I have died twice now. That boost didn't last too long but it was a huge advantage for a little while.

I can see myself staying up all night playing this. I can also see myself coming back to this game for months. I'm glad I gave in. If I had to make a top 5 list of iOS games I think this would rank very highly within it. Just need more time to decide. Stunning.

Damn I hate that king. I actually thought I had a chance to take him down the first time - I got some good hits in.

hell yes brother. i was hooked on it for over a week until I scored the infinity blade and maxed out all my gear. it's a great showpiece for the iOS platform and provides just the amount of short form gameplay with enough mechanics to provide a deep experience if you seek it. i might just have to play it again!

Nice, I knew it was coming out, but didn't know it was up already. I never got to play it originally on PC.

Buying....

I think the change in the islands may just be cosmetic. Same physical patterns to the landscape. But maybe I'm mistaken?
Right, just the patterns. The first day my island one was mostly green, now it's striped. My second island was striped, now it's solid in color. It was wigging me out. :lol

Yeah, just cosmetics.

Maxed out my multiplier and #4 on the leaderboards right now. I think I got my fun out of this game. Hopefully new stuff will get added in the future

Tiny Wings is awesome and lovely, but maybe a tiny bit over-hyped on here? :o

I mean it is a great game, but I can't see me playing it in a week let alone a month or even a year like I have Angry Birds.

Probably not the best of timing since I've just put down an incredibly popular game, but my GameCenter thing is looking a bit bare (and when I say that, I mean none of my friends have GameCenter for some strange reason) so if anyone wants to add me, my username is nickdrew - thanks :)

There's quite a few iOS games I really like, but Infinity Blade is easily my #1 favorite. I'm at Bloodline 20 and I still keep loving it more every time. The pace at which the difficulty increases is just perfect in order to gradually guide you into mastering the game mechanics on an insane level. Right now enemies are really hard and fast, even though I have the Infinity Blade. And even though right now I have all the best gear, it's still a great experience just trying to get better at it and trying to beat the God King. Plus... When you beat the God King, wait for what comes after the credits! You'll see why there are medieval/hi-tech contrasts in the game :D.

The game's visual style and fantastic level of detail and use of shaders also hasn't gotten old to me yet, such a pleasure to play. Though I wouldn't mind some performance improvements, even though current little hang-ups and jerks are not really problematic.

got the game thanks to you guys. so great. 31 on feint as of this morning with 148k. told my friend and now he's number 4 on feint with something like 198k.

It seems like only the skins change day to day and not the actual layout. anyone else agree with this?

no way i can get the last multiplier challenges completed.
The layouts DO change, but each island has it's own "theme" that doesn't. An example is that Island 6 is ALWAYS full of shallow little bitch hills. And I think it's Island 4 that is always full of very deep slopes that are perfect for catching cloud time. The colors and the layouts change each day, but the type of terrain each island has stays the same. Does that make sense?

Bought! Thanks for the heads up. As I mentioned when this game came out, I used to love this when I was a kid, scared the shit out of me to an absurd degree. Lets see if I can beat it this time!

In other news, Tiny Wings is now on top of the UK chart, impressive stuff, it's the little game that could. I had a breakthrough last night as well, got a highscore of around 120,000, comfortably beating out my GAF friends list. Yeah, eat it Robert Ashley! :P

Add me as Jedeye Sniv on OF if you want to run at the king :D

Shadow Era is now out!

screen_480_4.jpg
screen_480_2.jpg

Shadow Era is an online, multiplayer, free to play collectible trading card game. It features deep strategy, easy gameplay, and gorgeous card art.

Features

amazing card art to rival even the top trading card games
currently more than 100 cards and new cards being added constantly
cross-platform multiplayer battles
fantastic 3d graphics and special effects
awesome custom soundtrack
free to play, low cost to expand

Game Design

Shadow Era is influenced by several other trading card games, but strives to provide a unique blend that is both easy to learn and fun to play. The basis of the game design behind Shadow Era was to provide a system that avoids mid-turn interrupts that can greatly slow down multiplayer games when played online, while still allowing for deep strategy and surprises.

Because a lot of people are excited about the potential of Shadow Era and it's shaping up to be a great game, there is a natural tendency to compare it to the top existing trading card games. For a more detailed comparison between Shadow Era, Magic: The Gathering and World of Warcraft TCG, please see the featured article, A closer look at Shadow Era.

Cross Platform

Whether you choose to play on the web right in your browser, or with your iPhone on the go, your game progress will carry over. Since the battles are designed to be quick, it's the perfect way for sneaking in some play time at work or during boring meetings.
Active Development

Shadow Era is available now, but development of the game is ongoing. We are constantly adding new cards and new features, and we rely on our active community to provide feedback and great suggestions.

First impression of Shadow Era. High production value, excellent idea, broken gameplay. I'm excited for what this game will be, but it's straight broken right now. The computer plays by different rules -for instance, it got to sacrifice two cards immediately to start with two resources. Secondly, it starts with more powerful creature cards than you ... which wouldn't be a problem if that didn't automatically mean victory. The ways the rules are set up, the guy with the most powerful creature will win, because you can attack the player directly.

There is obviously a good game here somewhere, and maybe it's unbalanced to get you to buy cards or something, but it's got a while to go still.

Worth a free download? Of course.

Really?! Holy hell. When it rains, it pours.

Hmm, I don't know what I was thinking, it doesn't. Oh well. Sorry for getting mixed up.

Played a little of Shadow Era though, and it didn't click with me like Orions did. The whole sacrificing each turn is a little confusing, I wasn't even aware my resources were cut off from the screen in the initial camera angle, and the tutorial is not very good at explaining how to play.

I'll have to try it again later, but my initial impression is the UI needs some work still. Deck building seems a little awkward and there's a lot of wasted space. In general the UI isn't always clear as to what you can push, and things like selecting a card are a little tricky.

Orions is pretty damn good, perhaps the best card-based game on the platform - especially when you've got the whole card-breeding aspect with different buildings in different realms. Looking forward to the sequel, especially with its touted "quick-match" option. Sometimes I just want to play my deck without touching the territory conquest part.

I'm just about to sling SE onto my iphone, but I can already feel the UI will not be as smooth as Orions, simply because it's very much a CARD card game. I quite enjoy its flow on Facebook, and do remember that you only have to sacrifice cards during the initial stages (up to 6 or 8, I think), and after that only when your sacrifice pool gets hit by an attack or something.

My main gripe is going to be the lack of self-containment on iOS. Having everything serverside might work for some people, but I simply want to play against AI and not have to connect to the internet via 3G (I don't have wireless at home). We'll see.

Oh there's a reason behind it? Damn, I'm excited. I'm up to bloodline 3 and the cakewalk is over. I also have a habit of trying to parry everything instead of shield/dodge though so I think I'm making it harder on myself.

I've noticed some hiccups but not enough to complain.

Hey guys, we here at RedLynx put out a teaser trailer for our upcoming iPhone and iPad game. You can find it at www.redlynxmystery.com.

You've got my attention. I hope we get to see more pretty soon, the idea of different characters/worlds each day is really appealing but I need moar!

Add another to the growing list of Tiny Wings addicts. Such an amazingly simple game that perfectly encapsulates what I like most about mobile gaming.
