Is the Quest coming to iPad or decently playable on it? Looks great. Also, anyone own the full version of Baseball Superstars 2010? Seems like the most interesting baseball game I've found, like the similar Japanese game they brought to the PS2 and Wii.
 
There's a HoMM clone called Palm Heroes that went free today. I've not tried it yet, any opinions? It looks pretty decent at first glance.

First of all, the Quest is completely awesome. A dated but incredibly robust first person RPG experience that really can't be matched on the platform. Even without the MANY expansions, it's a complete CRPG package.

That said, I wouldn't hold my breath for an iPad specific release; especially if the current engine runs fine on the iPad. At this point, the main coders are in maintenance mode, facilitating the insertion of externally developed/adapted expansion packs and fixing bugs/performance issues.

The graphics are all basically hand-drawn, and they weren't about to redo them for the iPhone 4 retina display. Can't imagine that they'd redo them for the iPad's display.

The team has moved on to their next game, which will be party based.

I tried the tutorial. It's pretty good but needs to teach you the interface, I had to learn by trial and error. The game is hard on normal. The combat interface is what I struggle with most.

There's a manual linked in the game's description. Seems to go over everything.

There was a similar project on Windows Mobile as well, looked almost exactly like this, think it goes by the same name and everything.

If only Pocket UFO (exact copy of X-COM, also found on Windows Mobile) would get ported to iOS, that would be incredible.
 
It's almost impossible to move around due to how unresponsive the controls are.

edit: actually scratch that, I didn't realize you couldnt move while zoomed in. Game is a bit rough, menus and such are obtuse, but it's definitely worth grabbing for free. Really tough too.

One of the developers or whatever posted on the Touch Arcade forums that The Quest would not be 'ported' to the iPad. Something about having to completely redo the graphics or something, don't remember exactly.
 
Any gaffer playing god Ville? Its free and looks fin , you control a hero by phrases and punish him or encourage him, Also its fun plus i think we ca make our héroes fight,

Actually not too bad. I think the first few levels are free; try it out. I wasted a few hours on it and enjoyed myself.

Speaking of updates, Ninjatown Trees of Doom got an update today too.
It now has retina support (free 10MB DLC for high res graphics after patching the app), and a few new gameplay additions :)

One small note, what is it with more and more apps shutting down your iTunes background play now? I swear I used to be able to listen to my own music in the old version of Trees of Doom, but no dice now.

Just bought Monopoly Here & Now on Monday >_<. It's been a while since I felt the bite of a quick sale after purchasing something. Figured they wouldn't put it on sale since they had their back to school sale and it wasn't one of them. Oh well....
 
Giana Sisters has the worst controls of any game I played on iOS. What a waste of 5 bucks.

I might get Carcassonne (told my friends as well), Astrolad's instructions was what I needed for this type of game.

Finally iTunes accepted my credit card, trough Click & Buy though.

Bought Plants vs Zombies, Epic Win and Carcassone! Seen so many guys talking about Carc that I had to try it.

Downloading, and will try a few single player games just to get the hang of it, then I might just add myself in the GAF play, if there is room for a newbie ;)

I bought Dominion instead, and I can't recommend it. It has all the features you want, with different rules and quite a few maps, but it's an ipad game shrunk to the iphone, so the controls are a bit crap. Probably the best Risk clone though.

Thanks; I'll give it a look - Lux is great if you want extra maps (about 80 odd I think) and a few customisable rules but I'm always hankering for more

I just did, this is what you fork 5 bucks for, not fricken Giana Sisters. Read the manual and played the tutorial. Conclusion: this can't get any simpler; they outlines everything for you so clear. Can't believe I was holding off getting it. Also, everything is pretty fricken fantastic: sounds, graphics, voice acting.

You'd be a fool not to get this game, seriously.
 
Aw shit, I was in the middle of a MP game of Carcassone when I received a call, then I tried to go back to the game but it just got me on the main menu so the guy prolly thinks I quit in the middle.

Is there anyway to avoid this?

Edit: Btw, anyone ever heard about this? http://godfinger.ngmoco.com/

Didn't knew it was free :O

Play friend multiplayer only! Nice thing about friend multi is that you can take turns at your leisure (push notifications, most of our games take several days) and also play 2-5. It also has an ELO if you're interested in keeping tabs on your performance. Been a while since I played ranked, but I think you have to do it in one sitting, never quite figured out the pause and the like. Oh, also you can downloan an 8-bit-style character for use in vs. AI games. Check the little news tab (mail icon) on the main menu.

Yeah, my ELO decreased because of that "quit" :|

Ok, going to put my IGN on the online Carc thread. MP games with push notifications are the ideal thing for me!

fwiw quickplay and friend ELO are totally separate, which is nice.

i'll add you guys tonight! (in meetings all day today)
 
Just had a game with Echoes. I really suck lol

It was fun though, made some dumb mistakes that i'll prolly won't repeat :P

Edit: Btw, the Pause button only works like a "return to main menu" button right? Doesn't really pause the game or anything since there's no time limit?

Also (sorry lol), how do I enable push notifications? I didn't allow them when I first ran the game but now I want to enable them :|
 
Is anyone else having push notification problems on their iPhone? Suddenly I am not getting any of them for Mafia Wars, Words With Friends, or We Rule.

The application should have its own category at the bottom of your general 'settings' menu. In there should be the 'push' options.

Yeah, searched there but no option for push notifications. I think it only sends when we are inside the game, main menu or anything, but not on the iPhone homescreen.
 
It's really easy to get into the game, and being able to play on long games without any time limit is great, specially since it's a mobile phone game.

From Home:
Settings-->Notifications-->Carcassonne. You should get Push from home screen or any application (except those that disable Push).

Settlers HD comes out today. It's already out in NZ.

The iPhone version is excellent, so this should be too.

Fingers crossed the missing sandbox style mode is in, but doubt it looking at the description.
