I made the commitment to a platformer with no virtual D-pad or buttons, and *think* I pulled it off:

So what's the protocol? Should I post some promo codes?
I'd post a review.

I have gone off about it a little in this thread now and again, mind that our free promotion for 180 is ending after this evening. Happy new year everybody!

Ah, thanks! Now where can I find the balm? :lol

You have to craft it. Go back to Vierne in her hut at Karn (near the drake carcass) and she'll teach you the recipe. You'll need a superb healing potion (IIRC) and 3 yuma seeds. The yuma seeds can be harvested in the Outlands, not far from Karn proper.

Hey Crazygambit, I downloaded your game when it was free and it keeps crashing on me whenever I try to play it. I'm on a pretty full 2nd gen iPod Touch, if that matters...

Draw Race (from Redlynx, the Trials-team, you know) is free today.

It's a racer where you draw the line for your car and then watch the race. The quicker you draw, the faster the car goes. Which, of course, means that the car might go off the road.

A fun game, and multiplayer (up to three players)) with a couple of friends where you take your turn drawing the race line and then watch how it plays out can be quite exciting.

You can watch how it plays here.

Just came to post this. As it happens, I'm starting work at RedLynx on the 12th (PR & marketing), which was probably the best Christmas present last year!

Here's the App Store link as well.

Congratulations. Game looks enjoyable.

I am still laughing my ass off at No, Human.

Oh, congratulations. Seems like a really fun team to work with.

I've had a lot of contact with Tero Virtala over the years, interviews, news and stuff. Did a "reader interview" with them when Trials HD was released (part one and two and another one for Trials 2: Second Edition here).

Is there anything available that's similar to Roller coaster tycoon or Transport tycoon?
Virtual City shares some traits with TTD, cargo/people transports. Though afaik only via trucks/buses, but I have only played the first 14 missions so there might be other means. Game has a sandbox mode as well.

There's a lite version here.

Full version is on sale at 2.39€ ($3?) until January 10. Link

What the hell, I'm on iPad 3G right now, I can't dl apps heavier then 20megs?! It.s telling me I have to use wifi or my computer's iTunes (lol), da fuck? Can you guys comment on this, seems totally absurd to me, is it my 3g service provider's fault or a real limitations? How the hell am I ever supposed to rent a movie or something with such strict limitation then...

They always have had this limitation, used to be 10MB few months back (maybe a year now), but up to 20MB now. It is a worldwide thing, so your carrier is not directly to blame, but Apple most likely introduced the limit to play nice with carriers. I don't think companies want multiple GBs of date going through their 3G service daily, as it would kill the service with congestion if multiple people used it.

Looking for more adventure titles.. Like Ace, Cause of Death and so on.. What's up?

Nick Chase might be worth a look. There's an Lite version out, and it's on sale until tomorrow. From what I've played it's decent, but I'm curious if anyone has played the full thing and if it gets better or keeps consistent with the opening of the game.

Yep, this is a standard iOS limitation. Downloading big files over 3G takes forever anyway though, personally I've never wanted to download a big app over 3G. Though I can see how it'd be really annoying if you're in a situation where you both: a) have no wi-fi at home and b) have no bandwidth cap on your 3G usage.

Jailbreak takes care of this problem(at least on iPhones).

Congrats on the job and thanks for the link. I still think Reset Generation was brilliant. A friend of mine was the Exec. Producer on the title and I hooked him up with 8-Bit Weapon to do the soundtrack. Too bad it is only for Nokia phones :(

Nick Chase: A Detective Story is at a lowered price point today, has anyone had a go at it?
I liked it. It's nothing too taxing and basically boils down to the same handful of puzzles, but I liked the style of it and some of the art is really nice.

Thanks to Kayser as well.

Now, because of the limit, I have Broken Sword stuck on loading on my screen and I can't seem to be able to delete the app, how do I get rid of that?
and yes I have no real wifi at home where I'm on 3g hdspa 7.2mb and on the ipad i have 5 gigs per month at 3.2mb and after those five gigs of data it's limited to 64kb surfing, lol. But damn, this quite the bad news for me. Hotspots are almost nonexistent here (when i was living in london it was awesome since i could walk around and play online wifi with my nintendo ds for free) so besides in highspeed trains where i know they offer free wifi, how do you guys manage if you want to rent a movie on the go? am I screwed?
Btw, you guys have been really helpful!

Plug your iPad into your computer and iTunes will prompt you for your password and then it'll download to your computer after which you can sync it across.

What?
I have a macbook pro and quite a nice gaming rig htpc.
I simply didn't know (thanks matthsv) that pluggin it to let my mac handle the dl would be the only way to get rid of an app stuck in downloading..

So I got Broken Sword Directors cut for free, is this game played by the girl the whole time?

I remember playing the playstation version of the original with the guy but never finished it, so can you play the original guy in this Directors Cut iPhone version?

That's just the 'prologue' bit, the real game so to speak kicks in after about an hour or so :)

ah, sorry, I assumed when trying to download Apps through 3G or on trains that the obvious solution would'nt be available.

The original game is all in there; they just add some new scenes where you play as Nico, filling in the back story of what she was doing when George was off doing his investigating around the world. I'm not a huge fan of the new stuff, but it does solve the problem of it looking like she just sat at her table for the whole game.

The new stuff ends about halfway through the game, so you don't have to stick with it for too long.

Just wanted to chime in to say that my wife and I are noobs to iPod Touch gaming... I have to say that we're both really impressed. We both enjoy stuff like Fruit Ninja, Doodle Jump, Angry Birds, etc., and I'm just loving the Cave shooters. So impressive to see those games running as smooth as they do on this platform. Also like Pix'n Rush, although the non-tactile controls of the touchscreen are still throwing me for a loop. Hopefully I get used to it, but so far it's been pretty difficult.

I'm guessing it won't be long before there's an iPad in our household as well. Thanks to everyone in here for the great recommendations!

I was going to complain about a lack of a tutorial, but I myself cant think of a great way to describe the controls.

Gameplay and style are really weird, but I enjoyed both. The game is pretty hard, and I wasn't able to beat the last water stage. The controls took a bit of getting used to, and every once in a while I felt like I jumped diagonally when I meant to go upwards, but most of my deaths were my own fault. I found the slow water levels frustratingly hard, but look forward to move levels, maybe ones quicker than the normal stage?

I'd recommend it to the GAFfer that wants to try something interesting (you control a whale with a waving flag that sprouts at the end) and has a bit of patience.

So what's the consensus on Aralon? Does it succeed at being a mini-Elder Scrolls?

It's no Morrowind but its hard not to be impressed with what they've achieved. I've played a rogue up to about lvl 14 so far and I've got no intention of stoppin anytime soon, I'm really enjoying it.

Bit Trip HD (and Bit Trip as well) are just €0,79 and AWESOME.
I loved the Wiiware game but this is outstanding as well.

Geo Light Wars is free (guess the clone, eheh), didn't try it yet

I don't know what it is about Infinity Blade that I like so much. The game is repetitive and short. Here I am though at level 33 and still going at it.

That looks really interesting. I may pick it up tomorrow sometime.

graphics reminds me of an homage to the Commodore 64 port of Bubble Bobble,
That alone already kinda gives me a nice vibe :)

Snagging the ipad version right now. I hope this trend of re-releasing old point and clicks continues.

Blade Runner would be a dream come true, but it sounds very unlikely. According to an article in a recent Edge, licensing is a nightmare and the archive is most likely lost. An updated port is nearly out of the question.

Same here. The game was amazing.
