I've used TeamViewer, and it always worked great and very fast. Works on PC/Mac/iOS, you can control any computer from any computer. It's also free for personal use.
That's what I use, I works really well. From the looks of it it is pretty similar to screens. The fact it's free is all the sweeter especially since I don't use it enough to warrant paying for that kind of app.

I won an iPod Touch 4th Gen 8 gig.. although I am happy but the 8 gig is pretty useless.

I am very impressed with the device, coming from someone who just got a prepaid cell phone in November 2010.

Ditto. TeamViewer works well enough for me, and is free.

8gig with today's beefy app sizes isn't too good but at long as you only keep what you actualyl play on the device you will have plenty of room, my 8gb is still rocking today with about 1gb spare and I have tons of stuff installed, some of the more fun entertaining games are only 20mb! :D

Ah, that makes sense because the difficulty drop off is quite severe. Do you know if there is any intention of crafting more levels past 100?

I'm not sure. I'll see if I can find out.

so just wanted to check something

when my ipod syncs my apps with my pc the pc doesn't backup my save data or anything? so if I remove a game from my ipod to free up space I'll lose any progress?

I think it depends on what app. In iTunes it has a section for app data. The only game I have that has it is Beneath a Steel Sky.

Totally unrelated but I think I remember it being like this but Space Invaders Inf Gene is won't give me some game center achvmnts...? I know I'm not alone

if you delete a game, you lose your progress. it sucks. the save is not a file that can be accessed by users. it's deleted from the iphone when you delete the app.

however, all your data in all your apps - including game saves - is part of the entire iphone backup in itunes. which means that if you change your phone, you can restore the backup and all your app data will be retained with the new device.

damn now I'm really wishing I had gotten a 64GB for Christmas instead of a 32GB :-(

Since the steam sale is ending, I wanted to see if I'd be better off getting Riven for PC instead of iphone, it's much cheaper on steam, but I'm wondering how well they pull it off on iOS.

Haha what a spoiled comment :P

my dad only got the 32gb for me since my parents hadn't bought anything for me for Christmas yet and Amazon gave him a gift card for the purchase so it was $270 with no tax and he got a $25 gift card for himself :lol

Okay guys, Flunkie game recommendation time!

Every single one of you needs to download Disc Drivin', a turn-based, asynchronous, disc-oriented racing game with powerups. Need I say more? Well, if your answer is "yes," let me point you to the TouchArcade review - here.

There's a free version, which is the full game with ads, or a paid version for $2.99 with no ads.

Disc Drivin' Free
- Free
Disc Drivin' - $2.99

Add me to play Disc Drivin' - my name is "Flunkie", go figure.

If anyone is needing more Game Center friends, like me, feel free to add me - my name is "jtp4455" on there. I wish I could change my username, in retrospect. If anyone adds me, please tell me who you are on GAF. :)

And if you still haven't downloaded Gun Bros, what the hell are you waiting for? It's a free dual-stick shooter that uses Game Center to sync your "bros" up with your friends, and then uses each others' bros in-game. Probably the neatest Game Center implementation yet. It's also really addicting.

Gun Bros - Free

There's this game called Zombie Farm. Yes, it's another management game, or "FarmVille clone" or whatever you want to call it, but this one is actually somewhat fun and not all bad. Hell, I hate FarmVille and I'm hooked on Zombie Farm.. so it can't be that bad. The big thing about this game is, instead of just growing crops and buying decorations, you can grow zombies too, and then send them to "invade", earning you more cool stuff (gift boxes, coins, brains (the in-game "metacurrency")

It's another freemium game with Game Center and Facebook (friends) support, so why not give it a try?

Zombie Farm - Free

Carcasssone is a game that I'm sure everyone is familiar with, but I want to get some people to play with since I just recently began playing it frequently - so PM me and we can set up a game!

Carcassonne - $9.99 now, because it's universal

Gun Bros is pretty fun for a few hours, but it's one of those "free" games that really makes the player suffer if they aren't willing to pay real money for in-game items. Plus it gets really repetitive after you beat the original "waves" for each of the two planets. Worth trying out for free though of course.

The appeal for me is getting your friends into it and leveling together. It's pretty awesome stuff with friends, but if you're just playing it by yourself, I can definitely see it getting stagnant after awhile.

Seems pretty simple but fun. I'll hold off until Gamecenter integration comes along. I'm not sure why it doesn't have it right off the bat, though.

Jeff Minter plays his game in this "newish" video.

Some information (and screens) here.

How about if you mashed up Spacewar and Asteroids? And rather than make it a slow and somewhat thoughtful game like Asteroids, you sped everything up and gave the player a zillion bullets - like the difference between Berzerk and Robotron? (My guiding thought at that time was WWJD - What Would Jarvis Do?) And chuck in saucers and other ideas from the kind of arcade games of that era - a rescue mission, a defence mission... how about multiplayer... and how about do it all in the style of the VCS but since we're in the Neon 2 engine we can have feedback and partcles and and and...

It all started to come together pretty quickly after that, and within a couple of weeks I had a pretty reasonable demo of a game, done in the VCS style, running on the touchscreen all in one PC. This I thought would be something I could at least show at the R3PLAY expo. In keeping with the retro theme and something new, albeit running on somewhat obscure hardware (not that many touchscreen PCs out there yet) but showing an intent.

...

The first game in the series is called Minotaur Rescue (I decided to have minotaurs as a theme running through all the games, because hey, I like minotaurs). It has a couple of modes of the game I described, playable by up to 4 players at once on the iPad (each player using an area of the screen to control their ship). It's good fun in multiplayer and a great game in singleplayer too (with online hiscores for the single player modes). In the spirit of doing things in the VCS style I even added in bonus games of Tank and Jets, because hey, we all used to play those games on those old systems too.

It actually gets a lot better as you level up and buy stuff. They vary the enemies significantly and the weapons are fairly different. I played it a couple times and put it to the side as another shitty freemium game, but gave it a real chance after someone was pimping it. Level a bit, buy some speed increasing pants (with money earned in-game, not real money...crazy) and the game is a ton better.

Did Game Center stop forcing email adds for adding friends?

Yeah, you can add either via email or username now.

Tried disc drivin.

Right now I wouldn't recommend it.

Feels very slow and the match making is pretty shoddy (you have to know the guys username to play!). The move updates take a while and the interface is pretty poor.

It runs well though and has good potential.

I feel like such a "iTunes app review loser" for saying this but if it drops back down to $5ish and Gamecenter, I'm all over it ;)

Same. $10 is too steep for me, unfortunately. $5 is where I would bite.

should have bought it when it was 5 then! they gave a year of advance warning! :p

i wonder if it will ever go down in price. it never did at 5 but maybe they'll feel like having a 10->5 sale at some point. i dunno. my most played iphone game by like 100x in any event so probably worth it at thrice the price to me

Pay money for good programming should be the subtitle for this thread. It is so damn hard to read this thread because of this concept that people shouldn't be rewarded for making a good product.

and then crap like that broken sword remake gets a pass for being awful, not including subtitles and running the art because it's free.

Oh I know. There are games that I will not hesitate paying $10 for one bit. After paying top dollar for console and PSP/DS games over the years, I have absolutely no problem with the pricing of iPhone/iPad games. These things are bargains. It's just I've never played this one before so I'm a bit hesitant. I'll get it eventually, though!

Hopefully they'll do some promotions once the expansions are ready for release. Can't wait for more Carcassonne!

Unfortunately I haven't heard about any expansions though I do know that is vaguely in the plans (maybe someone else has?). The GameCenter update is the next one though, which will be nice.

Don't think that has anything to do with. It's a value proposition issue. When you can get hours of entertainment from decent $.99 games, why spend more on games that are only marginally better?

Now Carc is one I would definitely pay $10-15 for just because it's freaking awesome and offers a unique experience, but I'm not buying SE games until they are cheaper simply because there are similar experiences for much cheaper on the platform.

Is Dungeon Hunter 2 the only Gameloft game with Game Center support?

Weird how none of their other games have it.

I'd actually play Modern Combat 2 online if it had GameCenter.

Mad Skills Motocross next week!

What are you even talking about? The Broken Sword DC is far from awful, it's been very well ported to the platform in my opinion. The hotspots make it less of a pixel hunt than it otherwise would be on a screen like the iPhone and the new content is actually pretty interesting. Admitedly some of the changes aren't ideal but it doesn't suddenly make it an awful game.

And it has subtitles on by default as far as I'm aware so I don't know how you've come to the conclusion it doesn't have any.
