Ok, you guys had my attention with all that great feedback, so I went and bought Flick Kick Football :)

Is there a specific thread to add GAFfers to GameCenter?
 
I searched awhile back, and it seems that there is, but almost nobody used it.

So add me: jtp4455

I apologize for it not being the same as my GAF username - I usually hate guys who do that since I can't ever keep who's who straight on all of my many friends lists, but it's a choice I made and I'm sticking to it! (I have to :p)

iPad noon, any good rpg games? The op has no good info :p and the app store i couldn't work out how to search for games by genres....
 
My classic 5-year old iPod busted a while back so I ended up replacing it just recently with a Touch. Couple questions after checking the App Store for the first time:

- Any "must-trys" worth giving a look into? I know of most of the "big titles" (Angry birds, PVZ) but the library's huge and I don't know where to begin.

- Any specific differences I should know in certain games? I read here and there of a couple games with framrate differences between the iPod/iPhone and wanted to know of any warnings before purchases.

Thanks for any help, now to first and foremost buy Enviro-bear.
 
Just spend an hour or so looking through the last few pages, at least.
There's been some really good recommendation posts over the past week or so.

Don't just wait on others to add you, try to at least add some of those posted above you on the list if you want to get the ball rolling... It's up to you.

It's got really poor reviews on the JP App Store. Mostly 1-3 stars. It's said to be lacking in content, aimed more at beginners. It's only 115 yen, but still most people are not really satisfied with it. Their onsen game looks a bit more interesting.

Honestly, neither do I. I've played so much 1v1 Carc with just my wife that trying to play these 3, 4, or 5 person games is a struggle...but a ton of fun! I especially like when Astro doesn't play. I feel like the Washington Generals when I see that bastard.
 
4-5 player games are mostly a crapshoot, but if you haven't experienced enough, they are quite daunting. You need to play completely differently to a 2 player game. They're all about steals and blocks. No more massive cities, because the chances of getting specific pieces are a lot lower.

What kind of games is Gamecentre good for? I haven't paid much attention to it really, no idea what my name is or anything or how many acheivements I have. Would be cool to play some multiplayer though, esp asynchronous. What kind of games are good for the MP side and what kind of games does GAF play?

On another note, DLed the free Mirror's Edge today and gave it a go, seems great so far. The running games like Canabault seem a little too simple/short to me but this has a good mix of actions to keep the gameplay interesting and the graphics are outstanding. I loved ME on the 360 anyway so more of that universe is very welcome.

Also finished up Monkey Island 1 last night, that was a fantastic game and proved to me how exellent these games work on the system. Does anyone know if Lucasarts plan on porting over more of their catalogue? Seems like such a no-brainer, there are a couple of generations of people who've never played these games and the iTouch seems the perfect platform for them. Starting Broken Sword now...

Yeah that is the nice thing about the big games and why 4p is my favorite. It's very luck-based, but not totally so. You can gain an edge with some good tactical decisions, but at the same time one or several "screw-ups" or even attacks against you will not ruin you for the entire game. Pretty much my favorite type of boardgame is one where you're rewarded for playing well, but one that also has a healthy amount of luck such that you don't have to treat every move like it's life or death and that's what Carc really is, especially in the bigger games.

And also thanks to the elo ratings system you get rewarded even sometimes for finishing 3/4 or 4/5 depending on how much more highly ranked your opponents are (not that anyone really cares about elo too much or anything, but it's just sort of nice to have a persistent rating across all your friend matches) so you don't have to feel like you lost just by not finishing first.

There's actually some really cool stat-tracking in the game now. If you go to high scores-->Internet Friends and then click on people (including yourself) you can see exactly what % of their points come from cities, roads, fields, and cloisters.

anyone else have odd problems with GameCenter not recognizing all your games? I've played Cut the Rope but it only recognizes I have Cut the Rope Holiday

Same thing happened to me until it magically worked. Now Strategery isn't recognizing stuff. Field Runners has never worked with GC for me.

GameCenter is so fucking janky

yeah for me it originally only recognized one game and now it says I have 6

I know I have a lot more than 6 GameCenter games :lol

Same here, at first it said I had no game, then 2, now they're four I think... alhtough I have a ton more, but for example Cut The Rope was added only after going online with it, so that's probably it, you just need to play the games while online and they'll get added.

Block Rogue is on its way out, and looks tremendous.

It's not a rogue. It looks like a Sokoban type of game, with lots of charm and humour, visit the site above for the story and examples of such. There's a trailer there too. Pretty.

$2, or $3 on iPad

My name is Damiano, my first Game Center profile was tied to an iTune account which was not owned by me but by "Franco", so when I noticed that sending friend request GC was sending them as "request by Franco" I tried to change it to my account (so "by Damiano). I didn't know if I was successfull in swapping the profiles, that's why I asked.
Mystery solved? ^_^
