So all I use my touch for is gaming, can anyone recommend a battery extending case?

Plus the touch is too skinny, not enough to hang onto.

I take it iPad apps are forbidden from accessing bluetooth for controllers or something?
Actually they are, but unless someone such as Apple itself comes out with a successful and de-facto controller (unlikely due to the nature of iDevices), developers will not put any effort into that, and rightfully so.

which is unfortunate. i was looking forward to time gal especially, and perhaps a few others.[/QUOTE]
I still own this on my mega cd but I like how they changed the control method to actually steering the wheel instead of tapping the screen sides, plus the game is awesome and over the top aka So Awesome.

Downloaded Sushi Cat (again, can't go wrong with free) and Minotaur Rescue since I loved Space Giraffe so much, can't wait to try them out on my lunch break!

Checked out Game Centre too when I saw I had a request from jayayess, can't believe I'd never even loaded it up before haha. And I'm such a 360 achievment whore too! If anyone wants to add me my name is Jedeye Sniv - I'll send out some invites from the GAF list later on too, get some leaderboard fun going. If only Tetris had GC leaderboards, I posted an amazing high score yesterday, very proud of it.

so uh, i downloaded mirror's edge since it was free but for some weird reason the game is in chinese! anyone know how i might be able to change it to english so i could, you know, actually read the text in it?

i got my iphone set on finnish, if that's of any use.

Had to buy Minotaur Rescue, it'd be rude not to. It's definitely a Minter game <3

Or a minoter game lololol :D

The dude needs to release more stuff though, hopefully iOS is a good fit for him and he can put stuff out at a higher pace.

With the iPhone set to English, the game is also in English. No Finnish translation perhaps?

My phone is in Swedish but no offical game or app is (almost). They should all become English but this one is not for some reason either for me. It is chinese also :(

Also downloaded Sushi Cat. It's ok for free. I just played through the whole thing in 20 minutes, so paying for it I would have felt cheated.

just found out that you can just change the game to english by tapping the second from the left icon on the main menu, then the top icon and just scroll right until you'll find English.

but yeah, really strange that the game is in chinese. . .

This is where the in-game language setting is from the main menu:

Edit: That's what you get for leaving this thread open in a tab for ages without refreshing.

Happened to me too (Swede) :lol luckily I found the language options by trial & error.

Saw that Canabalt and Chopper 2 got sweet updates so I snagged both at $0.99. You can actually play Chopper 2 on a TV using your iPod/iPhone/iPad. I would love for more games to adopt this feature.

Happened to me too, but I saw this solution. Thanks GAF!

Also weird how every app defaults to english but this one did not...

It's a bit of a novelty. Fact is, these games aren't exactly all that impressive to behold and showing them on a large TV screen only serves to highlight that fact. What looks great on a phone screen can look pretty awful on a TV screen.

True. I haven't even tried it yet. Just sounds like a cool idea in theory.

Just played a bit of Minotaur Rescue, seems to be a fun little game. My first few tries I sucked but then I posted a very respectable score of 185334 netting me 36 on the board. Get in!

I find that the controls are strange but when you get used to them work pretty well. Stroke gently to turn, hold a bit to move, it takes a little getting used to though, you will suck for the first few goes.

Max Adventure also has a TV out mode I think.

picked up a bunch of games yesterday.

This game Pig Pilot is pretty fun.
You have to jerry rig a custom hang glider in order to reach distance and altitude goals.

No Human and Canabalt both awesome too.

Does anyone have Reiner Knizia's Samurai? I'm thinking of grabbing it but without people to play against the value seems limited.

Yes. It's a good game and has solid asynchronous play. The gameplay of Samurai though is a lot more thinky and stresses me out more (funny since the rules are actually even simpler than Carc's) though so I don't play it nearly as much. There are a handful of other gaffers who own it too.

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on Carcassone. How good are the instructions for someone who has never played it before?
The in-game tutorial is good, as is the in-game manual. This is the tabletop manual if you want the absolute definitive version with multiple examples: http://www.riograndegames.com/uploads/Game/Game_48_gameRules.pdf 4 pages really and takes maybe ten minutes to read and learn. That is the thing about Carc, I think maybe the art is throwing people that it's even a semi-complex game, but it's absolutely not. It's justifiably got a long-standing reputation in the eurogame community as one of the best games to play with casuals/non-gamers. And not only that but it has some excellent tactical depth as well as a good amount of luck sprinkled in, which is what keeps me coming back (>250 GAF games and counting). And this is the thread if you want to join in: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=397985&page=12 Got over 10 GAF games going on myself right now.

Very simple to learn.

Thanks Astro. I'll probably grab it this week sometime, figure it out and we'll have to give it a play.

Awesome. Thanks so much for the info. I'll be pulling the trigger when I go home for lunch and have a wi-fi connection. I'll be sure to post my info in that thread once I get going.

Carcassone is listed as a Game Center game, but when you go to the game in the APP store it doesn't have the Game Center Logo.

It shouldn't be. But maybe the error is because the next update is going to be the Game Center one. Not sure when it's coming out though.

when you press look up Game Center games from the Game Center App its one of the featured titles. Does it work like Words with Friends? I make a move and it pops up to let you know and you just go ahead and make your move?

Also Lego Harry Potter had Game Center removed. Any word on if that'll come back in a future update?

Yes exactly. Games can take an hour or a month. For GAF games it's totally just go at your own pace. Also you can play 2-5p.

maybe this has been addressed but I can't find it, can Carcassonne be played by more than one person on a single ipad? i.e. can I use it as a mobile substitute for a real Carcassonne kit when traveling?

Yes, can be played up to 5p locally as well and everyone can have their own profiles. You can also mix in some of the CPU personalities if you like.

One big criticism of Minotaur Rescue - crashes when listening to the iPod. Not good, a perfect podcast game most likely relegated to occasional plays while at home :(

Hey guys I just wanted to let you know that I was featured in the First Developer Spotlight over at AppUnderdogs, a new iphone site catering towards finding hidden gems in the App Store.

I talk a lot about the development process and how I was able to make my game Shelly the Shell Master in 6 weeks with no prior development experience. So I think it might be pretty interesting for those of you thinking about diving into development for iOS. Of course I'd be more than happy to answer any follow up questions you might have.

Here's the link:

Yay! Zen Puzzle Garden for iPad just cracked the Top 200 Overall in the US under its own steam in the last hour. Thanks to those here who helped us it get there.

Zen Puzzle monk is celebrating. On the inside.

I have a promo code for the first poster who wants the game that can throw me a "Confucius say" joke.
