Sworcery is definetily Retina in the menus, where you can actually see it.

And yeah the multi tasking is broken, but that will be fixed next version I am sure.

Yes, here in the menu you can see the circular dialog boxes are retina, though even the in game gradients (the smaller horizontal bands running along the bottom) are made from 4x4 pixel blocks suggesting non-retina.

Maybe there's an in-game screen where it looks retina too, but it's a very hard thing to pick up on from a glance so far. It's nice to have confirmation now, as mentioned previously the TA forums were suggesting it wasn't retina.

There's some small weirdness with multitasking. Most people have no issue, then some do sometimes and not others. Not sure how/when it popped up cause that was an area we were worried about and tested. We're looking into it, but any help via PM (mostly when/where it acted weird) would be appreciated.

However, its definitely worth noting that we're always saving your location & reloading (no matter what) so there should be no progression loss either way.

If you get a call/text/notification and the game doesn't multitask (ie. it quits) there's nothing we can do, thats the device running out of memory and canceling lower-importance applications (like sworcery). Not sure if that's the same issue, but yea, we'll be looking at it.

Bought Dead Space, Reckless Racing, Max and the Magic Marker and Risk... all for $0.99 each. Can't resist buying games at that price :O

NBA Jam is great :o

i agree. there's also an option where it doesnt have the virtual stick on the screen and you can actually use gestures for various shots. (which i happen to love)

i grabbed reckless racing and scrabble for £0.59, tempted by fifa though i htink it will probably suck on a touchscreen device? (ipad2)

There are some tricks to prevent your app to be closed in those cases. You can't avoid your application to be closed, but you can force your app to be closed the last one if you free enough memory when go to multitasking. When iOS needs more memory, you want that your application in background consume less memory than others applications in background. So free sounds and graphics resources when you go to background and load them again when you restore the app.

PES is pretty bad ass with touch controls. fifa on the other hand... it could be as good?

edit: oops i meant PES!

Damn, why are those not $0.99 in the US?

All games for iPad in the Swedish app store. Thinking of buying some more EA games for $0.99... anyone know if Pictureka or scrabble is any good?

yes it will suck. stick with PES 2011 if you want a universal version of footie.

Scrabble has had some great updates to it, but it's no Words with Friends, which is still the best scrabble experience (and free). It's a fun iPad game to pass and play though.

How is Max and the Magic Marker?

I'm tempted, and it's not the price that is putting me off, but the amount of unplayed games I have. I just don't want to waste my time in a bad game.

Any opinions?

I've never understood this. How is Words with Friends better? I'm a player and I don't get it. No >2 players, no dictionary options (or other gameplay options for that matter), apparently crashes for lots of people. It's as barebones as it gets and doesn't even do that very well.

It's quite good. worth way more than the price they are asking right now (by a long shot).

Yeah, Sword and Sorcery is most definitely not in high res on iphone 4. True, the game is pixellated by design, but you can still clearly see it on text, and even on regular game graphics to be honest, as it has that soft-edge look that upscaled 320x480 games have.

Can you gift them to american's at .99 :D ?

Tried Dead Space for a few minutes. I read all of the criticism that was posted on it here and I expect EA/Iron Monkey's typical kinda 'watered down and a bit soulless' adaptation style (which is often still solid, look at the NFS titles) but I must say the first few minutes are a bit more impressive than I expected, pretty cool stuff!

Why don't you play it on iPad, the way it's meant to be played?

It's one of those standout titles. The presentation is great and the gameplay is exactly what you expect - a charming fusion if platforming and crayon physics. The levels are bit sized (angry birds style) and the gameplay offers some experimenting (especially if you turn hints off). My one complaint is that many of the tons of levels are really similar. It's definitely fun, slightly challenging (if you want to max every level), extremely polished and worth the money.

can you let me know how risk is? ive never played risk (might surprise a few) but always liked the sound of it.
I've never played the iOS version of Risk, but I've been playing the board game for over 20 years now and it's literally the best.

Am I crazy or did S&S used to also have a digital joystick type control? Was just playing and all I could use was touch to move.
Either you are crazy or you played it after a little too much 4/20 celebrating. It's always been 'point and click' inspired.

Always been touch to move, and thank god. If I never see another tactile-deficient iPhone D-pad, it would be a blessing.

I was the same way, I know people's main complaint with the game is the level design and I definitely agree that it leaves a lot to be desired, but I had a really great time with the game regardless. It looks ridiculous now on iPad 2 and the controls were a lot better than I expected (although I did have a few frustrating moments while trying to use kinesis mid-fight). I totally agree that it feels like the game just emulates the experience of dead space instead of trying to strike out on its own, but it feels way too much like dead space to not be fun.

So almost everything from EA in the US appstore is 0.99cents now.

So I bought Max and the Magic Marker for iPad (99c).

Is Command and Conquer Red Alert for iPad any good? At least 99c?

These EA sales are kind of predictable and unfair to other developers, but NBA Jam and Dead Space seem like no-brainers. I had been waiting for them to go on sale.

Just bought the iPad versions of Dead Space and Max and the Magic Marker as promised.

Wondering about other possible purchases. Maybe Hot Pursuit iPhone and... Risk?

Any recommendations?

the iphone version of mirror's edge is 99 cents too (but not the ipad version) so if you're buying for iphone too I'd probably get that.

I got the ipad version of Boggle for myself, I was really hoping Monopoly or Life would have their ipad versions on sale so I could have a board game to play when friends come over but I don't know how good they are.

Carcassonne is a brilliant boardgame.

Not sure if it's on the iPad though.

Settlers of Catan as well.

There's another one...fuck...can't remember the name.

Blockus! That's a solid one too. :)

Anyone know what the differences between all of the Sims 3 iphone games are? I feel like I should get one, but I don't know if Ambitions or the subsequent ones play alongside or replace the base Sims 3 game.
