are you using the shit out of it? lol

I'm up to 400MB surfing a lot and much faster

do any of you restrict your connection to 3G?

I wonder how many people are also using the shit out of their phone and how that is impacting atts network performance

edit: forgot to ask uhhh anyone having touch screen issues or some unresponsiveness?

I think it is safari but sometimes the orientation change wont work but if I switch apps it will(iPod for example)

There's bound to be a shitload of strain. Even the upgraders are going to use their phones pretty heavily the first few weeks.
 
I read a small article in a local paper about a rumor that Verizon will be an eligible provider by early next year. Any truth to this?
 
I'm at 35 Megabytes now, having bought the iPhone seven days ago. Do you guys download your apps with 3G or something? The only time I download apps is when I'm connected to my own Wifi.

First thing I did with my iPhone 4 was download the iBooks app (20mb) and was like "Shit that would've been 10% of the monthly bandwidth right there if I was on the 200mb plan."

And I think with Pandora and other internet radio apps now being able to play in the background on iOS4 that people are gonna be using a lot more 3G data than before. That's why I kept my same contract with unlimited data.
 
Haha, I went to check my cellular data usage right now and it said I had sent 300MB and received 2.2GB. I thought, wtf already? Then I checked when I last reset my statistics... 9/30/2009. The info rolled over from my 3G. :lol :lol :lol
 
Okay guys, so I am in a BIG debate. I have been patient on waiting for the new white iPhone 4, but the wait is killing me. Does ANYONE have any idea on how long it may be until they get it out?

I am debating on buying a black one, and having it shipped to me. They said I have 30 days to return it with a 10% restocking fee, but that 20 bucks is an easy feat to use the phone for 30 days. I am just worried that they wont get white in within 30 days, and be without a white one ever..

Also, how has apple's shipping been? It says 3 weeks til shipping on the white bumper. Will I get it by 3 weeks from now? or could it be longer? I need my new phone soon though. the 3G sucks balls with the new update.

That's weird, because those stats are device specific.

They normally start at 0 regardless of if a backup was used.
 
I've used about 30 MB, according to my account page. I've been on wi-fi pretty much from day one, but the significant rise in usage must have come from Thursday, when I decided to turn off the wi-fi to see how much data I would use in a typical day. I decided to upgrade to the 2 GB data regardless. The whole data plan cap is nonsense, but I can at least take comfort in knowing I won't be anywhere near 2 GB in a typical billing cycle.

You would think "power users" suck down all the bandwidth, but it's typically technologically-challenged people that sit at their desk all day listening to Pandora/ESPN radio. They could go through over 200mb a day, easily, doing that and never even understand the ramifications for the cellular network. Just look at app reviews, you'll see stuff like "Our work blocked Pandora because it was slowing down the internet or something, so everyone in the office got iPhones and now it works perfectly! AWESOME APP"

I think that's perfectly fine, but it's funny when you think of who's actually using all the data on the network.
 
I'm a little bit over 45MB in over a week and after 4 days of heavy use of email for work. What I'm most happy is that I went to Orlando, FL to celebrate my kid 7 birhday and my phone survived in my pocket with no scratches through all the rides at Magic Kingdom. :D

I read somewhere that it would take 4 hours a day every day for the entire month to hit the 2GB limit. Not sure if that's true. Anyone have any numbers on Pandora bandwidth usage?

It's like 64kbps I think. What's that like 30mb an hour? You're looking at over 7 gigs of usage at 4 hours a day.

EDIT: Or actually half of that, 3600 megs. Don't know what went wrong with my maths there. Take out weekends and you're just over the cap at 2600 megs.
 
Thanks K2Valor, I grabbed PAC-MAN CE. I got Oregon Trail last week for the discount price as well. I think it's hilarious that friggen Oregon Trail is the largest app on my phone.
 
Just got back from the Apple Store. Almost had a hard time getting the third iPhone (for the family, not selling :P ), but luckily I had the coolest employee ever. Guy was incredibly patient and just a fun guy to hang around with.

Can't wait to goof around on this thing.

It felt like there was something wrong with it when I checked out the iPhone 4 at an Apple Store.

Safari's scrolling has always been slower than native apps on purpose.

I've had my bumper for a week and don't think I'd buy another.

It's often a pain to get out of jeans because of the rubber rims, and in really hot weather it becomes quite loose.

Really? I like my black bumper. It looks a lot better than the shitty silicon cases my co-workers are using. I think many of them are waiting for the new otterbox to come out.
 
Eh. It's kind of a annoying that new cases are just trickling in slowly. I wish Apple would just give a heads up to companies about the dimensions on these things, but obviously that would go against all of Apple's secrecy about their devices.

I already scratched the back glass on my like a moron last night. I had it charging on my dresser, pulled a shirt out of my bottom drawer, and didn't notice the cord got caught up in the drawer. So later when I went to pull the phone from the charger the lack of slack caught me by surprise and slipped out of my hand, banging on the dresser and then falling on the floor.

Kind of weird though, I can't see the scratch directly. I have to tilt it a certain way in natural light. I guess I'd call it more of a scuff mark than a scratch.
