aint it a certain amount of pixels that have to be dead before you can do that?

I recall on Imacs it was like at least 10 or they wouldnt do it!
I took my iPad to the genius bar with a single dead pixel and they swapped it out without complaint.

finally let my battery run completely out.

started a movie when I hit 15% remaning to make it go down faster...wifi and BT on...movie played for 76 minutes. (!) went all the way down to 1%.

Just ordered my black iPhone. Has ANYONE been able to buy a white one yet? I only have 30 days to get that black one back into AT&T for a swap. also, would anyone recommend getting the 2 yr apple care plan?

is there any kind of statute of limitations on that or is it pretty much for the life of the warranty? It doesn't bother me too much, but It'd be nice to know that I can just take it in and swap it.

the white phone isn't out until later this month. so no, nobody would have been able to buy one.

no, I would not recommend the apple care plan. it does not cover accidental damage, so what's really the point.

Though they may be able to go "Well thats just wear and tear" and then you'd be fucked :P

Just do it now.

Also, someone would give me some good game recommendations for my new iPhone 4. I have very few, and I know the 4th has an awesome sale. Also any amazing apps that someone has that would like to share would be great!

These are the games I currently have (shot from my old iphone 3g):

you don't have Plants vs. Zombies.

get it.

goddamnit, the "pull down to refresh" action in the Twitter app is the most awesome touch gesture ever. I don't even need to refresh anything, I just like watching the arrow flip up and down!

I always wonder who buys games like those on the bottom level...
I'm not saying they're necessarily bad, as I haven't played them, they just seem like uninteresting shovelware.

I agree. It's such a clever and obvious gesture I expect Apple to implement it their own apps in future revisions.

I hope so, but they're already using that gesture to pull down the search bar in their apps (Mail & Notes).

.

lol. they were free. and yes, they are just there to make the icon on the folder look nice and plump :)

That is why they are on the bottom though.

The first moron test is by far the best, the new ones they added are kind of... gimmicky. But yeah, the first one was neato.

lol yeah. I liked the moron test. I just wish I had some good actual on the go games. I also haven't seen any "I MUST HAVE THAT" apps exclusive to iPhone 4, but I guess they may be in the works. New camera functions means more apps for that?

I like H.A.W.X., and I believe it's still 99 cents on sale. Stay away from Metal Gear Solid: Touch, IMO.

Edit: I enjoy those Tap Tap Revenge games, and I believe they're free, but the song licensing costs and I imagine the popularity of the games combined means they sell song DLC packs at like $3 to $4 a pack. I don't mind this, but unless I'm not looking hard enough, TTR3 has like two songs, tops.

There are a ton of good game recommendations in the official iPhone/iPod touch gaming thread on the other side of this forum.

Interesting observation, although I should have known better: I was at LAX waiting for some family friends to arrive. I thought it would be cool to get a picture of them arriving down the escalator into the baggage claim area -- they have small kids, and it might be cool for them to have a photo of their first-ever reaction to arriving in California. However, their flight was delayed on the ground waiting for a gate, so I was standing there with the camera at the ready and the screen unlocked waiting to get a shot for a long time. The phone got fairly hot and it chewed through about 30% of its battery in less than an hour. This makes sense in retrospect since a) the screen was on for most of that time, b) it was getting ready to shoot a picture, and c) the camera function also uses the GPS, which I think it is the big culprit. (Also, cell reception is absolute shit downstairs at LAX anyway.) Anyway, just a heads-up in case anyone is dumb enough to wait an hour to get a good candid shot. :|

Plants Vs. Zombies is compulsory, you don't even have a choice in the matter. Peggle will consume your life. Maybe Bejewled 2 too, thats good fun.

Asphalt 5 and NOVA are good racers/FPSs respectively. They get pretty close to feeling like 'real games', if that makes any sense.

Space Invaders - Infinity Gene is amazing, looks and plays brilliantly.

I was out in the sun listening to music yesterday when my iPhone overheated. Kind of sucks, because apparently I can't use it in the only scenario that I use iPods anymore.

Some other games worth checking out:

Solebon (solitaire based card games)
Mahjong Artifacts
Sword & Poker (1 & 2) excellent, excellent spin on creating a RPG poker game
Scrabble
Bookworm (make words, fun if you like word games)
Plants vs Zombies (super awesome defense tower twist, wish there'd be a sequel)
Defense Chronicles (super hard core 200+ hour of fantasy themed loot grinding defense tower themed, with VA and high production values, 100s of units at once).
Geo Defense (flashy space themed defense tower game)
Zenonia 1&2 (old school style anime-ish RPG)
Chaos Rings (final fantasy style RPG)
Final Fantasy Tactics (to be released, but will be awesome)
Secret of Mana (another tbr classic)
Phoenix Wright (contains the first four GBA games I think, the series gets a ton of love)
Espgaluda II (omg crazy best-of-class shump)

Ok, I don't have an iPhone 4, but I think this question can be answered quite fast anyway.

How come I have 7GBs of ''other'' data on my 3GS? What does it consist of? And why does it keep adding up?

The only thing I can think of is album covers, but never can't be 7GB:lol

I want to get rid of as much as ''other'' data as possible so I can add moar musak and appz :D.

Tilt to live, Robocalypse, Flight Control, Drop 7 (doesn't work on iOS4 yet but has a patch coming), are all great games.

The google app if you don't have that is badass also. You can use the search by holding the phone to your ear and talking. Makes porn easy and one handed to find.

Oh, boy. I was addicted to Flight Control on my iPod Touch for the longest time. I installed it to my iPhone, of course. It looks great. Very crisp visuals.

Shit I can't even believe that Apple has not even tried to discuss the proximity sensor issues. Its absolutely infuriating. I can't have a conversation longer than two minutes without accidentally pressing facetime/dialing/hold/mute/end call. I really hope 4.01 deals with this as resetting factory settings and all that hasn't done a thing for me. And from what I can tell replacing my phone won't necessarily fix this problem.

Return your phone for a replacement. I don't see how it's a software issue when I can't reproduce it no matter how hard I try.

I seriously don't think this is affecting everyone like the antenna thing. Maybe you should exchange it. I have zero proximity sensor issues.

The 50+ pages on the Apple forums have led me to believe its not isolated to just my phone. A majority of those people say that getting their phones replaced did not necessarily fix the problem. I'm going to wait until 4.01 and if there isn't a fix then go ahead and take it in for a replacement.

I never said it was just your phone, but there are clearly phones that are completely unaffected, unlike the antenna issue. If it's software, that wouldn't be the case.

It could just as easily be a result of the shape of your face as it could a defect in the phone. Perhaps the sensor in all iPhone 4's is just incredibly finicky. I've had problems with mine, but only when I hold it to the left side of my face or if I talk while driving.

I'm having the same issue. This never happened to me with my 3G but it's happening like crazy with my iPhone 4. When I'm on a call sometimes I can see the screen light up out of the corner of my eye, and once I put a call on hold by mistake. Kind of annoying. I hold the phone on the left side of my face in a way where my face can't hit the touch interface now, but I really hope the update does something to fix this.

Love my iPhone 4.

Here she is.

This is my first ever iPhone. Waited in line on Launch day, totally worth it. Switched over from Verizon. I had been carrying around a Touch pro 2 and a iPod touch 64GB to tether to for months, couldn't stand it anymore.

The crazy thing? So far my reception on ATT and iPhone 4 is far better than I ever received on Verizon with any phone. Couldn't love this thing more.

Ordered the Bamboo case made by Grove. Got a sick LOST inspired design I made in illustrator to be engraved into the back.Currently rocking the white bumper until the wooden case comes in.

Oh also, I love facetime. My grilfriend and a bunch of other friends al have the iPhone 4 as well, so I think Ive used as much time on facetime as I have actual mins so far. Great feature.

True, but you can test the sensitivity and distance with your finger as well. I'm not sure what people with complaints are seeing, but I would assume they'd get inconsistent results, or distance shorter than normal.

Anyone here use ADT Pulse? Was intrigued to see that you can basically arm/disarm your home alarm from your iPhone. It carries an additional charge from ADT so I was curious if anyone uses it.

There's 3 plans for it, including thermostat control, lighting control, video monitoring, small appliances, etc. But I'd be just interested in arming/disarming and fire monitoring.

You know, the antenna issue was once claimed to be just some phones which we now know doesn't seem to the be case. So that doesn't mean that the proximity issue isn't either.

I've only encountered it once, but I did encounter it and I don't know how to reproduce it. Holding my hand over he sensor during a call seemed to work just fine. I also know my wife encountered it once cuz she accidently put her sister on mute, but also hasn't done it again. I think there is an issue, since this never happened with our 3Gs, but I still don't know the circumstances to replicate it.

edit: BTW, I find these videos so funny because of the way that the text to voice pronounces words. I used to do this in front of my friends and roommates with my ex-girlfriend's emails and we'd sit there laughing our asses off.

I love those videos! haha.

I think im going to download hawx and plants vs zombies and try those out. Thanks for the lists guys.

God the next 6-9 days is going to be going by SO SLOW! I won't have my iphone until then.
