What's the best application for calendars for a 3gs on a windows 7 machine?

I mean like, A windows calendar application that syncs with your phone.

google or windows live both offer exchange compatibility on iphone.

What's the cost to get the back case of the iPhone 4 replaced? I need to get it sorted before I sell it this year for whatever phone I'm getting, but can't with a scratch on the back.

I heard Apple stores do it for $29 and/or you may be able to convince them to do it one time for free

Prediction: The iPhone 5 will have curved glass on it.

Can you wait 2-3 months?

I just want a gesture area to mimic the multitasking gestures on the iPad, plus a gesture to bring up notification center.
Yes. But I would be pissed if I can't get one at launch and have to wait until my provider has it on stock again.

Oh, where are you located? I guess it's actually pretty hard to get one if you don't get one at launch--it becomes hard to get until like a month later. If you're in a launch country or a country that launches earlier than other international countries, maybe it will be easier. Then again, they have also been adding more and more launch countries each year, so it might be easier regardless.

Germany.

My gf waited 2-3 month for her iPhone 3GS although she ordered pretty quickly. Maaaan, decisions, decisions...

How stupid is it to get an iPhone 4 now?
Normally I'd say wait for the beginning of a new generation to optimize your upgrade cycles, but frankly the iPhone 4 is such a great phone I'd say fuck it and just buy one now.

Same here. I'm in Japan and I just don't know what to do. We get the phone usually almost at the same time as the US (I believe the first batch is US, France, UK, Japan, Germany?, or maybe the US is just slightly before those). I would want to preorder now, but I'm not sure I'll even get it on release date, and if I have to wait a month or two, I might just go with the iPhone 4....

Dunno, really.. :(

Knowing what the iPhone 5 will have would help a lot...

All I know is Apple needs to do the exact same pre-ordering thing (except have more site capacity) as last year - where it can be delivered on launch day to my doorstep. Please don't do another iPad 2 launch, Apple.

How is it still not possible to have more than one custom ringtone on the iPhone?

Btw.

The T-Mobile guy today told me that you can do preorders of the 4GS (as he called it) as early as Mid August.

Analyst Mike Abramsky with RBC Capital Markets said on Wednesday that Apple is "expected" to offer the iPhone 3GS for free when the iPhone 5 launches later this year. He said this approach would help Apple with mid-market buyers, and would also help the iPhone counter the growth of Google's Android platform.

Not sure how accurate this guy is, but it's definitely an interesting theory.

Free - iPhone 3GS 8GB
$99 - iPhone 4 16GB
$199 - iPhone 4S 32GB
$299 - iPhone 4S 64GB

What kind of Twitter apps do you guys use? My iPhone 4 is about three weeks old, and I'm still trying to decide which is best.. I'm currently using Echofon, and it basically does everything I'd want in a twitter app.. I just came across TwitBird and I'm just wondering if it's worth it to buy the Premium for 1.99 and then the 2.99 Global Push on top of it? Is spending that 5.00 avoidable with a free similar app WITH Push Notifications enabled?

I don't know if I want to jailbreak my phone because I've heard a lot of issues about push sucking when it's jailbroken, I'm also waiting for iOS5 to come out before I jailbreak it.

So, can anybody give me some suggestions, please?

Thanks :)

Why does everyone (especially new people) still use Echofon. It's hideous and it's uber crap. The official Twitter app is worlds better or if you want even better, try Tweetbot or Twitterific.

If you want push notifications, just go with the official client. Push servers are expensive for small third party developers so they don't really have a choice.

Since it's not important to me, I use Tweetbot.

push only 'sucks' on jaibroken devices if the user hackitaves the idevice (i.e. skips Apple's activation process, usually done when it's a locked iphone but the appropriate sim card isn't available) and then chooses not the get the fix afterwards. That's not the typical jailbreak experience.

Why wait for iOS5 before jailbreaking? iOS5 is still three months away, and even when it's released some jailbreak developers (like appstore developers) take a while to get their tweaks working on the new iOS version. No point waiting if you ask me.

yup, i bought one yesterday. I'd normally wait too, but i think it's such a great phone that it (and iOS 5) will survive a two year contract. And then the new iphone will be a real upgrade.

I don't care about push notifications, so I use osfoora for twitter. It even loads pictures that are attached to tweets via links. It's really fast and smooth for me too.

Yeah, for some reason when you check to have your ringtones synced, it assumes you want all your music synced. Manually transfer the ringtone and you'll be fine.

Echofon is a million times better than the official app :(

I've always used Verizon, so I can't make a comparison to other providers. But, I can say my experience with them has been pretty good. No, you won't be able to surf the web and talk at the same time. But, I rarely experience a dropped call. Everyone I know that uses AT&T has told me dropped calls are common. Also, Speedtest.net did study on which provider had the best bandwidth. AT&T had considerably better bandwidth than Verizon. Streaming videos and information over AT&T's network was better. But, again, it suffered from disconnections. Verizon didn't suffer one disconnection in their study. So, you can choose throughput or stability.

Kinda late on this, but thanks for the response.

I think I'm going with the iPhone 4 (I would wait for the iPhone 5 but I need to get my 3G plan so I can be grandfathered in after Verizon switches to the tiered data plans)

As someone who is not familiar with smartphones, how long will it take for Apple to no longer support the iPhone 4 in updates? It would stink to get one and then the iPhone 5 comes out and Apple yanks support for the iPhone 4.

Also, what is Camera+ exactly? I want a good camera (and the iPhone 4 looks like it has a really great one) but I know this is a supposedly good app although there are people complaining about it crashing. What does it exactly do and is it recommended? It also says it is compatible with the iPod Touch (but I didn't think the iPod Touch had a camera, unless the new ones do...?).

Last question - I know Apple had to make adjustments to the iPhone 4 to work on Verizon's network. Did Apple ever fix the issue where if you held it with your left hand a certain way it disconnected?

Possibly a dumb question, but how do you re-activate a WiFi signal that you previously set to ignore? The WiFi at my gym use to suck ass, and would constantly interrupt asking you to log in, but now I hear they've improved it and want to check it out.

It should show up if you go to WiFi in settings and just tap the network to connect, it remembers it from then on.

Echofon is awesome. It syncs with other Echofons (Firefox, iPad, Mac) so you can maintain your unread position in your stream, you can tap a link/username/hashtag directly from the timeline (why the official client forces you to first tap on a tweet before it linkifies things is beyond my comprehension), push notifications work, it recognizes photo sharing links and creates a tappable thumbnail preview in the timeline, etc. Pretty much superior to the official client in all ways.

Yes, but it's very vanilla in design :) Tweetbot does all of those things except the syncing because there's no desktop client. It has much better design.

Do you guys keep wifi on all the time or switch off after use? I always switch it off but I've noticed that wifi turns off automatically when I don't use the phone for long stretches. Does it overall effect the battery life still?

Just want to know this so I don't continue habits that I developed with my previous nokia smartphone.

So GAF, I'm picking up an Iphone 4 in August, and rumor has it that Verizon's unlimited $30/month data plan will be phased out in early July. If I add the data plan to my current Verizon plan now will I be able to apply to my iphone so I'll always have access to the unlimited plan? Thanks!

So I have an old ass RAZR and want to get the iPhone 5 as soon as it comes out, but I know nothing about the phone industry or the Apple devices industry. Is it like video games where I can go ahead and put my name on a list somewhere to pre-order it? And would I do this at my AT&T store (I want to continue with my same phone number and provider) or the Apple store?

According to the Verizon rep I visited, yes you will as long as you keep on upgrading to and getting smartphones. I am getting one sometime before the deadline because of this. However, I am still skeptical that Verizon will allow this forever. I hope it's at least a couple of years, but I am pessimistic.

Good to know, I think I'll just go through with it even though I won't have an iphone for a few weeks.

I just got my iPhone 4 and everything is great but I don't understand Push notifications. I got boxcar, and it updates me for twitter and fbook, but it always has notification bubbles under boxcar, not twitbird pro or the fbook app like I thought it should.

boxcar can’t send out bubbles to the icons of other apps - only its own icon. its working as intended.

I have a question, maybe someone knows the answer to. I have a Skype account and number, if you use the Skype app on iPhone - or any other phone for that matter, with Android or whatever - is it possible to just use Skype over Wifi like if you're at home and it doesn't use your minutes?
