I'm really REALLY worried. I just bought the console and I have absolutely nothing to play on it. Bought Zelda for Wii U, played lots of MK8 on Wii U, Disgaea 5, I Am Setsuna on PS4 and Puyo Puyo Tetris on Vita.
? All games shown in the nindies showcase were slated for 2017.from the nindies direct, there were some good looking games (and other indies announced outside of that)
They're all fucking TBA, so they dont mean anything when looking at whats coming up until they actually get a date.
I played MK8 on the wii u, not worth buying again.
This is why the switch can never be my main console, and it isn't. I have a pc and the other 2 for this exact reason because being Nintendo only would never work for me.
It's not ok that the release calendar looks as bad as it does, but it's fine to me because ps4 and PC exist

When I look at release calendar next game that I'm interested is Skyrim, which I never have played, is coming out in September. there is Dragonball Xenoverse 2 and Steep but none of those has release dates.
As a person who bought every single console since Dreamcast on their launch week, I can say Switch is having worst first year ever for me. I desperately need some game new announcements. Preferably some non-indie (is there a such term?) stuff, which console is lacking of.

If E3 comes and goes and then TGS comes and goes and you can say the same thing OP, then that's when we should be worried, not 3 weeks after launch in March.
For Switch?
I could see the next Pokémon game being for 3DS, so they keep the job effort in check.
Is this a joke post?Who knows where Nintendo has fucked up this time. "Combining platform efforts" has somehow failed to improve the lineup density of their previous drought machine, while things like Wii and 3DS still had blowouts multiple times bigger. Not to mention that the measly support from Japanese 3rd parties on a handheld system like the Switch is very dubious. I guess they're all feeling comfortable either on PS4 or mobile and Nintendo has once again failed to improve relations.
I guess what's bothering me is that new games are being announced all the time and the NS isn't really part of those announcements. Destiny 2 will be unveiled soon and there I think we can all put our money on there not being a NS version of that game. So it's just another game announced recently that isn't coming to the platform. Just seems strange to wait until E3 for that NS announcement, when games are getting announced every few days for every other platform.

I've certainly enjoyed more e3s than you have, unless you have ridiculous expectations for every e3 showingPretty much. The company has managed 2 or 3 enjoyable E3 showings over the last decade.

Is there a text or spreadsheet version of this anywhere?
I think going in to this thing you may have had the wrong expectations then, if something like Destiny 2 not being announced for Switch disappointed you.
Devs only started with this device at most 12 months ago, and that is only key partners.
E3 is 2.5 months away. That doesn't feel close to me.
So we're gonna spend over 3 months after a systems launch without any announcements because E3 is "close".
That's kind of frustrating. TBH I'm keeping my expectations in check: Mario Kart 8 and Super Mario Odyssey this year. Not gonna expect anymore.

Let's be real here - despite the Switch showing great signs - it's only been three weeks! If you ran a company with outgoings, employees and profit would you make such fast decisions?

You really can't say that for the next CoD and AC, those have been on Nintendo consoles, especially CoD, and they aren't porting those games over not because of power, they literally ported CoD to the wii and was consistently getting a million+ sales, it would be because they couldn't find a audienceI don't mean to be rude, but you honestly should've expected this. Those big, Western AAA games aren't coming to the Switch. That's been obvious for a while, it's just not that powerful. Destiny 2 won't be on Switch. RDR 2 won't be on Switch. The next CoD won't be on Switch. Good chance the next Assassin's Creed will skip Switch. The next Bethesda game will most likely skip Switch. The big AAA games aren't coming. Don't hold your breath. If this thing is a runaway success, we'll get downports that are relatively barebones. The Switch is a Nintendo + indies machine, with a sprinkling of Japanese publishers. If that's not enough then you might want to sell the console. You can probably get at least face value if you sell it now
Heh, only using that as an example. I'm not interested in Destiny 2 unless they add in IR/gyro aiming a la Splatoon 2. But making a point that there have been many game announcements recently so this need to wait until E3 shouldn't be necessary. If new games aren't being announced, then let's talk about the ones that are coming. We can't even do that since even those devs aren't talking about them.
I'm gonna pick up Snake Pass, because I enjoyed their video blogs and they really got behind their game and got me excited. That would be enough for me.
People that want AAA console games on the Switch,
Please take a look at the port of Dragon Quest Heroes I & II to the Switch and imagine all ports of demanding games are of such quality. You won't like it. And that port isn't that bad because of 'lazy developers' or anything like that, but because the Switch simply isn't as powerful as the PS4.

I think what's troubling is a lack of output from Nintendo's studios the last two years of the Wii U, and still be lacking first-party exclusive content the inaugural year of the Switch.
I can see third parties sending their 5 year-old games to the Switch to die, but it seems like Nintendo even got caught off-guard.
I'm done with Zelda, and now I play the "hope" game, dusting my Switch every couple weeks.
This isn't 100% complete, but the Wikipedia list is decent.
They had time when they abandoned Wii U years ago.
Most games that have been announced recently have been in development long before Nintendo even revealed the Switch.

A lot of the games announced recently will already have been worked on for years, and for time before the switch was even announced, so makes sense some of missing it.
Japanese support will start trickling in before the deluge, it wasn't there day 1 for PS4 and it took 6-9 months before solid third party Japanese support began appearing.
erm, you what? Gonna need to see the proof here, pretty much everyone has said it's a rush job port hence the lack of optimization. We all know it's not as powerful as the PS4 but DQ Heroes 1+2 should be running much better on this thing.
5 games? How many first party games did the PS4 and XB1 have in their first 6 or so months?1-2-Switch, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Arms and Splatoon 2 within six months. I wouldn't call that 'lacking first-party exclusive content'. And who knows what follows in the Fall.

I'd say the Switch is pretty unique to launch with one of the best games ever created.Console launches usually don't have many good games. I think the Switch is not an exception in that regard, but I don't think it's much worse than any other console either.
