The Last Blade 2 |OT| Another Wind Blows Through A Heated Age

haha holy shit. With wifi off, it's a crapshoot if you want to quit to the main menu. It keeps throwing you back into the character select screen after the offline save popup screen. I got the game to crash by doing this.

Looks like I (and others) got Code Mystic's attention on Twitter, so they're becoming aware of the problems.

GAF Gets Things Done.

Although it pains me to update an OP on a sour note, I've updated with the glitches(and updated community PSN names).

Also, I know most(if not all) of the cast photos are from LB1, I'll see if I can fix those.

The game hasn't showed up on Vita store yet. Is it included with PS4 bundle or they just forgot to put Vita version on store? The wait is killing me.

You get both the themes and games if you buy the ps4 version. Just go to your download list on the Vita after purchase.

Yeah the game just locked up on me on the burning stage now in story mode. Really disappointed with the port.

The ps4 version is definetly shoddy. The first thing that I notice is some weird ghosting on the frames. It dont feel smooth at all. When pausing the game doing a command (ex. Blocking), you can see the blocking frame and the neutral frame intercalated, so weird.

The vita version is fine, though.

I like how this plays. I'll put some time into it and try to git gut.
Also netcode can be good or awful, nothing in between from my short experience with it.

Tragic to omit the NGCD Arranged traxs :{ but I bought the game as soon as I woke up...

Only to find this thread...

Well get on it Code Mystics! I have faith.

May just be bad connections. It's definitely consistent, good connections stay good and shit connections stay shit. Overall, I'd say it's solid, not amazing but not bad

Does Rekka Lee Zansetsu's stage feel like it has slowdown to you? Sometimes, I think it does. Slowdowns that feel worst than other ports.

Ok downloaded the vita version and not having any issues with that so far. I was planning on playing this version the most anyway so I'm ok with that. The theme for both vita and ps4 is awesome at least.

I haven't ran into any bugs in the Vita version yet either.

Also, fun fact: You can sync two controllers to a PSTV and play local versus. That's pretty handy, considering the shape that the PS4 version is in. I also don't need PS+ to play it online.

Game on Vita looks great with scanlines and the normal screen size. (not the default one)
The sound design is so great here, did Last Blade 1 also have only ambient sounds for the levels? I wonder if that was inspired by Bushido Blade 1, which came out earlier in 1997.

How does this game use cross-save?

The 'Story mode' sucks. Not sure if the translation is just crap, but the dialogue is bad.

Haven't experienced any issues yet in the Vita version, but the sudden pause as the game unlocks content is terrible.

Yes the first Last Blade also has ambient stages.

As for the dialog, welcome to the world of SNK games. Their translations are "legendary".

The translation is garbage. I wish I could revise it. It deserves a proper localization, but I can't even fathom how NeoGeo projects would go.

I have the Dreamcast version, by the way, so I really only wanted this for a proper translation. And since they couldn't even manage that...

Had a few crashes on the PS4, but the Vita version plays great. Also really like the way it looks on here as well.

So far enjoying the game. Gonna have to look at tutorials to understand the mechanics better, though. I imagine high leveled play looking pretty sick.

I've seen high level JP matches on GGPO. Poetry in motion, like watching a real samurai duel unfold.

I may still get the Vita version, but my hype has taken a serious blow.

Finally able to play this tonight. I haven't noticed any glitches on the PS4 version (didn't play much). Playing this on the Vita is great. The game looks simply beautiful on default setting.

So...minor disappointments aside, this is still very much worth getting, yes?

Vita version, yes. PS4 have game-breaking bugs (reported, I didn't found one in my brief time with the game).

My issues with this port:

- No Neo Geo boot screen (minor)
- No second opening (unexcusable) (EDIT: It seems that it appears after a game over in arcade mode. )
- No "How to play", even with a dipswitch like Metal Slug 3 (bad)
- No Title Screen (bad)
- Attract mode on boot ends abruptly into the new overlay.
- The gameplay pauses when displaying the "unlocked content" screen
- Sometimes the "unlocked content" screen stays until the end of the match
- Graphic glitches (like the burning haze).

And some PS4-only issues like the frame ghosting. (EDIT: looks like it is present on the vita version as well)

All of them could be fixed with a patch.

Has an AES cart owner i was getting this for the support alone. But in that state i will hold for a patch.

I've seen frame-ghosting on the Vita version, too.

My impressions so far are that the Vita version plays better online than the PS4 version does, which is kind of weird. In matches with higher ping, it tended to go smoother on Vita. PS4 online was a mess at anything over 100. With people under 50, it was extremely playable. But online as it is also bare bones (no ranked or anything like that) and I expect this die even faster than the KOF UM games did on Steam and SNK XBLA ports before those. :(

I downloaded it from the U.S. store last night. Confusing.

Okay, so, on the gameplay front it's the unlocking content annoyance and mostly just the frame ghosting thing.

Does the frame ghosting make the game near-unplayable or is that a minor thing as well?

I'm assuming the flame effect is missing from the Vita version as well?

Does "Mask Mode" work for anyone in local versus? I try to change any of the options, and elements on the screen weirdly blink but not options change.

Edit: Nevermind, I was just really confused about how the game is set up to let you use those options (you have to go through a different menu).

I've already got the PS2 and Dreamcast versions of this, so I was just curious if this new version is the definitive one? Aside from the missing fire effects on Wadamoya, does this game have Musashi playable?

No. That guy is forever on the Dreamcast. Also, the wayamoya stage freezes randomly at the moment. Wait for patch.

It had to be a HUGE oversight to allow players to pick the final boss in online matches.
