and if the pro had been pushed to 2017 it would still run like shit on OG PS4.a game with tons of years in the making, a game that SONY sent their ninja's to help a game that has no right to run like this when they are way better looking games on the console that run better too, THIS of all games my friend is the game that should have not been allowed to be shipped running like that after all this years, all the history behind it and all the extra help and backing it got from SONY.
their engine might not support checkerboarding - cerny did say devs would have to implement it themselves so it may just be too much work to justify it for them.
they should probably drop the res a bit though.

i think skyrim still has issues with heavy alpha effects due to memory bandwidth
Well, the only remaining game that runs worse is Skyrim but it's targeting native 4K so it's hardly a big deal.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is better on Pro, of course, but they still need to go back and fix the frame pacing bug.
If we were going to nitpick, I could say Ratchet and Clank since there are now scenes on Pro which do run worse but they are extremely uncommon and relegated to just a couple spots. It's otherwise very very smooth.
At this point, the Pro is in good shape.
They dont care man. They just want your money. Honestly i expect a patch but who knows when its coming. You all begged for it now here it is.A game with tons of years in the making, a game that SONY sent their ninjas to help, a game that has no right to run like this when they are way better looking games on the console that run better too, THIS of all games my friend is the game that should have not been allowed to be shipped running like that after all these years, after all the history behind it and all the extra help and backing it got from SONY.
I agree with you, it does seem overly ambitious.still insane to go with 1900p, which is actually higher than what Sony recommanded 3200x1800. If the performance isnt there then why go so far, even a 2560x1440 locked 30 fps would have been a lot better.
yeah, but that's SE's fault and it's poor framepacing rather than framerate drops so it should be fixable as it's not present on the xbox one version.I mean, doesn't FFXV also have issues on the regular PS4? I know two games does not a strong case make, but it's still more than one.
This is the truth. Just because the pro is out some PS4 owners feel they're getting shafted because of this? Lol no. It would've been the exact same performance if the pro never existed.Thing is that if the Pro didn't exist the likes of you and me would probably have gotten this exact same game with the exact same performance on the PS4.
It just sucks that we now have a better option so we feel like we're getting shafted.
This will definitely push me to get a pro.

ICO runs fine. It's a locked 30fps at all times. It was running at 60fps during development too but they chose 30fps with blur. This is not a surprise. Even the original games ran like utter crap. Everything about this game looks dated except the actual gameplay and AI which is unique. Just look at the camera and movement. It looks straight out of a game that came 15 years ago. This is what happens when you try to make a game without considering the technical constraints. It's no wonder it took so long to make it. They probably couldn't get it to run and they still can't.
So just about everything out there is anti-consumer then?
Every new smart phone, new car, new TV, new graphics card? We should stick with old technology?
I don't understand the logic there.

Maybe it's over-generalizing, but it seems like when a dev includes supersampling and performance suffers, the pitchforks come out and players demand native 1080p.
When 1080p is the only option, the pitchforks come out and players demand supersampling, even if it would mean degraded performance.
I get it... it's about choice, but it's almost like even if you had both choices, some of you wouldn't be happy. Not for this game, anyway.

Thankfully, most of those are now fixed. There are very few games left that actually run worse!
Why the fuck is supersampling not available on 1080p TVs?
4K mode still gives better performance than base PS4. I'll probably be playing this at 4K mode, can't sacrifice visual quality for a 2, 3 frame rate boost.
At least it's good we're seeing a clear distinction between base and Pro versions now.
Sony seems to have definitely dropped the ball on having developers standardizing graphical options.
So, where is the outrage in multiple threads regarding the drop to 20fps in this game when there was an outrage of epic proportion for just some framepacing issues in FFXV?

Fuck me for owning an OG PS4 right?
Wow, Sony fucked up big time releasing this in such a technical state.
It's almost as if they're forcing you to purchase a Pro to enjoy the game :/
Its not just some issue, the game is a stutter fest for the most part on base PS4. Unless you play the game in lite mode on a Pro.
I played FFXV on HQ Pro mode for over 40 hours and the framepacing issues never bothered me one tiny bit.![]()
Some people have different eyes! It bothers some, doesn't bother others. Still though, its an easy fix from what I read. Many game devs have fixed this issue in their games pretty fast. So the longer SE goes without a fix speaks volumes.
The original game on PS2.Are you referring to the original PS2 release or the remaster on PS3?
Ah, right, if you're using a 1080p screen it's an issue. If you're referring to TLOU, its Pro version also now looks worse on 1080p displays than before, thanks to supersampling being dropped altogether for a higher framerate. Even from the 30fps mode. That's not a "fix" I wished for.
+ Fuck me for owning a 1080p TV, and using it for Pro.
As I understood it, there is. You just have set your Pro settings to a forced 4K output. There is no option to switch in the game itself, like in FFXV or Tomb Raider.
One workaround to this...You've misunderstood it a little. If you have your Pro hooked up to a 1080p TV, Pro will not let you set your video output to a forced 4K output. Only 1080p is available, the rest are greyed out.
