Does everyone seriously not remember them driving platformers into the ground with not one but two separate trilogies? Guys, crash bandicoot and jax were WAY different.
This is one of the strangest claims I've read on GAF.
Does everyone seriously not remember them driving platformers into the ground with not one but two separate trilogies? Guys, crash bandicoot and jax were WAY different.
what? how did they drive platformers into the ground? they made three crash games in the heyday of the 3d platformer, one buddy-platformer in jak and daxter when that was the popular thing to do, and then went into sandbox territory with the following jak games (while sandbox games were popular). they weren't late to either one of those parties.
I don't know why the sound gets louder. Do you have a sample of the bullet ant sound that the article speculated about? The scream could be an infected human. I don't see why they wouldn't make a different sound now that their heads are exploded.
The most compelling argument against ant monsters, for me, is still the scientific one. If the main conceit of the plot is that fungi infected humans and made them into crazies, what is the explanation for monster ants? There's no fungus in nature that takes over a creature and mutates it into a monster. The cordyceps footage is a metaphor and a justification for the zombie plot, nothing more.
As for the 'camera in the hand' effect, if it is used, I'd suspect ND is smart enough to have an option to disable it entirely for those worried about motion sickness problems / disorientation.
Pretty sure K&L2 had a steady cam option you could enable if you didn't want the shake. You could also turn off the graininess.
I think it'll have a lot less to do with "shaky cam" and more to do with "several lengthy single-shot sequences in which extremely complex actions take place", as stated in the description somebody posted. That kind of cinematography really immerses you in the scene and instills tension in an amazing way. But based on the debut trailer, there didn't appear to be any of this sort of this type of camera handling anywhere. :-/
Any updates arne?
Sounds good thank you.Are you referring to the linearity/exploration thing? I was just listening to my interview with Neil and Bruce and when asked about that Bruce explained you will be getting options about how to tackle a given situation but it's not gonna be an open world game.
They are basically expanding on what they did with Uncharted 2 in those situations were you could either shoot anything that moves or go stealth about it.
Personally I've got the impression that the extent of exploration freedom we will get will be instrumental to offering multiple options about how to tackle a given situation, with stealth playing an important part.
Sounds like a good scene, hopefully it makes it in.They're show a scene in which Joel is teaching Ellie how to shoot a gun (but the Dogs said that they're not sure if the scene will appear in the final version of the game or not).

Every video game is full of extended single shot sequences. Hand held camera does not at all imply extended single-shot sequences, so where are you getting that? Is it because the article gave the example of Children of Men? That has both handheld camera and extended single shots. I have to assume they were referring to it for the handheld aspect.
I'm particularly to referring to sequences like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiyA70jAL14
Less about Jason Bourne-type shaky hand cam, more about staying locking within the scene the entire time without a single cut.
And I'm not sure what you mean by "every video game is full of extended single shot sequences." I don't think I've ever seen a sequence like the one shown above from Children of Men in any video game.
Are you talking about in a cinematic? Gameplay in a 3D video game is often a series of very long continuous shots.
The article said "handheld camera" and that's all. Children of Men is a confusing example because what people remember most about the cinematography in that movie is the long takes, but the author was likely offering it as an example of handheld camerawork, if the translation of "camera in hand" is accurate.
Arne, please tell us what was meant by "camera in hand"!
Staying locked with one single camera and not cutting between different views gives a strong sense of presens as that youtube clip shows. Shaky cam adds realism and documentary feel. They may be going for both.
Uh oh, the white board says monster behavior and fungus behavior. And mentions gestation. Maybe there will be full-on ant monsters after all.
Here is another Move-related snippet from my interview with the Gods.
Watch the clip at the end if not interested in Naughty Dog opinion on the Move. Plenty to discuss about I guess.
Enjoy!
I wonder what planting means.....
Not necessarily. There won't be crazy big monsters with tentacles and stuff, devs said to me.
I think "monsters" just refers to the infected.
The most interesting bit to me is the last one: "Planting > gestating"

Is that a sun in the picture?
Oh ok I though monsters will get stronger in daylight or somethingDon't think so. It's probably related to light behavior on objects. I read a reference to subsurface scattering below that.
what does it say under planting?

If they went the "spores that become little sporeheads thingies" route, I'm gonna cry.
Please let that be just their spore dispersion for infection. Please.

Ugh, Facebook.
Is the theme any good?
If Druckmann's the creative director, what's Hennig up to?Secret ND team 2!
You mean regular ND team 1?
Probably Uncharted 4 or maybe even a new IP.
The Last of Us = Team 2But isn't the full ND team now devoted to TLoU? Secret ND team 2 is a possibility!
Naughty Dog has 2 teams now. Team 1 worked on Uncharted 3 and Team 2 is working on The Last of Us.But isn't the full ND team now devoted to TLoU? Secret ND team 2 is a possibility!
Um.... where?
Not working for me
I fixed the link in my original post. http://www.facebook.com/PlayStation?sk=app_115360931912624 or i think i did. If it doesnt work just search Playstations page on FB and it should be on there.
Code is universal
so here;

I'm not gonna "like" a videogame on facebook.
Please stop doing this shit.
Gaming and IRL do not mix... don't cross the streams!
ND moving on to make a zombie movie sounds like a bad joke. It's as if they don't understand that they are always on the bandwagon too late, just to be sure it gets driven into the ground.
