The Last of Us Remaster is 50GB

should be down in about 30 - 45 mins for me no big deal at all.

Space is the issue here.....

Also size makes sense

full game + multiplayer + DLC plus new resolution + videos

Physically or digitally?

Hard To Get - Sharyn Maceren -lyrics remastered:

My friends think I can have anyone I want—
But it's not true...
I must admit that I thought just the same
'Til I met you...

You have been a challenge in every way
That's what— I like
And I will live each dying day
Until Remastered's mine

Everyone wants this
But you never let it show
You've got me wonderin'
But boy, I think I should know
Do you want me? (... Yeah)

You're so HARD TO GET
You are the only one I can't forget
You've got me wonderin' since the day
We met
You're so HARD TO GET
You're so HARD TO GET
You are the only one I can't forget
You've kept me guessin' since the day
We met
You're so HARD TO GET

We all know love's a game so
All you guys
You can't forget
There is only one game I like to play
Last of Us, is HARD TO GET

The only guy I find so hard to beat
My love, it's you...
'Cause desire was a foreign word to me
I never knew
The only thing that I knew
Was everyone wanted this
60 is a target
But with you, I always miss
Do you want me?

To all those bitching about the size....

DEAL WITH IT

I'm sorry either buy a disc copy or just accept it that game sizes are big. Welcome to 2014, it's not 2004 anymore....

Haha nice stealth edit

Haha damn you for noticing! I watched Happy Gilmore on there yesterday, but they really do air those two way too often for a "family" channel. I'm not complaining though.

To remain on topic, this will be my first TLOU experience. I never got to experience it on PS3, but am fully aware that it's a must play title. Would you guys recommend renting or buying?

At least you wont have to change the disc each time.

Buying it on disc doesn't eliminate the size problem. The issue most people have is time to download if going digital.

won't be there for this game (i think), but thank god pre-load feature is coming soon.

also, blu-rays can go higher in capacity right?

I hope Hard drives become cheaper.. Because space is gonna be a issue this gen.. Plus I am gonna need to learn how to install one on a PS4/transfer memory.

what is the transfer speed of the bluray drive in the PS4? Just wondering what internet speed you'd need to be able to download it faster than installing from disc?

God damn. The fact that physical copies also take up a shit ton of spaces, makes me worried I will have to start deleting games
soon to play others... I mean wtf, why does Call of Duty Ghosts on my ps4 take up 32(?)gb? Why do any of the games I own physical take up over 20gb? Whats the point of the disc?

I mean it sucks, I fear like I will have either delete games soon or get a bigger HDD, sucks that I need to delete disc based games I own... Just so I can play other disc based games...

What I want to know is why on both PS3 AND PS4 I only get 8mbps download when I have a bloody 50mbps connection (doesn't matter if I'm ethernet'd or wifi'd). Is the handshake with the PSN truly that crappy?

256GB SSD 840 PRO. No regrets.

Most installs take like 2 minutes (tops) for me.

That's the initial install which is just enough to get you into the game and start playing.

The rest installs in the background.

It's impossible to install a full retail game that quickly with the speeds the Blu-ray drive is capable of.

What? I thought bits only get copied over to hard drive when they are accessed?

On both PS4 and XB1, the entire disc installs to the HDD and you only put the disc in for verification.

It's actually like this:

“So, what we do as the game accesses the Blu-ray disc, is we take any data that was accessed and we put it on the hard drive. And if then if there is idle time, we go ahead and copy the remaining data to the hard drive. And what that means is after an hour or two, the game is on the hard drive, and you have access, you have dramatically quicker loading… And you have the ability to do some truly high-speed streaming.”

Could've been less than half of that if they ditched the FMVs for real time cutscenes... it's a shame those still exist, especially in a games with unlockable costumes

So what I said then?

Click "Options" on any disc-installed game on your PS4 and check the file size. It's huge.

The entire disc installs.

No game installs from disc over a couple of hours, it does it all at the start. Nor will you ever hear the disc being accessed past the first couple of minutes. Perhaps that method was intended, but it hasn't come to pass.

PS4 uses dual layer BD right? So it should be able to fit on a disc with compression. I hope anyways, nearing my data limit and it won't reset until August 8th or something.
