Yes, however Tenzin was the only airbender apparantly. Which makes it seem like there are four airbenders living right now.

It should, one dynamic of being the Avatar is talking to all the old Avatars. Aang should be able to show up sometime this season, maybe in the latter half when stuff happens.

I had the feeling that Tenzin wished for his father to still be alive since he didn't quite know how to handle the situation now that he's gone. But it will be interesting to see how this develops, the problems in Republic City seem to run quite deep.

I loved the original. Found out about it a while ago, then I was bedridden for like 3-4days and just watched the whole show right away Sure it "steals" from anime but whatevs.

Now do I wait until I can get the whole season/series or watch the eps one by one as they come out....

I don't think he'll be directly able to talk to Aang, but Korra should be able to tell Tenzin what Aang said to her.

They are canon, yes. Not much happens in the first one, but I enjoyed it. Way too expensive - for what I paid it should have been 120 pages longer.
