OK I beat 4x4, but now I can't beat "Clear All."

The stage objective says to delete All Blocks within the time limit. ???

The graphic it wants me to build (or destroy?!?) looks like this:

You're right. It couldn't read the saved file. I guess I'll have to get to Lights the old fashioned way.. :/ I love the game but really suck at it right now. I'm hoping it 'clicks' with me soon.

That's what you've got to do though. Being able to clear a screen, especially when it starts off clear and you're just polluting it, is one of the more important skills you can have in Lumines.
 
So many months later and I still suck at this game. I've almost broken 100k finally, but I really hate having to play through dark side beside the river again and again. I really dislike that song. :P

Whoo!!! Probably could've hit 150k, but I got a piece dropping get stuck on a tower of blocks i'd built all the way up to the top. :( My end was inevitable, but I was still kind of hoping I could just grab one more skin before losing.

The set of songs after Dark Side Beside the River are MUCH better.
 
40,513 now.

I don't understand how some of you can get such high scores. I consider it a miracle to get past 30k and a fluke to get past 35k. I guess I am getting better at it.

By a freaking miracle I hit 54,744. Although I am definately getting much better at it. I can get all the way to 'Just' without much problems. 'Just' wasn't even too bad, its a little weird going over to the round dots instead of blocks, and the colors are so close to my eyes that I tend to make a few more mistakes.

What really threw me off was the switch up to 'I Hear the Music in My Soul', which being my first time to that skin, I was really caught off guard by how freaking slow the clear line moves in that track. The screen filled up extremely quickly as I was used to planning on the lines being cleared much earlier. It was completely pure luck that a bonus block that I had mis placed got hit by a stack that dropped and seriously cleared out almost half of my screen.


Good god this game rocks.
 
Not sure if there are levels like this in challenge, but I really dislike the 3rd skin in Computer VS mode.... Where there are solid and blank blocks that fall and make it difficult to distinguish on the background sometimes....

Been playing this game for a few days though.. Best I can do is about 57k on challenge
 
I'm keeping an eye on this. Once people start getting close to my score, I'll start dedicating more time to Lumines. It's on.

edit: Though JC is coming awfully close.

Heh finally beat the first 4 in VS. mode and up to Sister Walk in challenge mode. New high of 71161 as well.

I still have no clue how to pass the first puzzle though lol. If anyone can post up a pic or something of a half completed one i'm hoping it'll dawn on me. Also what's the point of time attack? It says you can unlock more stuff but damn how fast do you have to be? My best in the 60 sec one was 37 and i haven't been close since (avg. around 30). Oh and one last question on time based stuff, i have rodent. I'm assuming somewhere there's a timer that just takes your total time played on your saved game or something right?
 
I've moved up from 10k average to 40k average, woo. It's pretty easy to roll down an average 40k once you get a knack for putting the blocks together well enough and simply survive yourself there. :p I can't get past that though, atm, but I am satasfied with my progress for today.
 
finally got to put some more time into this at the weekend and got 105012

one thing i've noticed tho is that sometimes i seem to get an extra message appear before it returns me to the single player mode selection screen and my high score isnt saved if i press circle to get passed the message - can anyone explain what that is about? i think it only happens if i have put the PSP in standby mid-game but im not sure... i have a japanese version and can understand little asside from yes/no questions :P

ok, that makes sense - so should i be saying yes or no to that? circle or cross?

edit - what i mean by that is, if i reload my scores does it over-write the score i just got in the game i continued playing after suspending?

Oh and i'm curious, do single skin modes go on your top 10? Never actually played a single skin game long enough to make my list since i've got a zillion things left to unlock.

By blocks deleted. You delete blocks to advance "levels" and the skin changes every 4 levels or so.
 
Some of the people with these craziy scores need to post their save games up. I don't think I am ever going to get more then like 6 or 7 skins.
 
New score: 292,272 points

Argh. The last skin I was on screwed me over...speed got faster and I started to make stupid mistakes. Oh well...next time I'll be prepared.

Sp33d, give me a few minutes and I'll upload my save. I got a lot of skins unlocked via challenge mode, haven't done much for the other modes though


Also, looks like my new score puts me in #11. Which means I've already beaten a lot of GAF importers who've had this game for MONTHS, while I've only had it since Thursday. Ah feels great :P
 
Hey Buddy, I still can't beat Clear All. Any suggestions? I routinely score 100k in Challenge mode now, I can easily clear out a big mess and even get routine Single Color Bonuses, but I can never get it so that I can clear everything with one square. There's got to be one distinct pattern to beat this in Puzzle Mode, because the block order is the same everytime and they give you a bomb block grey and later a bomb block orange.

I didn't go through all that many blocks to finish the puzzle... maybe a dozen? Definitely didn't get to any special blocks.
 
I can't wait to someday be l33t enough to unlock "Lights." Given the huge rush when the song blows up from simple piano to full-tilt house mayhem, hitting that point in the game after a long run has just GOT to be awesome. </SWOON>

I hope it's not, god knows I'm not gonna play to the six nines again. Wasn't it a little... disheartening? It left me empty. And exhausted, yeah. Not unlike Katamari's (if you've played it to the end), in the realisation that the game is fundamentally flawed, yet undeniably successful. Without the catarsis, though.

Also, my octopus totally OWNS your smiling bunny!

If you throw a bomb piece into the equation and clear half the screen at the exact time the song blows up, you really need a spare pair of pants.

Right, looks like I have some work to do with updating the score table.
 
Just wondering, somebody said that Lumines might have 50 skins, but nobody knows how to unlock them. Could getting high scores in single skin mode on certain skins possibly unlock them? Just a theory, though I'm sure people have tried assuming the 50 skins estimation is correct.

It's amazing how all of a sudden the game starts to click and the scores just start to ramp up fast. Just yesterday I could barely crack 25k and now I'm getting up in the 50k range. I need to play more though, my wife keeps stealing the game away from me. :lol
 
Well, I'm now able to consistantly score in the 60 - 70k range. I would have been able to keep going for a while on one game, as I dropped a special block in place that would have cleared nearly 2/3's of the screen, but another block dropped while I was waiting for the scanner. So pissed....

Anyway, I'd also like to mention how much I fucking hate "Just..."
