The Mahvel Civil War bait title thread

Iron Man was right but they made him evil because Cap can't be wrong, and because forcing superheroes to register would change the status quo too much. You don't just get to prance around and be above the law because you made a ray gun in your garage or whatever.

I was not the spoil-sport that "fixed" this title, just FYI. Don't blame me. I love bait-and-switch thread titles.

Well duh, you would have added an endorsement if it was you changing it.

It was funny in Captain America 2 when Project Insight created an entire database of possible metahumans in like 5 minutes.

lol Registration Act.

i didn't really get this. SHIELD has a ton of intel, but it's not like they're fucking omnipotent. The fuck would they be after Strange for? He's a surgeon.

They uploaded it in minutes, shield was monitoring them for decades.
Yeah that's a better way of putting it.

Maybe he was one of the most talented surgeons? :P

That's the point though. Some of the people PI targeted aren't even suspects.

The irony of the "shooting Hulk into space" thing is that if Tony had just asked Banner to leave the planet, Banner would have done it in a heartbeat. It's not like he had a lot holding him there at the time and he'd literally just spent around three months trying to kill himself.

And then, even if Planet Hulk had still happened, he wouldn't have blamed the Illuminati for it and World War Hulk wouldn't have happened.

Yerp. Or they coulda just asked Victor to fix the problem, which he did by giving hulk and banner exactly what they thought they wanted (also adding gamma neurosurgeon to the list of victor skils, but hey, he already was a transdimensional ob gyn). Woulda worked even better if hulk didn't go all "my precious" and ninja'd Banner.

The fuck were you thinking Marvel/Millar?

your answer right there

they didnt make him evil. civil war isnt the first suspect thing tonys done.

It was pretty terrible. The only good thing that came out of it was the parody. I did enjoy Namor pointing out they were all idiots (in WWH too) but then Marvel swept him up in the next round of stupid with AvX. Oh well.

Can't really recall a big cross over event I've enjoyed since Age of Apoc.

Actually, that plan was Doomed from the start. (I slay me)

Back in the 80s, Hulk and Banner also got split, but by Doc Samson and that really didn't work out. Hulk went all mindless beast, tearing up the countryside, and Banner went nuts. Not mad scientist nuts, more Captain Ahab, but still, pretty crazy.

I'm 100% for mods cracking down and making people use the actual MCU thread for things that aren't news. Or at least making a Stump-sponsored thread for comic book arguments/debates.

The dumbest part of it all was that Bishop was pro-registration. You know, Bishop; the guy who came from a future where mutant registration devolved into concentration camps and mutant genocide.

It seemed like a good idea at first, but as it went on it was pretty clear they had no idea how to end it.

Unmasking Spider-Man was the dumbest thing possible, and they had to go even dumber (dumbception) to fix it.

It had amazing potential; but fizzled out by the end. And the only tie-in's I actually enjoyed were the Fantastic Four ones.

That said; it's still far better than the pile of filth that is Secret Invasion that followed. Only positive of that was Dark Reign came out of it.

i admit civil war got me out of my "japanese manga" only phase.

but only cause of the drama it was causing.

also the whole rainbow ring event of dc.

Well shortly after that Bishop went crazy and tried to kill a baby. So that might have been the first sign.

I don't know what happened and at what point this all happened but I just don't understand Marvel Comics these days.
I used to read Marvel comics back in the 90's and love them, it's what got me into comics. I thought Age of Apocalypse was the coolest thing ever.
But upon going back into comics I can only read DC Comics these days because the continuation makes more sense to me, I don't get why it seems like Marvel comics series keep going back to number 1 and just trying to figure things out seems crazy.

the one good thing we got out of pete unmasking is that we got dark spider man. making teenage girls contemplate life choices, and crime barons shit themselves in front of criminals

That's funny because only one of those companies have any sort of continuation from the 90s and it ain't DC.

Every single one of the X-Men (except Cable and Bishop) being neutral was pretty dumb too, considering the entire super hero registration plot was a rehash of the mutant registration plot in the 80s. You'd think they would have something to say about that.

Or was a surgeon. For all we know he already is the Sorcerer Supreme. After all he operates on planes that are unknown to most people... and recent rumblings suggested that Marvel is not interested in origin stories right now.

Millar is extreme as fuck. You already know this brother.

Extreme what? A extreme dingus is more like it.

Stupid moron is just obsessed with shock value bullshit.

He should stick with a company that deserves him, like Dynamite or Image or something.

Whats wrong with this?

UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH I HAD SOME OF THESE.

Peter said like, bling or something and I think the page itself cringed.

I kinda enjoyed Emma telling them to all fuck off, though, since they'd all been pretty unhelpful during the shit the X-Men had gone through.

Can't believe Doctor Doom hasn't taken any of the nine million times the Avengers have been too busy fighting someone else to conquer the world yet.
