The band name Colosseum is a bold statement, and that part alone fulfills any obligation to live up to it. Not that they haven't had numerous high points on all 3 albums.

Def agreed on Oranssi Pazuzu, have really dug each of their albums so far. Besides that, some of the bigger names (for me, anyhow) like Wormed, Defeated Sanity EP, Gorguts EP, Disgorge. Maybe Mithras if that album ever comes out. Anyway, besides just those, here's a couple coming out I think have the potential to be really killer.

Sorry if this has already been addressed, but is there any way to purchase the full (14 track) version of Dystopia? Can't stand this split release garbage, makes me not want to get the thing at all. Would love to avoid iTunes if possible, and the other two tracks are Spotify-only and Japan-import only? Sigh.

It could happen of course, it's all too common these days. Maybe they'll do what Anthrax and Carcass did and release an EP after it instead of packaging it into an album re-release (though Nuclear Blast did this too with Carcass, but after the EP). I haven't bought Dystopia, don't know if I will. Will have to hear it first, Megadeth have long since been off of my "List Of Bands I Would Blind Buy The New Album".

Irkallian Oracle will be amazing. Khthoniik Cerviiks is technically an 2015 album, no? It's streaming now. Killer album, blasted it at work after my department cleared out.
I'm looking forward to the new Bölzer, Death Fortress, Skáphe, Ritual Chamber, Altar of Perversion, Nexul, Abhomine, Kerasphorus, Nyogthaeblisz... this will be a year-long party for black/death heads.
special shout out to Ritual Chamber, a band I'm proud represents the bay area. Check out their demo if you haven't already. Old school and fucking morbid death metal.
there's a lot of great reissues in the works as well, a few of my most anticipated being an LP release of Rhinocervs' RH-07 and a CD/LP reissue of the first Volahn full-length.

TIL: Having a famous metal artist endorse your band via social media apparently does jackshit.
(Alissa White-Gluz, who, if we are honest is as close to a metal celebrity as it gets, recommended a song from a local Montreal band via her Twitter and Facebook several hours ago. Afaik it has not influenced the views of that video so far. She has 50k followers on Twitter. Here is the link for anyone interested. Sounds like a slightly more melodic version of her former band The Agonist)

The singer of Arch Enemy? The very good looking one with the blue hair? Ringing no bells? Maybe I'm a bit biased with my Melodeath centric view but I assumed within the metal scene that name is similary well known as Marco Hietala (bassist and backing singer at Nightwish) or Anders Friden (singer of In Flames). Plus she kind of has that celebrity attitude (I'm not commenting if I think that's good). Of course she's not a Ozzy or a James Hetfield, but those names are even well known to the general public.

Then again I straight up don't listen to anything outside power metal outside of 3 bands or so. So I probably don't have much room to say anything.

That's great that you are into them but Arch Enemy have been boring as all fuck for a while now. I just youtubed some of their new stuff with the new singer, which I had not heard before, and it was pretty bad. Not necessarily because of her but everything about them is bland as hell and feels phoned in. Granted, it must be hard to keep things fresh when you have been making the same album for 20+ years or however long they have been around.
Also, old DT is awesome and The Gallery is an amazing album.
On another note, Cobalt has a new song on their bandcamp. Not sure I'm feeling the new singer.

KC, possibly 2015? Hmm, I dunno. That's what M-A says but I'm not sure where that date's from. All the reviews/promo material has it pegged as Feb 2016 release, they were still premiering songs in Jan. Even Iron Bonehead has it as 2016. Well whatever, I'm counting it, now I just gotta check it out. Betting on yet another winner from IB.
Ah yeah I forgot Kerasphorus were back together. And Abhomine is Helmkamp too right? Should be interesting.
Another thing I forgot coming out is the Altarage full length, they dropped a killer demo last year.
I only know of her as the singer of that awful band the Agonist. Not even sure if she was the only one.

yeah the KC officially came out early December on CD by Necroshrine, who are essentially the CD counterpart to Iron Bonehead. But yeah, no point in worrying about when exactly, it will get the attention it deserves this year. Right on about Altarage as well.
yeah Kerasphorus should have some new material out soon as they are set to play Hells Headbash III with Angelcorpse and Revenge among others. Abhomine's debut will come out late April.

Looks like her post did some work on that song. When I looked earlier in the day it was at 3500 and now it's over 4,000. That's not a ton, but considering the post in question (on Facebook) got 500 something likes and only 24 shares you're really not going to see a ton with that.
Her page looks big, but there's a few factors in this. Facebook severely penalizes YouTube links. Facebook wants to push YouTube out of their ecosystem and so...yeah. It gets penalized in the algorithm. That's not only because they want people to use Facebook more for that, but because facebook's own videos have more functionality than a youtube link. They can auto play, which means more clicks and more likes and more people seeing it. The other thing is that it takes a lot of investment for someone to click a link, leave Facebook, listen to it, decide they like it enough to go back and then like the post. That means it's even harder to get the snowball effect that Facebook relies on for their algorithm to push the post.
And twitter... well, twitter posts last all of like 5 seconds so if she published it at a shit part of the day and didn't say anything else, poof, it's gone.
Sorry, I do social media marketing partially for a living so I saw a bit of a case study here and then kind of nerded out on it. Wish I had more time to type more about it, though.
I've been going the last three years and I would've gone if I were able to get the time off from work. Damnit, I just realised Chrch have been added to the lineup as well.
Upon listening for the 20th time maybe i'm moving Borknagar's Winter Thrice to masterpiece level on my scale. It's a really cohesive mix between the brutal and melodic/folk, Vintersorg is at absolutely his best on vocals, both his harshs and clean vocals are amazing. Can't get enough of The rhymes of the mountain, When chaos calls and Erodent.

I'm pretty enthusiastic about USBM generally speaking but I never put much time into Cobalt. Something about their style always seemed weird or difficult to me. I'll probably give Eater of Birds and Gin full listens leading up to their new one.

Gin is definitely their best. It's really dynamic and just has a great, unique sound. I've always been a big fan of the vocals and lyrics on that album too. Very intense. Too bad the old singer was kind of a piece of shit and had to be kicked out of the band.

Aeons in Sodom from Urgehal hits all my sweet spots. Never heard of this band before but I'm trying to follow new releases a bit closer and ran across them. There's guest singers all over due to the death of the main guy several years ago. Apparently this was his last effort before he passed but it wasn't finished until now. I'm going to check out their older stuff soon too.
