The Metal Thread |OT2| All Riffs, No Gifs

I have been highlighting some Thrash Bands under my "Underground Gem of The Day" on my Thrash Page the past month, since most people shy away from checking them out on my page even on good days, it was a neat way for me to continue my "Thrash Album of The Day" while getting the community involved in many revered underground and obscure Albums, Demos, and Compilations from bands. I figured I share what I can link here with you Maniacs.

Cruor - Insane Harmony
Genetic Error - In Search of Power
Wicked - No man's land
Sedition - 1990 Demo
Decision D - Moratoria
Dissenter - Wings of a Demon
Brain Implosion - Sandgrains
Damien (Highlighted the Comp. "Memorandum") - Onslaught without Mercy
Deranged - Place of Torment
Consecrator - Image Of Deception(Compilation)
Ruthless Horde - Ruthless Horde
Crucible - A Dying Breed
Abacinate - Out Of The System
Myramainz - Demo 1988

I will go to Vienna on Kreator/Arch Enemy/Sodom/Vader concert on 10th December. My supervisor decided that i need some vacation so I will be home that week :)

Anyone who likes the new Einherjer album as much as I do?

Though I'm still looking for a band that can take the place of the magnificent Mithotyn.

The Fucking Key.

speaking of which. It's being re-issued on LP this year! The Science of Horror is also one of the best demos to come from the American underground. Sound is rough obviously but the material is tops. And that, too, is seeing a vinyl release in the months to come IIRC.

Damn you guys weren't kidding, great album.

Keyboards in death metal had me skeptical but it really complements their sound.

The new Kenn Nardi album is out, I don't have it yet, but I'm listening to it on Bandcamp. So far, so good! Fragile... I plan on buying some other stuff from Divebomb soon too, so I'm going to wait until they get released before I nab this album.

In more disappointing news, the new album, For Those Which Are Asleep, from The Skull (former Trouble dudes) so far has failed to impress me. It's not bad, but it's not what I was expecting when they formed the band and seemed to want to put out music more reminiscent of earlier Trouble. The Door

I'm not big on prog that much (at least that's what I call this), but I like this Kenn Nardi album. I haven't listened all the way through but what I've heard sounds solid.

Sick. Massacra is awesome. Super underrated band. Is that a recent reissue? I may have to pick some up.

yes sir, the first three albums and all early demos have been reissued on LP and CD. CD versions have extra live/rehearsal material, and put to shame the reissues that came before them. Very well done releases.

Shit, that's three amazing bands. Not a fan of Arch Enemy, but I don't mind their presence.

Hey dudes! First time posting in here (I think). I don't know how you feel about metalcore, but this just happened, and I enjoyed it and wanted to share it.

The first song is really cool, and the next few are ok, but the rest of the album gets worse and worse. It's kind of a letdown, because that first song was really promising.

ARCH ENEMY has parted ways with guitarist Nick Cordle and has replaced him with Jeff Loomis (pictured; ex-NEVERMORE). Loomis will make his live debut with ARCH ENEMY on the band's upcoming European tour, which kicks off November 26.

Says Loomis states: "I'm very excited to be playing with ARCH ENEMY.

"[ARCH ENEMY guitarist] Michael Amott and I have stayed in contact over the years since we toured together when I was playing in NEVERMORE. Not only do I admire his guitar playing and songwriting, but I also consider him a close friend. To be able to share the stage with Michael, Sharlee, Daniel and Alissa is something I'm really looking forward to.

"2015 is going to be a great year... See you all on tour!"

Says Cordle: "With [the latest ARCH ENEMY album] 'War Eternal' I believe we wrote an album together which will stand the test of time, and I wish them well for the future."

U.S. fans will be able to catch a special reunion as Christopher Amott (the brother of ARCH ENEMY founder/bandleader Michael Amott) has joined the band for the remainder of their American headlining tour.

Says Michael Amott: "We all wish Nick the very best in his new endeavors and we are sure that you will hear much more from him. We're also super grateful to my brother Christopher for stepping in to finish the current American tour!

"The prospect of working with Jeff Loomis moving forward is truly awesome!

"Jeff Loomis is one of the best guitar players in the metal world, in my opinion, as well as being a longtime friend. I look forward to tearing it up on stages around the world together as we continue on the 'War Eternal' touring cycle throughout all next year and beyond!"

DREAM COME FUCKING TRUE FOR ME HOLY SHIT

Still looking forward to Jeff's next instrumental album (since I love instrumental stuff) but I'm so fucking excited to hear him with vocals again and Alissa is awesome.

if there was one thing i learnt from hellfest this year, was you do not want to sleep outside of the festival. the transport òrganised is non existent, and took me up to 3-4 hours to get home.
just camp it up.

the line up looks pretty good, but im still partial to this years lineup

That's quite a trip from Australia.

Yep.

I haven't gone overseas since 2011. Worth it. A little two week jaunt in Europe while there etc.

Intended on camping. Got any other advice?

now spinning: Immolation - Close to a World Below LP (Cyclone Empire 2011)

one of my favorite pickups in a while. A true pillar of American death metal.

Immolation is a great fucking band. Their blend of unique riffing, drum patterns that follow the guitar, and Ross Dolan's vocals make them one of my favorites. I pick Close as their best album.

My brother camped the first year and had an outside accommodation the second year, and he greatly preferred the latter. To each their own, but IIRC he had no real problem moving between places. He probably hitched a ride from locals who were staying at the same place he was, though.

honestly for me it's kind of difficult to pick between the first four. They were all ahead of their time in their own way, but Close to a World Below is for sure their peak.

So, if some of you don't know what to do end of spring 2015, come to the Hellfest festival in France. I just saw the lineup and it is pretty crazy : link

Yeah, their early work is fantastic as well; Dawn of Possession and Here in After are both classics alongside Close. Nailed To Gold is an awesome song

Anyway, just got around to listening to Transcend the Rubicon (it went unnoticed for me and never bothered listening to it). Fantastic slab of Old School Death Metal.

Crazy dreadful, you mean? Holy shit, Hellfest has fallen damn quickly. MDF seems a million times more appealing, even despite my initial misgivings. Though I probably won't go to that either. Already sold out IIRC... -_-

What Blut Aus Nord album should I begin with?
I like my black metal to be like Watains Lawless Darkness and Aosoths Arrow Through the Heart and III, of that gives any help. Havent listened to BAN at all but I have heard there name come up in a lot of metal threads so there has to be some quality to it.

Been rocking out to Bathory all night for some reason. Must be the winter setting in.

BATHORY!!!!!!!!

What albums are your favorites?

I really like Mort, but that's not really all that representative of them, honestly. The new album wasn't all that great, either.

I would say try The Work Which Transforms God first.

Start from the beginning.

I think Blood Fire Death is probably the one that I've listened to the most, but I'm generally a big fan of all of the early albums. I can essily listen to the first 4 without feeling like I meed to change it up.

Blood Fire Death my favorite as well, shit is ripping
