Can we talk about the misanthropic masterpiece that is Dystopia's Human = Garbage?

Yeah I didn't realize. Honestly i'tll probably be the length of any other band's full length anyways lol.I think it's an EP actually. Nevertheless, I can't wait.
So what your saying is this double album should be a single album with a bonus disc of songs that didn't make the cut?
Don't really care about the live show. Unless there's something really rad I don't know about... I mean I doubt the live show is like as good as Roger Waters 2015, which I just watched the other day.

I really like Colored Sands but it's so dense that I have a hard time getting through it all in one sitting
I'm thinking more on the line of a theatrical musical rather than a live DT concert. In a Rolling Stone Article JP did mention plans for eventually making Astonishing a Broadway show.
"Next year might be too soon, but I'll tell you, in coming up with this plan, we have thought about all of the possibilities. The Who did it with Tommy and Green Day with American Idiot, so it's not out of the question. It's something that would be fantastic I would love it to happen. All of the elements and ingredients are in place. Hey, it could be the next Disney movie musical [laughs]! Everything is geared up, and the sky's the limit."

And I think we found the reason the album sucks so much. They're way too obsessed with what is seriously not that great of a story. If it was backed with great music, sure it'd be alright. It's not the worst thing in the world, but they're getting high off their own farts here. They are way too into the story and the music suffered.

Riverside's Facebook page just put this up relating to Piotr's tragic passing. Posting the last paragraph from it. I'm completely crushed. I've had a history with said band, and I've seen some tough times, but Riverside would always be there to help me through. Gutted. Absolutely gutted.

It must be a joke, a grim twist from the damned "Game of Thrones", which we were reading avidly at the same time, checking furtively how many pages the other one had got left to read. A terrible blow as if a baby learning to make its first steps was swept away by that big wrecking ball. And all that's left is a huge black empty hole with remnants of dead flesh around. I feel as if half of my heart was ripped out of my chest, as if half of my soul was taken away from me. I keep crying and I can't get a grip. I feel an immense sea of sadness and pain inside me. Yes, sometimes, to balance things out, I get a glimpse of black humour. Sometimes, I'm simply pissed off. But the truth is, I miss you, Piotr, and I don't know how to cope with it. A lot has ended when you died, a lot has faded, vanished, fallen to pieces. I am simply devastated. I feel as if tides were crashing me against rocks and with every wave it's getting worse. I don't know when the pain will pass but it looks like for now it has to be a part of me. Just like you have been a part of my life.
Farewell my beloved Friend. See you somewhere on the other side.

Looks and sounds like Dillinger Escape PlanAnyone familiar with HECK (previously called Baby Godzilla) here? Debut album is out soon and if you ever, EVER get the chance to see them, do so immediately. Single handedly the most insane, entertaining and outright dangerous live band I have ever seen.

Oh I thought they were quitting.... interesting.
You seem like you would like GULAGGH/STALAGGH. Or the concept at least.

Yeah, I'm gonna sleep well tonight. That's some crazy stuff.Damn, this is nightmare fuel.
Candlemass \m/
I've seen two awesome gigs with them.
Really jealous of this. They were one of the bands I've always wanted to see, but never did. I'm having a hard time even finding the Candlemass Live - 1990 video

There is no chance I'm not late here, but the new Borknagar is fucking awwweeeessssooome.
New Anthrax drops today, For All Kings. Anyone had a chance to listen yet? It's not available yet on Google Music so I haven't yet.
Anthrax wishes they could write songs for John Bush but he doesn't give a fuck about them so they settle for Joey
The result is something that doesn't have the hooks or riffs of their classic material, while also lacking the balls of the Bush era
Worship Music was written for Dan Nelson (Bush/Anselmo wannabe), they kicked him out and got Bush for festivals but he didn't want to commit full time, so they got Joey again. In the span of like a year. Was pathetic. Then they put out a bunch of press releases like "oh yeah we reworked the album, it sounds really old school" but they didn't do shit, they forced lame melodic parts into rasp sections and changed lyrics. There's recordings of the songs on Youtube with Nelson singing them live years before and they're a lot better than what they ended up putting out (mainly because it was how they were intended)
Anthrax used to be my favorite of the big 4 but they really squandered my interest with that BS. Then Exodus followed suit by ditching Rob Dukes and becoming a bad legacy act
It's frustrating because to me, if you decide to go all in on "nostalgia" then I expect there to actually be some effort put into it. They did Among The Living a few years ago which was cool, but when regular setlists are the same shit every time it's super boring.I agree with you entirely. Thre is so much mess they are doing for a long time now with their singers and it's completely fine if people like this new album for what it is, just the messaging of old school that is completely BS to me.
Anthrax is still one of my top 5 thrash metal bands, but what is going on right now (or for a while depending where you are coming from with their career) is just not for me.
Well, I for one think the new Anthrax is fun and catchy. What I've always liked about Anthrax.
Saw Ensiferum and Metsatöll last night! Great show
I know some of you guys told me not to get my hopes up, but I thought the band was great and the mood was good. And holy shit Petri's voice... wow. I had an awesome time.

Just what the fuck.
P.S.: A little self-promotion here, but I thought some of the photos I took were pretty damn awesome (I do this professionally). I did my best to capture the mood of the show, see them here.
Please let me know if this shit isn't allowed
It wouldn't be dream theatre without 10 extra layers of bloat. So, gave Dream Theater's latest album, "The Astonishing" a listen, and my impressions aren't positive...

Their 2013 self-titled was really dissapointing in my opinion, which left post-portnoy DT at a 50/50 split in terms of material I've liked! "A Dramatic Turn Of Events" was a pretty good album, but this album feels waaaay too bloated and full of samey sounding filler to really enjoy as a whole, shame as it starts off strong with the first of the album's instrumentals, "Dystopian Overture" and the album's first proper song, "The Gift Of Music" which are both fantastic, and it felt like the gang had gotten out of their recent rut, but then comes song after song of slow paced piano driven ballads that monologue and try to push the bland story along, with brief teasing glimpses of that complex instrumentation and lyricism that I love DT for strewn sparingly throughout. Whilst I understand it's a concept album these guys have done it way better in the past.
"Metropolis Pt2: Scenes From A Memory" was a much better concept album and that only clocked in at about 12 tracks! That album was tightly packed together and knew how to space out everything, it had slow quiet moments, ferociously fast instrumentals, and each track sounded unique and refreshing when listening to the entire thing in one sitting. It also told it's story in a much less overblown and more intriguing fashion than this over-engorged mess.
A huge portion of this album just feels too samey, and that's a shame as tracks like "Lord Nafaryus", "A New Beginning", "Moment Of Betrayal", "The Path That Divides", "Our New World" and the aforementioned "Dystopian Overture" and "The Gift of Music" show that if this album was significantly shorter, veered away from it's concept album origins, and shed a ton of it's bloat then it could've actually been a solid album. A crying shame. This, along with Ayreon's "The Theory of Everything" are prime examples of albums that try to do way too much instead of focusing on a tighter, more focused album.
I didn't care for the older stuff I heard from them but this album is great. I'll probably have to pick it up.

Nice photos. Some really great work there.
I'm sure no one will mind you posting more as long as you don't spam the thread.
Koriandrr, nice pics
There was a couple standing near me on Ghost concert in Vienna. And they just stood there and filming a WHOLE concert. From the start to the end and both just stood there, transfixed to that phone recording the show.
