New Ackercocke album out today. It's so good, really what you'd expect from them. Same tech/black/death/proggy thing they've got going on and I can't recommend it enough. Here's a song off of it. https://youtu.be/-DX21xOdQo0
Cyhra (Jesper Stromblad's new band) new song Karma
Music is great, but I don't like the vocals. Too clean.

I dig it. Threw a little bit to help put a down payment for your next $20 pedal. My new band finally has its first release out, check it out if you want. Grind, etc.

Totally unnecessary but very much appreciated. Thanks, friend. Glad you dig it!I dig it. Threw a little bit to help put a down payment for your next $20 pedal.
Saw Pallbearer last night. Good show, but was surprised they were pushed to the smaller upstair stage (capacity 138ish) which didn't fill up either. Maybe 80 people? Thought these guys would have drawn more than that in a college town.
My buddy and his girlfriend left halfway thru saying this wasn't what they were expecting with Pallbearer. This was after telling me a few days ago that he had listened to about 20 songs and was digging it. Ok.....
This is cool, thanks for sharing itHas anyone heard the new Sannhet record? At times it reminds me of a fast, heavy Explosions in the Sky. Fans of Alcest and other blackgaze type stuff would probably like it too.
"So Numb"
That is sorta bizarre, but then again, I wouldn't think they'd be a hit among college kids.
How was their sound? I saw them a year ago with Baroness and their sound was so thick and warm while still absolutely crushing.

I still find it bizzare watching a video and seeing those deep growls come out of someone female. She's a damn good singer, but there is a certain cognitive dissonance thing happening when I watch her do it.
Then you must check out Onielar's voice on Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult: https://youtu.be/jRe4Caed-Wg and Bethlehem: https://youtu.be/dRe5BtzBi3Y, and Lori Bravo's on Nuclear Death: https://youtu.be/0Z491nMRCfA
Both play guitar as well, and beat many of the male vocalists in their genres.
The higher pitched vocals are fine, it's specifically the deep death growls at the start of the Arch Enemy song.
Lori Bravo also does those: https://youtu.be/KBg1cebTpDs

It's beautiful.
Oh yeah, I noticed that, but because there was no video of her singing, the dissonance wasn't there. It's a visual thing, rather than an aural thing, if that makes sense?
Either way, they all do a great job and I couldn't care less what gender they are, but actually seeing them do the deep growls is...odd in some way.

re: fucking brutal female-fronted death/doom. One of the absolute finest examples.
Thorr's Hammer (WA)
Why do music documentaries get me into a band? I had zero interest in Cannibal Corpse until I ran into a doc about them on YouTube which was pretty cool. Watching one on Morbid Angel now but didn't get too far before I had to head to work. Again, no real interest in MA either but now I'm taking another look and kind of digging them too.
Cannibal Corpse vid. This is like 3 hours long.

I'm getting more and more into alot of metal that seems to mix Black Metal type stuff with more melodic and atmospheric aspects, on top of well, uh, better sound mix.
I know of Deafheaven, Alcest, and i recently found out about Harakiri For The Sky and they're awesome. Here's Jhator by them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXNBM6HJCSA
Anyway, as i understand people often name it as blackgaze, right? Or atmospheric black metal i guess, or maybe not black metal at all. Iunno, metal has so many fucking sub-sub-subgenres.
Anyway, that stuff is awesome. Someone gimme more
