The MK8 DLC2 music

What if they were holding back the release of the OST to add these songs?

Goddam Big Blue, goddam. Arguably one of the best renditions since the original. MK8 Soundtrack is on another level. It's like, they didn't have to go this far, but they did and it's glorious.

I love it but I will repeat it again:

Why put these beautiful musics but not a sound menu to adjust sound FX and sound tracks volume? This is beyond me :(

I almost feel like starting a petition XD

PS: Super Bell Subway is lovellyyyyy !

Yes, the ability to balance music and sound FX volumes are my top wish for MK8. But I'm curious how the recent 200cc demo of Mute City with no music and only sound FX was made.

I'll sign that petition all day

after Tropical Freeze I was pretty bummed that Mario Kart 8 didn't have any sound options

That Big Blue remix
O.O
Unthinkable, I think I prefer that mix to the one from FZero-X.
I never thought I would ever see that!
It's insane!

So good, it's really amazing work.
Hope these guys become more household names in future Nintendo games.
Or maybe they already are and I don't know it ;_;

I would drop a lot of cash on an art book showing pre-production concept art and environments as well as a soundtrack for Mario Kart 8.

No lies.

Agreed. Ever since I had saw some of the concept art for SM3DW, I want a big, fat art book that is stuffed with development art, concept pieces, renders.... the works!

Not normally much of a fan of sax-heavy music, but Nintendo always manages to do it in SUCH an awesome way that I love it.

Nintendo are masters of DLC.

The MK8 OST arriving next week for CN Japan might indicate:
1. The generally Western design of the artwork points toward a non-Japanese release of the OST
2. Nintendo has no plans for more DLC tracks for MK8

The DLC2 of Mario Kart 8 continues the tradition of the original Mario Kart 8 and the DLC1 with great attention to the music tracks.

Nintendo has now posted recording session videos for all the non-retro tracks of the DLC2. Here are the videos, with a list of the skilled musicians appearing on-screen in the videos.

Big Blue

Takashi Masuzaki, Electric Guitar
Teppei Kawasaki, Bass
Satoshi Bandoh, Drums
Kazuki Katsuta, Alto Saxophone

Oh yes.

Damn this music is great. Dying to play MK8 but the price never drops, might break soon.

Nintendo seems to have no problem selling copies of MK8, so the price might not drop anytime soon. Personally, I think with all that value of the DLC1+2, MK8 becomes much more worthwhile as a game when the DLCs added. There simply are no similar courses to the F-Zero tracks or the Excitebike track in the main game.

And the music quality is just as high in the DLC packages as in the main game. Which is so impressive, specially considering MK8 is the first Mario Kart that has one dedicated tune for each racing track.

Nintendo please put out the the whole soundtrack including the DLC songs for sale. Would instantly buy these in a heartbeat.

I always mistake MK8 threads as Mortal Kombat threads, :-/

Holy heck I hope Club Nintendo Europe will release this soon. I would happily spend my remaining star points on this.

Pre-ordered my copy, there's total 68 tracks in 2CDs.

That cover looks so swag.

I must be the only one that absolutely hates the new rendition of Big Blue. Saxaphone murders that song. Much prefer the original. I wish they'd let you pick the song that plays on tracks like Brawl. Track will not get a lot of play at my house.

Edit: I'm really getting tired of saxaphone songs in mario kart in general.

I'm not a fan of the sax either, and I'm sad MK8 used it so heavily. That said, even though I think Big Blue would be better without it, I still think it's a great rendition of the song nonetheless.

My absolute favorites from the OP's first four are Wild Woods and the subway. The subway is absolutely killer once that awesome electric guitar kicks in midway.

Seriously, the Big Blue arrangement sounds like a song from a heavy Progressive Rock band from the 90s. It is just so freaking good!! Still mad the update for this thursday doesn't have a sound option to turn up the volume of the songs. This is a sin. Having an amazing soundtrack like this and not being able to listen it properly unless it's on youtube with all the downgrade in quality sound.

"Saxamaphone".

Actually...the songs(including the upcoming dlc) have been ripped from the game already in high quality :P

Enjoy some cheese

The lack of a sound test/options is questionable after 9 games...especially when smash has it.

I have the soundtrack preordered on Club Nintendo Japan.

The estimated release date is June/July. Long wait.

This actually sounds really good. I'm hearing them with headphones and it sounds great! Thanks for sharing them! Can't get enough of the Big Blue remix in particular oh my goddd.

I know i'm the minority in this but not exactly a fan of the saxophone in Big Blue.

And generally, i don't like how many tunes in this game and many other later Mario games tend to sound like something you would listen to a casino. Every time i listen to Mario 3D World soundtrack (for instance) i can't keep the image of Mario and gang in tuxedos playing roulette and black jack.

Not a fan at all.

Does anyone know how to make a Club Nintendo Japan account, because I can't figure it out for the life of me and I would really like to get the MK8 OST.

Your criticism, while understandable, is still a weird one. The F-Zero series (especially the SNES & N64 games) have always had a big woodwind/bass guitar influence, more so with the Big Blue & Whiteland tracks. Nintendo had even released a jazz-arranged soundtrack of the SNES game back in the day, & I would urge you to check it out.

Also, keep in mind that not all the tracks in the MK8 soundtrack have an emphasis on trumpets & saxophones. Accordions, synthesizers, violins, electric & bass guitars, drums, lute, morin khur, piano, erhu, and even an ocarina where some of the instruments that where used to compose the games soundtrack. If anything, I couldn't be more happy with how diverse the music selection is, as there is something for everybody.

Man I love the saxophone in big blue.

Here's the official Jazz rendition of Big Blue.

I like it a lot, fit the mood they were going for with the album.

In here the new Big Blue theme its faster paced (compared to the Jazz version) to accommodate for the racing, I like it. The transition to the short guitar riff starting from 1:10 is great too. Pretty good composition I'd say.
