The Odyssey (2026) Trailer

Terrence Ross Wow GIF

Ohh dear.

Looks ok.
I just find the more grounded art direction and muted colors kind of boring, and seemingly every character being played by some well known actor is distracting.

"My dad is coming home"

Lmao

"You're pining for a daddy you didn't even know, like some sniveling bastard"
― Homer, The Odyssey (Probably, dunno, didn't read it, Chris Nolan)

I'm shocked that Nolan wrote the script for this film. The dialogue from the trailer is shite.

I watched the trailer again and I'm just not into it. The dialogue, the odd accent choices (looking at Tom Holland and Robert Patterson) the bizarre costume design (was that late medieval plate armour??), the random casting......

Nah.

Looks like a poorly edited trailer, but I can see a good film in there. I need to get around to reading the book before this releases, I recently finished The Iliad.

I read the story at different stages in my life, had colored pictures and what stuck with me was colorful, golden tones, bright yellow sand, etc. Why the hell is everything in this movie black? I mean they even took out saturation from the trees, even they are black. The beach is like Normandy D-Day...this doesn't look anything like a fantasy, its like a WW2 documentary instead about a made up story lol.

I agree that the cinematography is strongly suggesting this film is gonna be a dour, grim, depressing slog. There are a lot of themes you can pull out of The Odyssey, it doesn't INHERENTLY have to be like this. It kinda feels like the last grasp of the past decade, hold weakening, trying to stem a tide sweeping past it, leading us into (or back to?) a brighter future.

I'm not sure Nolan has ever been to Greece. He does know Greece is a real place you can visit and not some mythical land of legend, right?

Wait. So we're 1.5 months from release and they still haven't disclosed who plays Helen?
It's Lupita and they are just afraid of admitting it, right?...
