Anyone with all the gold yet?Or am I the only one here
op_ivy said:at work today (home depot), i made some schematics for a racing set up i'm gonna build. should work quite well, and be cheap to boot. only thing i'll be missing is a chair.
anyone got any suggestions? maybe an auto pick and pull (they still might charge a lot for one though)? if i could find a cheapo seat that at least fits somewhat like a real car seat, that would work
like this?

shpankey said:p.s. i just ordered my DFP wheel at Amazon (using the GAF link at the top to help the forum with $ - which everyone should do btw). $104.99 total, no tax, no shipping. I love Amazon because even with the Free shipping, since I live so close to Dallas, I always get my order the next day. Since it's Saturday, I imagine I will get in on Monday. I'm going to a friends tomorrow to watch the Nascar race, and he also bought GT4. Afterwards, we are gonna play for the rest of the day. Just wish I could bring that wheel with me. I know he would trip out over that. Hope it's as good as you say Gek. As I am selling my red Logitech MOMO Force (a classic) on blind faith that this new DFP wheel will be better (it better be, as I love this red momo, and it is not being made anymore and are near impossible to get).

At the very least wait until Monday when you have the DFP in your possession. It's a great wheel, but it's not going to replace the MOMO for PC racing. 900 degrees mode is awesome in games that have been programmed for it (aka GT4 and that's about it at the moment). For other games, 900 is a bear because the controls are linear (meaning excessive movements for even the slightest turns) and it is practically impossible to dial in opposite lock. The 200 degrees mode is inferior to the MOMO's 270 (DFP range of motion feels too limited).
If you play PC racers, hold onto that wheel, bro.
i am just worried mostly about those cheap looking pedals on the DFP. i hope they are better than they look or at least as good as the MOMO's (which aren't bad at all when you do the brake/squash ball mod). The resolution went from 10 bit (1024 counts) [MOMO Force] to 14 bit (16384 counts) [DFP]

op_ivy said:seriously, i dont think its gonna be hard at all, and i'm not a handy guy either. get your self a seat you wanna use, take some measurements of positioning for the wheel and pedals (maybe using a real car for reference?) and draw up some simple plans using steel tubing and joints (this shit just screws together). head to home depot, have them cut your lengths, and just throw them together.
rough pricing estimates for what i plan to build are in the neighborhood of 40-50 bucks at the very most w/o a seat. i figure once i have it all bought and cut (which they'll do for you, if you give them a day or two to get it ready), it will only take an hour or so to assemble. my "blueprint" is surprisingly basic, but should work very very well. i'll definitely take some pics of it when its done, and likely throw up some plans to get someone else started.
shpankey said:sweet. would you mind publishing your Bill of Materials and length's of cut's etc here when you're done?
Edit: nm, i see you said you would. DOH! thnx.![]()
op_ivy said:i'll even post the skus so you can walk into your local depot, give your order to the special order desk for will call, and pick it up a few days later
that is, if all goes to plan, and i get a seat soon
Gek54 said:It is better over all. 180 degrees is soooo yesturday. These dumbasses could scare you from selling a NES.
isamu said:mashoutposse let me ask you a question....
does the Driving Force Pro wheel have a PHYSICAL limited range of movement of only 200 or 900 derees? I mean, does the wheel contain something inside of it that physically locks it into place when you activate the 200 degree mode?
In other words, let's say I decide to mod the wheel and place the PCB circuit of another wheel, the Speed Force Racing wheel for the Gamecube into the Driving Force Pro. Then let's say the Gamecube wheel has a set turning radius of 270 degrees....would that cause Gamecube racing games played with the modded Drivng Force Pro to have a limited range of 200 degrees?

Truelize said:I have gone through the Sunday cup and the FF challenge races where you don't need a license, and now I'm kinda confused as to where I should go now.
There are several choices open to me. But I want to be able to compete. Any suggestions?

Spazbiohaz said:So now I'm doing endurance races. Are you seriously telling me there is a 24 hour race!?!?!?! on Nürburgring Nordshschleife no less.
shpankey said:i should get my DFP today. what are some really good settings in GT4 for the DFP?
EekTheKat said:There's two tweaks that I didn't know about with the DFP (kind of lost the documentation when I ripped open everything + just tried to set it up blind).
- 900 Degree Mode:
SELECT + R3 + RIGHT PADDLE
- 100% Force Feedback mode:
SELECT + R3 + LEFT PADDLE
