Rewind back to E3 2005.

MS had yet another lacklustre E3 with myriad UE3 powered bald space marine shooters on show and the usual hyperbole about XBox Live being the only online network that could get away with charging unsuspecting consumers $50 a year for a lag-ridden peer2peer ’service’.

Then the Sony conference … and the Killzone 2 trailer blew everyone out of the water.

Gaming journalists.

Playstation fans.

And 360 owners.

After the initial shock came the inevitable denials. The MS viral machine was in full swing and very soon forums and blogs across the web were awash with accusations of ‘fake’ and ‘CG’ and it wasn’t long before major gaming publications reflected that sentiment in features and articles about Killzone 2’s ‘fabricated CG trailer’.

Nevermind that most of the writers for these gaming media outlets couldn’t understand code written for an x86, they were now telling Sony and Guerrilla that the Killzone 2 trailer wasn’t done to PS3’s spec and that it was in fact impossible this generation to replicate that kind of geometry and animation on any platform.

Well here’s the proof and clearly not only did they match the trailer but they even surpassed it in some respects (animation, lighting etc).

In light of this year’s astonishing IN-GAME Killzone 2 trailer, many have forgotten the witch hunt that took place in E3 2005. We at The SDF will never forget and we hope the gaming media at large will be big enough to come out and say sorry to Sony for their lack of faith.

I don't understand people who couldn't comprehend the fact that they were an elite and started shooting their Covenant comrades the moment they got in-game.

Personally, I was like "oh shit, I get to play as an elite?! MEGATON!!!" D:

Because, you know, I had no idea you got to play as Arbiter. At all.

Well dude, its not like I said I got stuck in the first Arbiter level because I couldn't comprehend not shooting my teammates.

I looked at it this way: The Covenant see humans as an affront to their gods. They want us dead. I watched them kill my fellow humans throughout the entire Halo 1 campaign. I wanted them to pay! I didn't want to "see their side of it" because they were the ones who came to our worlds and started destroying us without so much as a "hello".

They laughed when they killed me or my fellow marines, they called me a demon, heretic etc. I'd been trained to hate them. So stepping into their shoes just pissed me off because I was worried I'd have to shoot humans and rub elbows with the jerkoffs I'd been killing for years already.

That said, I'm glad now that the story is the way it is. I'm very excited about the MC + Arby teamup, and I'm even more excited to see more about the 3P and 4P characters that join in. I really hope they're added to the cutscenes and not just different skins as I'd like to know all about what makes them join the Chief, etc.

But there you go. Now you can understand why I reacted like I did back in '04.

WTF man... i mean seriously.

Does it really matter?
The Smash thread is as big as it is due to daily updates of real infos.
This thread grew to this size, yet had no real need to!!!!

Just play the games, and worry not about the size of the threads. Both games are gonna be awesome. Thank your gaming gods you live in the year 2007. Halo3, Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros in 3mths of each other is HUGE. Play them all man!

This thread is a bumpy ride.

An observation for you guys to chew on: the spoilers being circulated now are starting to feed on themselves, and I've been seeing some misinformation and inaccuracies being circulated as canon by chumps too caught up in the act of massive spoilage to fact check. They just regurgitate what they read and clap like seals when you guys freak.

Things are wound up now to the point where you could say "and at the end, Marcus Fenix appears in a cameo role... and DIES!", and people would take it as gospel. They are, in fact, already adopting the shotgun approach with the "X DIES!" meme.

Based on the material I know to be out there (and I've been watching plenty of forums, the overwhelming majority of which are vastly filthier than this thread), I don't think anybody here is ruined. In fact, some of you who think you're irrevocably spoiled are in fact not. You're being lied to and this isn't even occuring to some of you.

And no, I'm not going to clarify which "spoilers" are inaccurate, heh. That'd be stupid.

At this point, you should be careful, be skeptical, and relax.
