It was decent and then I saw the replayability part, the description does not match the actual winner of category. Then again it is an opinion
lol at their replayability part again, this should of went to H3 which would of ended the contest in a tie
saw that too - kz2 might legitimately win in a head to head - but their reasoning was non-existent :lol

I love how in the article, it says this of Halo 3. "It's still played a great deal online and many gamers will continue to play it even after Halo 3: ODST releases."

....Lol.

I too, was confused on how Killzone 2 wins on replayability, since it's been out for less than a week.....but flame-bait is flame-bait.

Well, I finally gave up on making something in forge. I have some ideas, but it's so time consuming, and for some reason I get motion sickness when using forge. Plus, there's the fact that I'm not good at using forge. I feel bad that I'm not contributing something, but I just can't make anything at this time. :(

Also, I'm lovin' the KZ2 talk in here, it's nice to hear some impressions of other shooters from like-minded people. I'm seriously considering picking up a PS3 and KZ2, so it's nice to hear some opinions.

sand times have fallen upon vhfive. he was foolish at the beginning of his creation. he deleted every thing from sandbox to start fresh in the crypt. he knew this might bite him in the end but thought "well i'll just map it out. then go back, after i see how i want to make it and restart." 4 hours later he realize that he hadn't intended to actually start but now had to much work done that he did not want to restart. about 10 playing hours later he finished his map. finally he thought i only have spawns left. after two spawns he runs out of objects he can place...

now he has to restart the whole damn thing over again. the good news is that he now knows exactly what he wants to do and it will probably only take one afternoon of hard work to complete. the bad news is that he went crazy and went on a one man riot through the middle of town (breaking windows and shit). he is now dictating this message with his one telephone call he gets from jail. he wanted to reassure everyone though that when he gets out he will restart. it maybe a couple of days but be patient because when he does release his beast halo will be changed forever.

Oh pshhhhhh, sarcasm is sometimes very difficult to detect on forums. *points at Dax*

And that comparison by Gamepro is laughably bad. Gamepro always puts out the worst features.

lol at their replayability part again (they could of explained why KZ2 has better replayability), this should of went to H3 which would of ended the contest in a tie
True. I don't see what evidence they have that a game with a standard Single Player and Multiplayer beats a game with 4 player online co-op, skulls, Multiplayer, Forge, continuing support from the developer and community, and is still #1 on the Xbox Live charts... and probably will be for another year with Sandbox and the Mythic Map Pack. Don't forget the release of ODST/Mythic Part II later this year too. Obviously, Killzone has just been released, so we can't comment too much on replayability, but all signs point to Halo 3... even in their article.

I respect KZ2 but why comment on the replayability when the game just came out?
I don't really understand a lot of the feature's comparisons. Honestly, I don't think Halo 3 lends itself to comparison with KZ2. There are just so many differences between the two games, most notably the aesthetics of each game, that, to me, just make the two incomparable.

Shh, don't say that. It will only fuel the fire and open up old wounds.

Next thing you know people will get mad and demand accountability from Bungie. You know the kind where they tell Bungie that they should have gave the codes to people who would actually play the new maps, most importantly to people who would start building new, interesting, and actual playable maps right away. I would probably guess that these haters, these 'dorks that don't get the hot cheerleaders', would aim the biggest scorn towards the amount of codes Bungie handed out.

Oh well it's too bad that Bungie is limited in the amount of codes they could hand out, good thing the haters weren't right. Right?

I dunno shit about Killzone 2. But unless you can go rewatch a match of it , save a clip of a great moment and upload it to a fileshare where you can send it off to others and view stats of the game. Edit the MP maps and create custom games. Then it doesn't really compare.

TBH I watched it on Justin.tv and thought it was CoD for awhile, it remains to me Generic Shooter #14.

Exactly, KZ2 seems like more of a generic rehash of some already flourishing gameplay mechanics and a new coat of paint. Couple that with the 'meh' controls that Blood was talking about earlier, and it doesn't seem to be able to hold a candle to Halo.

Bungie: We'll update playlists to retake #1 spot

Thursday 26-Feb-2009 4:40 PM Vague plans outlined on how they'll win back the most played game on Xbox Live crown.

Bungie has told OXM that it will update the matchmaking lists to keep Halo 3 fresh in a bid to become the most played game on Xbox Live once again.

"We're just happy we continue to remain up near the top some 17 months out from launch and Halo 3 does manage to sneak back to #1 every now and then," Halo 3 designer Lars Bakken tells OXM. "We're just going to keep updating Matchmaking to keep it fresh, we'll keep updating Bungie.net to keep it cool and current and expand the game experience and of course new maps always help to get the community reinvigorated."

He admits that Bungie's goal isn't to get back to the number one spot but to keep their fans happy. Call of Duty: World at War has kept the top spot on the Most Played charts for a few months now - do you see Halo 3 regaining its position at the very top?
Someone was fishing for a headline. Lars said specifically that wasn't the goal.

I could care less about the headline, I just posted what the article name was. This is the part that I'm most concerned about:

"We're just going to keep updating Matchmaking to keep it fresh, we'll keep updating Bungie.net to keep it cool and current and expand the game experience and of course new maps always help to get the community reinvigorated."

But I guess April is soon enough to keep Matchmaking fresh.

Anyways, I thought you could record vids and look at stats in KZ2? I remember reading an article that said you could do all that?

*edit* here it is: KZ2 - Battle Replay

Speaking of replayability...

Halo 3: One BILLION Served

Wow at this part of the article.

This figure also does not include data from Custom or Offline matches.

Total Matchmaking Playtime: 2,023,153,340,764 seconds.

Yes, that's two Trillion seconds, or 64,109 years of playtime.

64,000 years ago:

* Neanderthal walked the Earth.
* Modern Man had yet to set foot in Asia.
* The Battle Rifle was Hitscan.

We couldn't have done it without you, our fans. Literally. Thanks a billion for all the good games and the continued community support. We're in awe of the success Halo 3 has been met with, but we're not done yet. Stick around and stay tuned, there's definitely more to come.

Love, Bungie.

theres another at the top of the view source info. the title on the internet browser.

and another in the same spot on the previous article.

Holy Jesus at the Killzone hate. I'd say you're doing it wrong, seriously it isn't that bad. I think the main reason why the controls are sloppy is the controller. The stick on the PS3 controller have too much travel and too little resistance. It literally makes my hands ache. But you probably couldn't tell from me playing it this weekend. Like 18 hours worth of multiplayer in three days. I got a medal for being in the top 6% on the leaderboards.

This is the first class-based game that I like. There are seven classes. Although the Tactician Spawn grenades can cause some chaos and break some modes, like Search and Destroy.

I never liked TF2, COD4 or Battlefield that much. The classes seemed too lame. I'd always end-up being the average assualt class. But in KZ2 I'm switching classes depending on what the team needs, which is usually dictated by mode.

Eventually you can mix and match classes secondary abilities. But unlocking everything isn't going to be as easy as COD4. It takes a ton of "work" and some luck to pull off some of the requirments. It's almost too hard. I'll guessing I'll never unlock everything.

I also like the 16 v 16 stuff. There's something very cool when both teams are lined up shooting the shit out of each other, with strobes flashing and bots flying around, people on turrets, medics healing people, smoke grenades etc.

I'm having fun with it. It's different, I've never really played a multiplayer game like this.

I'll still be playing it. I'll have to budget my time between KZ2 and the new maps.

I will be taking that GamePro article with a grain of salt considering I had to click through a Killzone 2 ad while I was trying to get to the third page of it :lol

Hey guys I got the halo wars collector edition and it had the code for the mythic maps.
at the moment they are only 4 on 4 so will they eventually become big team maps too?

As promised, a look at my attempt at a Warlock remake: Mage.

No High quality version yet though, stupid Youtube.

Also its not in my Fileshare yet as the spawns are squiffy :/

looks really, really nice!

is there any more budget to make the bases slanted like in the original? you could geoglitch a double box into the wall back there

Yes, Shishka has stated in this thread that when the maps hit the XBLMP there will be more than just 4 vs 4.

I'll second fin here, while the games are truly fundamentally different in their play-styles, I do think anyone here who has the opportunity to sink some time into Killzone should give it a shot. For me it doesn't touch Halo, it's more of competitor to Battlefield: BC with the squad and class based gameplay, minus the vehicles.

Aside from the incredible presentation, the game does a lot right. The mid-match objective switching is fun, the leveling up and class mixing is cool, and the Battle Replay feature online (whenever that gets working again) is something that's a nice evolution of the Halo Viewer web-wise.

My biggest issue was adjusting to the miserable Dualshock too, but a pair of real-triggers has helped immensely. The game's good stuff, and system warz shit aside, I'd like to see Bungie take a few cues from it. Competition is good.

I believe this thing with KZ2 is once again, everyone is trying to compare it and saying it beats H3. Just like CoD 4, when it came out everyone said that it was amazing and Halo sucked compared to it. So its the same thing once a new hyped game comes out, and it just gets annoying hearing about it everytime. So why would everyone compare any "hot" game to it, so I guess it must be king if all other games are compared to it. :D

Anyways, I'm looking forward to playing these forge maps you guys once I get them.

I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree.

There are so many more deserving playlists to be had than RR. The 5.4% or thereabouts that it shows up in Multi Team are more than enough.
