Sounds like Trey Burke is staying at UM next year, this is huge for scUM. He was their offense, without him they would have been in big trouble.

I didn't know the NCAA was attempting to do this:
According to the report, all of the coaches -- including Drew and Mulkey -- have acknowledged their involvement in the respective findings and are at risk for a show-cause penalty, which means any penalties will remain on record regardless of where they coach. Schools wishing to hire them would have to "show cause" as to why they shouldn't inherit the penalties. However, considering that most of the impermissible calls were made by their assistants, it appears unlikely that Drew or Mulkey would be slapped with a show-cause penalty.

That is actually kind of cool that they are trying to attach the penalty to the coach. It just means that the assistants will probably have to fall on the sword though. I wonder if you hire and assistant would the penalties follow that assistant? This almost makes me think the NCAA cares about cleaning up college sports..... almost.

That isn't anything new. Both Bruce Pearl and Jim Tressel were hit with show-cause penalties IIRC.

Baylor's huge and sudden recruiting success is certainly suspicious so soon after their last coach called a murdered player a drug dealer to hide illegal benefits, but all these coaches and programs getting done for phone calls and text messages is really unsatisfying, like getting Capone on tax evasion.

Is this really all there is, or is it all they can prove so far? Because I bet 9/10 programs in the nation break the permissible contact rules to some degree or another.

Too bad this Baylor mess didn't happen last year, we might have ended up with Q Miller. Well granted, he liked Duke, his handlers.....not so much.

I don't think Baylor's getting anything more than a slap on the wrist. Really, all a 4 year investigation could unearth was that the coaches were making a bunch of calls and sending a bunch of texts? Wow, I am SHOCKED at this!

the NCAA sucks. if you want some real dirt to get out put SI or Yahoo on it.

Don't be fooled, bro. The NCAA cares about the schools and athletes about as much as Bioware cares about their fans.

I just realized that I finished third in the NeoGAF pick em group.

I don't think I watched a single game from start to finish all season.

:/

Besides a couple of first round upsets (Lehigh, Norfolk State, Ohio), it was a pretty chalky tournament save the West region (which I had heard a lot of analysts claim was the most "unpredictable" region anyway). Besides that, the East and Midwest had the 1 and 2 advance to the Elite Eight and the South had the 1 and 3 (and let's face it, I don't know of anyone who picked Duke to make it to the Elite 8 - could hardly say they were favored to get there).

Expected (since nobody had him going in the 1st round and a lot of gurus had him going undrafted), but still great news

edit: Cody Zeller coming back too, as expected, official PR just got sent out

Mason Plumlee to return. I feel like Duke has failed him, I didn't want him to come back, not because I don't like him, I honestly think he'll do better with someone who knows how to teach the position.

With that said: Jefferson goes to NCSU, Parker is going to UCLA or Memphis, Bazz and Noel are UK bound. I mean they make their decision tonight at 7:30 on ESPN when Cal is scheduled to be on the show as well. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Zeller came back for his senior year and he was a far better candidate than Mason was in a weaker year.

Zeller came back to win a title (=() and also because he genuinely likes school (was in the business school, was on the Academic All-American team in 2010 and was Academic All-American of the Year this year). Not saying that Mason doesn't like school, but I think all the Zellers value their time in college and the "collegiate experience" more than other prospective pros.

Mason was an academic all american and a double major. He graduates this summer. I'm guessing the draft was too stacked in his position.

I'm so ready to see Noel and Bazz announce with Cal.

Hey, I'd love to see them go to UK, but it just seems like a law of averages type thing. Calipari has to miss out on top recruits at some point.

Scout predictions show Noel to UK, Bazz to UCLA, Bennett to Florida, Jefferson to NC State. I wouldn't mind that.

edit: lol, I forgot Parker but that's because he pushed his decision back. Again.

Parker will probably end up going with Bazz to UCLA. I think he was leaning hard on Connecticut earlier in the year, but since they are banned from postseason play for next year at the least, he won't touch them with a ten-foot pole.

And it's clear that he doesn't like Duke as much as his parents/handlers might like Duke, or he would have signed in November with Sulaimon.

Duke fans don't like Parker either, especially now that Mason is back.

I've heard Parker has strongly been considering osu lately

He was and then supposedly wasn't returning their phone calls. It was believed KU was the leader until Manning left, his parents really didn't like UCLA but he did. He supposedly hated Duke until he said he didn't hate Duke, was just concerned on how they would use him (can you blame him). I think we were strong with him until Mason decided to return. Now I'm think UGA possibly.

Bazz isn't signing with Duke, or at least NOBODY is reporting it, not even the insiders right now.

Bazz to Bruins. Book it.

Hope the kid doesn't cause the program that gets him to have to vacate their wins. That's a punishment for everyone, I think. It cheapens the season's accomplishments for every team.

Shabazz to Duke.

I am actually shocked that this happened.

Feeling indifferent for some reason.

Shabazz wants to fill Rivers' role. Passing is optional it seems. :)

EDIT: This time of year is so much fun. So many stories floating around all of them with questionable sources at best. :)

Who was Rivers going to pass it to? Dawkins or Curry? They were worse jack em joes than Rivers was.

EDIT: Bazz's "commitment" to Duke confirmed fake. Just some paid site members fucking with the free ones. Sure makes me want to sign up.
