What a game by KU. I hope those young men get a champion's welcome. They played amazing defense in the second half. A very impressive comeback. Self did an amazing job yet again.

Yea. You are salty. No big deal. What you really doesn't mean shit in terms of reality anyway so fire away. :)

Duke recruits one and dones, point blank period. You are going after Shabazz this year. This Kentucky team had two "two and done"(which is apparently OK judging by the mass media reaction to UNC departures), a senior, and a freshman that wasn't a "one an done". That is assuming Teague leaves.

Last year UK only had one player that was 1 and done, same as Duke, and they made it to the Final Four.

I think they should just remove the one year rule and let these kids go straight out of high school. If the NBA can't judge talent then it's on them.

One last note there will always be a "arms race" for the top tier talent. Regardless, always has and always will be. Nothing has changed.

1 and done has been around for a while, I also think it downplays that this UK group was a pretty good "team" that knew its personnel and how to play to its strengths.

You need talent, experience, chemistry and luck to win the NCAA. Depending on the matchups and a variety of factors, you may need more talent one year, or more experience another, or chemistry. There's no guarantee Cal's formula works next year. If the team isn't as together as this team was, they can lose to anyone on a bad shooting night.

We could theoretically get Bazz and Tony Parker on next years team, that would be a pretty talented team, but if they can't play together or can only play a limited style of offense and defense, like this year's team, talent doesn't mean shit.

I am awake after maybe 3? Hours of sleep. Nola was crazy last night. Heard kids in lex took over a fire truck and took the hoses?

It rained. So drank inside. By 2 it had stopped but bourbon street was rocking. Team arrived at the hotel and were received like kings.

Miller came out at like 3? Heard jones and lamb were out. Josh Hopkins and Rex Chapman joined us at Razzos at one point.

My throat is hoarse, my body aches, I'm tired, but I gotta go to the airport. For anyone curious, the team lands at 3 and the celebration is at Rupp at 3:30 - not sure if televised.

Watching them cut those nets down was amazing. And hoisting that trophy. Hot damn, 8pril came. Won my 4-1 bet I put on them in early November to win it all - $100 pays me my $100 back + $400! So that's nice. I hope we get all 6 in the first round. Noel and shabazz...you two best be coming on down. Why go anywhere else when you can get a championship before going pro? Until they change the rule on one-and-dones, KENTUCKY is THE place to be.

Exactly. It's almost surreal for people to now argue that Cal's formula is all of the sudden THE formula or the ONLY formula for success. UK got lucky in a couple of ways. Most importantly UK didn't have to play teams like UNC and Syracuse full strength in the tournament. UNC, and possibly Syracuse, I think very well could have beat UK in the tournament. We only beat UNC by one point at home for heaven's sakes. So to now act as if the only way to win a championship is "one and done" is idiotic and almost insulting to those two teams, who you are now arguing never had a realistic chance to beat UK.

EDIT: I think truly101 makes a number of good points, especially about how it's an attempt to downplay what UK did as a team, having basically 6 people average double figures in points for the season ( technically it was only five but Miller avg. 9.9 points per game so I am going to include him). But it's much easier for people to dismiss that under the "one and done" label, and ignoring the fact that they played as the consummate team.

Grats KY folks

That has to be the most dominant team since the 09 Tar Heels. I honestly think tonight's Kentucky team would beat that team

lol, let's not get ahead of ourselves. '09 UNC beat every team it played in the tournament by double digits, had a 21 point lead on a Blake Griffin-lead Oklahoma team in the Elite 8, had a 21 point halftime lead on MSU in the title game and won by 17 (not to mention, the game was IN DETROIT. Ford Field was 75%, if not more, MSU fans).

I am amazed at how UNC decimated the field that year. UK's team this year was insanely good and they still didn't stomp people into the dirt like that UNC team. It was the most impressive tournament run I have seen in my lifetime.

Everyone get their tickets for the celebration at Rupp?

They had a dominating tournament run, but their season performance was slightly less impressive. This Kentucky team doesn't have a losing record to any team they played all season.

They had nothing to play for in the regular season.
They'd already won both the ACC (did it a 3rd time for good measure) and the ACC Tourney twice in a row.

Uh, '09 UNC didn't either? Lost once to BC, once to WF, once to MD and once to FSU in the ACC tourney (w/o Lawson). 3 of those losses were by 3 points (two on the road, one on a neutral court). I'd rather be dominant when it counts - 18 point lead in the Final Four (14 point win), 24 point lead in the title game (17 point win).

I'm gonna go ahead and call the 0-1 against Boston and the 0-1 against Wake "losing records". Unless you have some other way to define it...

Duke recruits one and dones?

Maybe once every 3 years. That has always been one of their biggest criticisms of coach K.

That Florida squad would mop the floor with this UK squad. That team had absolutely no exploitable weaknesses. Hell I'd say the 07 tOSU squad would handle this UK fairly easily.

No offense but that Florida team lost to four unranked teams that season.

Nix from MSU arrested for pot

http://www.lansingstatejournal.com/...sketball-player-Nix-arrested?odyssey=nav|head

Michigan State University men's basketball player Derrick Nix was arrested Monday night in East Lansing on charges of operating a vehicle with the presence of drugs and marijuana possession, according to East Lansing 54-B District Court records.

Operating with the presence of drugs is a 93-day misdemeanor, and marijuana possession is a misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of a year in jail. Nix was still in the 54-B jail as of noon today and had not yet been arraigned, according to a court clerk.

MSU coach Tom Izzo could not be immediately reached for comment.

lol @ watching students try to talk their way out of arrests. I hope the Lexington police use whatever images they have and hunt down all the retards who weren't arrested.

That team was bored out of its mind waiting for the NCAA tourney to start. When they decided to turn it on ala the SEC and NCAA Tourney, they pretty much blasted all of their opponents. No doubt in my mind Florida wins by at least 10.

Slim to none.

No clue how OSU got Sullinger to come back last year...
I think Thomas comes back to improve his draft stock but yeah, Sullinger is gone. Sad because the thought of Thomas at the 3, Sully at the 4, and Williams at the 5 makes me moist.

BTW, I actually do think that UK will have a difficult time winning the title next year if Lamb goes league. He was their second leading scorer, best 3-point threat and barely got any recognition over Davis, Jones and (to a lesser extent) Teague. His back to back 3s were huge in slowing down the KU comeback bid. Without the poise of guys like Lamb and Miller, I could have easily seen the freshman wilt. Will there be a true upperclassman contributor on UK next year? Will be interesting to see how it works out...

And this Kentucky team basically only ever gave enough energy to beat every team they played. They had so much self awareness that they turned it on within individual games. We could go around and around in circles, but your Florida team almost lost to a shit Kentucky team that year. You really think they were too bored to beat Florida State? They also lost 3 of the last 5 games of the regular season. This Kentucky team lost one game on the road at the buzzer (to a team they later dropped 102 on) and one game to Vandy in a tournament they never appeared to care about but still couldn't play poorly enough to lose until the championship game.

This Kentucky team was outscored by 8 points, total, across all of their losses. If you think Florida would beat them by 10 then you're lost in your own mind. Hell, the game doesn't matter so they would probably be so bored they would lose.

NCAA was highly down this year, and past few years overall.

The 06-07 uf and osu team would beat this years uk team.

I hate these type of arguments. But I will say the FSU loss was because two of our starters were out with the flu. I also remember us blowing out that Kentucky squad.

Because it's an impossible argument, but blaming losses on a team being so good that they were bored is pretty weak. You did blow out a poor Kentucky team in your last game of the regular season, during which time Kentucky's coach was negotiating a deal to coach for another team. This was just after Florida had dropped 3 of 4 games and 2 in a row. Earlier in the season you beat Kentucky by 3.

The guy with his back to the camera is Wes. The picture has just been hipster style desaturated to hell and back.

Yep - came from Instagram so it's got all these filters and what not on it

Kids these days are just so spoiled with all of their colors and stuff. If only they could have it like the good old days, where everything in life was a shade of grey.
