No real surprise there. While we and the announcers always talk about the "Williams sisters" in the Gran Slams, the reality is that Serena is the only one that's ever really a threat to win in every one of them. Wimbledon is the only one where Venus is actually dangerous. You really don't have to worry about her outside of that one.

At least Venus' play improved from earlier rounds. But I called this and it wasn't a big surprise, I'm happy Kim is through to test Serena later on.

Zvoraneva was way too passive on her match points, by the 5th one it was pretty clear that Penneta was not making an error :lol

wow Clijsters!!! Great win for her. It would be awesome if she wins this tournament.

This Zvonareva/Pennetta match has been excellent so far.

Okay, it isn't very good tennis anymore, but Zvonareva at least keeping it amusing by flipping out.

Edit: Maybe I spoke too soon

can you blame her? after losing 6 match points that has got to take a toll out of your mentality.

She's playing Popeye.

Go Oudin! Or will her freak streak end today?

I think Söderling will take the battle against Davy, even though he lost the second set in an odd fashion.

I love womens tennis so much that I prefer to watch some Juniors singles match between some french guy vs. some japanese on sky sports rather than Oudin-Petrova. And who can blame me.. :lol

Though I gotta say there been a few good women matches so far, really a shame that I couldn't watch Pennetta vs. Zvonareva, gotta love that crazy russian.

And since when is Pennetta THAT good on HC? She always was nice to watch but shes killing them right now she has like 3 or 4 bagels to her credit already.

Women's tennis really sucks. I mean, really. They miss easy shots all the time, can't hold a serve to save their lives, make 30 double faults per match, etc. I have no idea what you find compelling about it.

Also, why is this Oudin character only playing Russian women? Looks like her streak is over anyway.

Söderling wins his second match in the tournament because the other guy retired. (Davydenko)

He was up two sets to one, to be fair to him. I still think Soderling is a force to be reckoned with.

If Soderling had an answer for Federrer he would be a serious contender, but for whatever reason he just can't do shit against federrer.

I don't see how that stops him from being a top 10 player and even pick up a couple of grand slams here and there.. Back in the day there were a few players that couldn't do shit against Sampras, yet still had considerable success.

I think that's a problem for 99% of any men's tennis player right now.

Well, not in the top 10. Both Nadal and Murray have winning records against him, and I'm pretty sure most guys in the current top 10 have beaten him in the past. Soderling's record against Federrer is what, 0-11?

I hope Wozniacki can overcome Kuznetsova later, alas I fear she may stumble in face of the Russian's stubbornness.

It doesnt help that Söderling seems to worship Federer...
