The Official Wii Games of 2008 Thread

^ Good news, thanks for the heads up (and confirmation). I'm very strongly considering getting it. Probably smarter than not to release in the midst of the February lull, and as far away from mega-March as possible.

EDIT: I just read IGN's recent preview linked in the article about the release date, and yeah, I'm definitely going to pick it up. Might pre-order it tonight. I haven't spent much time reading about this one, but what I've seen has me sold that it's right up my alley.

EDIT Part II: Just put down the little bit I had left on my Edge card, $18.75, on DQS. The deed is done, yay.

i think i was the only one who liked the gc version. i would pay $20 tops for this.

unless they have Addams Family pinball. then i would pay $50.

This is Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection.
I believe Adams Family was from Midway.

Amazon has it listed as $29.99 in the US (Feb 20) and $19.99 in Canada (Feb 28)? Though the PS2 version in the US is only listed as $14.99.
They must have high hopes for the Canadian dollar in the next couple of weeks.

Here is the list of tables as far as I know:

Taxi
Gorgar
Space Shuttle
Funhouse
Pin-Bot
Whirlwind
Firepower
Black Knight

Video pinball will never replace the real thing but I'm still looking forward to this collection.

Just felt like putting together some banners for this trend, they have video links too:

Is there any other games that could do with banners? I might make some more if you like. =)

There's no We Love Golf banner yet. Japanese homepage here.

Not sure if it deserves a new thread, but Capcom has a poll up on their blog, looks like its for unlockable chars in WLG.

Any impressions of Namco Bandai's Family Ski from J-GAF?

I've been pretty excited about its potential, being Balance Board compatible and all, but I've yet to find any impressions online. The demonstrations on GameTrailers look pretty good but I'd love to hear first-hand accounts of playing it.

Yeah, I own the game but without the fit board.
Hopefully, I'll be getting it in a few weeks.

Even without the wiifit board, the game's great. The controls too. There are some Namco musics like Mojipittan (alias Taiko no Tatsujin DS). Looks really better with the component cable and it's Dolby Surround 2.
Playing with your Wii is great too.

Awesome banners and nice youtube links, gagaman! Thanks much for taking the duty while Panther is banned for now. :)

BandMashups is going to be a day 1 buy for me if they can confirm the controls are working really well in the final version of the game.
The game just looks so bad ass. Does anyone know if it has online capability to duel with other players?

Bloom Box is definitely shaping up to a very cool game. But I'm still not sold on the game though - guess it's just not my style.

Eh, it's Sunday and I was bored. Made a couple of banners.

Linked to the trailers. Neither title has a solid release date yet (TBA 2008). World of Goo is a WiiWare title.

EDIT: One more. Told you I was bored.

Holy shit at World of Goo!!

That game is so bought day one!! Curses Ninty for not having a solution yet to their dismal 512 MB internal memory.

Anyone knows if Secret Files:Tunguska is shaping up to be a decent or good point n click adventure game?

Good job, Videoman.

Yeah World of Goo looks rad as hell

OF COURSE WITHOUT A HARDDRIVE...
I can see potential bitching about Nintendo's abysmal Wii harddrive support to grow along the thread as Gaffers get to know more about World of Goo. :lol

I'm definitely getting Tales of Symphonia 2, FFCC WiiWare and Wii Music. I'm on the fence about Baroque. Need to read reviews on it. The only other game I want to play is Smash Bros but my friends usually get that game, so I'll just play with them.

A list of some developers working on unannounced Wii titles. Made it for a German board some days ago. Maybe some of those are 2008:

- Media.Vision
- Firebrand Games
- Q? Entertainment
- Treasure
- Prope
- Image Epoch
- Shinen
- Keen Games
- Renegade Kid
- n-Space
- Gas Powered Games
- Big Huge Games
- Factor 5
- Pandemic
- Bioware
- Crytek
- Zoonami
- doublesix

Do Sony have the rights to the Wild Arms franchise? I wouldn't mind seeing a Wii release of one of those... Also looking forward to what Q? and Treasure have in store.

Panther maybe you can create a WiiWare section for some cool upcoming WiiWare games. :D

I'm actually going to adopt a WiiWare branding on relevant banners and treat them as normal games. The way that FFCC:TLK is shown (with the WiiWare moniker in the lower left) will be the standard.

Lots of updates since I was banned. I appreciate all the banners and those that kept this going in the meantime. Will update the OP with new (and rehosted) banners some time later tonight.

Also, Dragon Quest Swords coming out next week. Get hyped.

*updates coming*

*Update*

February
[ ] I will be changing the main banner of the thread regularly. Mostly for fun, but also to help you guys remember what to buy next. Enjoy!

[ ] DQS comes out Feb 19th. That's next tuesday.

[ ] Brothers in Arms slipped to March 4th. Why? So it can be overshadowed by Smash and every other better title out there, of course. (All the better to make excuses with my darling!)

March
[ ] This is going to be huge. Take away Smash, and it is STILL a huge month.

[ ] Start to expect more WiiWare announcements soon. It should be launching shortly after Smash (to capitalize on the online gamers). What's WiiWare? It's an outlet for devs to make GC-level games and charge what they should be in the first place: 1500 pts ($15). A less cynical view is that its an interesting distribution model that allows smaller devs to get in on the moneh without too much investment. I will be treating these titles like any other title that may or may not deserve a banner, but with a small moniker on the lower left acknowledging their status, like this:

wiiware-ffcc-banner.jpg

Q2 and beyond
[ ] April looks REAAALLLY friggin empty, save one little placeholder for WiiFit. Hmmm. If this is announced to actually launch in April, expect some quick-handed shuffling from other pubs to get their games around it.

[ ] May and June look decent, with Samba and a few other original 3rd party IPs to be launched around then. Not sure what the quality level will be, but few can doubt that the Wii is getting a huge amount of exclusive titles right now.

[ ] Looking beyond, there are a HUGE amount of great games coming down the pipes for the Wii. Games like Monster Hunter 3, Fatal Frame IV, Tales of Symphonia, Fragile, and Spore all promise to fill in that list of games that the Wii can hold up and say, "see?"

Some updates:

Click for new trailer (through IGN):

This looks excellent. As good of a city builder as I've seen in some time. At 1500 points, this title will help launch Wii Ware some time before summer.

Really old trailer that IGN is just now is posting, but it's a healthy reminder to check out the fucking awesome website. You can do so HERE..

Click for new 3-4 new videos (through IGN):

4 videos now available, I think one of them is insider only though. This is acutally looking pretty good. What do you guys think? Can this compete for your dollars even remotely in a packed month like march?

Okay, this game doesn't have the paper filter. Yes, it is still shockingly beautiful. Buy this game. Your eyes deserve it.

===========
The above games all represent different levels of 3rd party support. Make of it what you will. Sorry about fucking IGN flash video. If you guys can get/link youtube versions, that would be welcomed.

Enjoy! Also, if you're reading this thread, please comment and tell us what you think about upcoming releases and how they stack up to your wallet. I know mine will be hurting.

Mine's defiantly gonna be hurting. Out of that list there's at least about 15 games I'm at least looking forward to (wherever or not they all live up to that is another thing, but..) It probably helps that I have still not jumped into the HD gaming scene or even the DS/PSP one yet (because I'm a cheap bastard) but there seems to be plenty of interesting game even when taking the multi-format games out, and we still don't have No More Heroes in the UK, yet!

As much flak as the Wii's line up gets, I defiantly seem to be buying more games for it than I did the Gamecube, which seemed to have one game I liked every six months if I was lucky. Still has beaten the insane rate I have been buying PS2 games (due to only getting one last summer) but again, that's only because I'm a cheap git. :D

Releases tomorrow bitches! Anybody going to buy? I think this has to be a rental for me, but it definitely looks like fun. I didn't see an official thread (not sure that it warrants one), but if anybody makes one, I'd love to see some impressions.

UP NEXT: HOLY SHIT ITS MARCH. The biggest Wii month since its release.

I'm not touching this game with a 10 foot pole - especially not for $50

Yeah- way too many games coming out in March for me to bite on this. Maybe it if was 30 dollars.

Great thread Panther.

Should probably slap Mario Kart Wii for April, seeing as how both the Japanese and PAL land dates are set for April.

Another -1 for DQS since I've never been a fan of Dragon Quest - traditional or spin-off.

My wallet is definitely reserved for these titles for March:
FFCC: Wiiware
PES 2008

And keeping my eye out for this one:
Baroque

I usually like Dungeon Crawlers (my current obsession is Etrian Odyssey as late as I am to the party), so I'm really interested in seeing how Baroque fares in that regard.

Hmmm... Mushroom Men is coming out on June? Anyone have any updates on how the final game looks?
The game definitely has interesting art, but I'm not sure how the gameplay will hold out.

PS: June also looks to be a heavy hitter for my wallet. :/

MUCH better title. Sounds less like an unwanted side dish and more like a game. Some details:
