I think US is the only ones with it. The rest of us just get a messages box. which is fine by me, I'd rather a seperate box for messages then dumping it into friends.
 
the blades come up much faster but it seems as though im waiting just as long for the text and shiz to actually appear. Downloaded the free pic packs and they are all a bit shitty, but they are free at least. Set my bio and noticed when you scroll your friends list their gamerpic expands and you can see their bio which is pretty cool.
 
Lovely it's nice to see that you HAVE to have windows media centre to get any use out of this update. I'd say it's gone backwards, since I can't even use WMV now.

Everything is nice and fast now though the blades.

Xvid support looks great so far after downloading an additional update. Upscaled to 1080P to.

Has anyone been able to get subtitles to work with divx. Says Action Not Available.
 
I think it's awesome that, because I don't care about online multiplayer, I can't get the Xbox Originals themes and pics, nor the BioShock DLC. I love how that works. :/

Not for me it doesn't, it worked before the update and now the xbox won't even see my pc. But my pc sees the xbox.

What are you talking about? You can do all those things with Xbox Live Silver and not play (or have to pay to use) online.
 
Any way to automatically set movies to "full-screen"? Mine defaults to "Auto", which is 2x zoom... on a 1080p display this fills about 1/3 of the screen :( It takes about 5 clicks to set to "full-screen" every time I watch now.

Nope, all those things I mentioned have a message saying that they are only available to Gold members.

Yeah, they all have that little 'no' sign (the circle with a slash through it) where it usually has the price, and that's the message I get. Surely this wouldn't be some stupid thing just with Xbox Live in Australia? :lol

I'm going to venture a guess that it all depends on if they did when playing with a disc. Crash doesn't, and I'm going to assume that Halo, Psychonauts, and Indigo Prophecy don't either. I'm pretty sure Crimson Skies had widescreen support, but don't quote me on this.

No ability to choose networked computer in media section? n/m They switched the selection procedure. "X" brings it up.

Getting rid of trial games on your gamerscore is fucking worthless for your old clogged list. WFT Microsoft? Morons for leaving something like there in the first place that couldn't be fixed. My played games list is forever fucked. 57/121 games. Fucking idiots.

Press X. It brings up the different sorces. Fooled me for a little too.

Thats a shame. Hopefully they implement this in the near future. Apart from this its f'ing excellent. More smoother than XBMC and easier FF and RW functions.

Just tested the latest xvid episode of Dexter in its original form of release.

Playing flawless via streaming.
 
The xvid playback doesn't support qpel and custom quant it seems since not all xvids are playable so XBMC is still better than 360 at playing back xvid.
 
Xvid & DivX work flawlessly, though I 'll have to re-encode alot of my movies as it doesn't support older versions of DivX (less than 5.0 I think).

I'm in the UK and have the Inside Xbox thing, though maybe that's because I downloaded the update whilst signed in to my US account.

Migrating my gamertag to another Live ID was simple enough.

Indigo Prophecy (Fahrenheit) is widescreen on the original Xbox, and if played from disc on the 360, so I assume it's also widescreen when played from download. It's one of the few original Xbox games that were widescreen, though.

Well, that was to be expected with all the file formats and features that XBMC supports. None the less, love the increased speed of the dashboard but I do find the reorganised marketplace confusing so far.
 
What i find annoying in the MP is the Spotlight section, not needed if you ask me.

new arrivals is all that matters.

A WARNING for those of you want to migrate to a new Live ID and currently post on the Xbox.com forums: DON'T DO IT - you'll basically start with a new user, losing your forum levels and post history. You old posts will still be there but appear as posted anonymously.

The Xbox.com staff is working on resolving this issue, but for now don't do it.

Maybe I AM JOHN do you want to add this information to the OP?

I changed the source and nothing. Acknowledges my iPod but not the External HDD. Bah.

And I could never get streaming to work either. Opening up WMP shows "Xbox" as an option to connect with, but the Xbox won't acknowledge it. It does go through my Modem/Router THEN into my computer, which is most likely the whole problem, but even with that I can't get it to work that way.

I can guess it's due to the security features of the filesystem. You need to explore the system as a logged-in windows user... but MS could at least simulate this.

I assume you are trying to play the HD/720p .mkv versions of those, and .mkv is not supported.... the regular old .avi's work perfectly.
 
You can only change your Windows Live ID once every 30 days. I changed mine and then for heck of it tried to change it again and got that message.

The problem is your shitty router, not the 360. Either update the firmware on it and see if that fixes things (you may also want to try reconfiguring the network settings on the 360) or buy another.

I had the problem initially, but updating my router firmware got it signing in on startup no problem.

Yeah, I'm not sure I like that change. However, network performance is significantly improved here - thumbnails for images are pretty much instantly there (you had to wait a second or so for it to create them before) and you can even fast-forward and resume videos at a reasonable speed. (video performance in general seems a lot better now)

Things I hate: Lists just loop when you hit the bottom now. I want it to stop scrolling when I get there, letting me hit down to get to the top after, rather than looping.

Guide may be quicker coming up, but the time it takes to draw the text etc is no quicker. Nice and fast closing it though.

No option to stop games/dvds/hd dvds booting when inserted.

No 24Hz output for HD DVD, no 50Hz VGA option, and because people are going to start bitching about resolutions/aspect ratios, no 1920x1440 either.

They really need to let you turn off notifications for people signing in, or ideally let you choose what people you want to see sign-in notifications from.
 
I hope no one answered this already, getting to read the thread but I'd like to know a sort of obscure question...


Does this update by any chance add 1080p24 support to the X360 and more specifically, the HD DVD add on?


I've got the pio 4270 and it won't take 1080p60 from the 360. I'd really like to see some 1080p24 from the hd dvds. Apparently ps3 supports this with blu ray.


I didn't see it listed, so I'm not really expecting it, just thought it would be nice. I suppose I'll find out when I get home if no one can answer, thanks :)

edit2: Yes, I wish I could turn off ALL Live notifications. I hate it and it almost makes me wish I didn't have Live. At least I figured out how to stop messages, but seeing my friend log on and off while playing a sp game can take you out of the experience. It really sucked before I figured out how to turn it off during movies.
