All I remember reading prior to launch was how the Wii U had the most quality launch third party games of any system in history. But now that those games underperformed I guess it means they were never quality to begin with.
Let's be honest, Rayman isn't exactly a huge franchise. Origins didn't set the world on fire, despite being on every platform. So making Legends a Wii U exclusive, and releasing it a couple of months after launch when no one wants even buy the system, or even knows it exists, is a big risk.
Third parties are porting what they can when they can. The games I listed above are massive franchises on the ps3/360. What more do you want? What more can they realistically do?

If ZombiU was given the appropriate 8+ scores by the press, the game would have sold much better and enticed people into buying the console. The game is really fucking good and deserved better reviews.

If "late port" is a good enough reason to expect a game to bomb on PS360 (literally the reason Ubi is delaying the WiiU version), then its a good enough reason for a game to bomb on Wii U. Batman was over a year old, and ME3 launched at the same price as the entire trilogy collection on PS3. Even Assassin's Creed was a few weeks late.
In November? The console didn't even sell 2 millions in November. How can Mario get that number?

Black Ops 2 and AC came out at basically the same time as the other versions. A week or two difference doesn't matter.
And those games support off screen play, which is apparently a killer feature.

They'd have the PS360 cushion regardless, not like it really helped Origins. If the Wii U game they release in September is the exact same one that's finished now, the delay will have been a strategic blunder as it's almost assurred to sell less at that point.

4. At E3, announced that the games are also coming to ps3/360 in september.
They could have built their trust with nintendo and could have pushed some console units even.

Sonic all stars racing transformed sold over 230k by december(date might be wrong? Whenever Segas fincial meeting counted up to in any case), and that was competing against PS3, 360 and Vita versions at the time.
I'm certain rayman as the most high profile exclusive the system had coming would have done very well, at a very conservative guess, I'd put it at 300k units for withing a month of launch. Probably closer to 400-450k.
Maybe that isn't enough. I don't know
I could easily imaging that it would have had good legs at least until winter when all the major games start dropping (in september...) given the relatively sparse calender, but we'll never know now.

Pushing the launch date back 7 months to port to PS360 for simultaneous release...is it possible they're doing this to determine where/ which platform they'll be focusing on next gen? Maybe they're gauging to see where Raymans future belongs? Just a thought as I don't know sales of origins to compare.
I want third parties to release software consistently so there are no droughts, like they do for other systems.
To make it clear, I am equally annoyed by the lack of software for the Vita.
I know it may not be fair to expect each and every third party title to hit the console of my choice, but the reasons for lack of support so far have been ridiculous. It is a circular argument. Consoles need software in order to promote a healthy environment for developers to work. In order to do that, publishers need to be less risk averse and actually focus on the platforms in question.
Part of me suspects that publishers and, therefore developers, are going to tiptoe into next gen. I mean, if install base and worry about sales is the biggest factor in deciding if/when a platform gets support, what possible motivation are pubs going to have to produce content for Microsoft and Sony's next machines?
One of the big three are going to need to do something really special in order to attract the required numbers. Nintendo have clearly failed to do so, barring any future surprise. What have Microsoft and Sony got?

Why should they spend resources on Wii U?
Activision and Ubisoft are trying just that with COD and AC. Near simultaneous launch. That's 1:1 support compared with the ps3/360.
Nobody is going to dedicate special resources to make special Wii U games whenever Nintendo decides to have a drought in their lineup. Nobody does that for ps3 and nobody does that for 360. This is multiplatform era.

They are doing the most practical thing, which is giving it ports of ps3/360 titles during this next gen transition.
Two games from two pubs launching simultaneously does not equal sufficient third party support, sorry, and it is certainly not going to be moving any consoles for the buyer looking at the future.
It is not that third parties need to make games when Nintendo have a gap, it is that there shouldn't be a gap in the first place. If pubs can green light special games for the PS3, they can do it for the Wii U. And if they can do it for the 3DS, then they can also do it for the Vita.

These guys are trying to make money, not release games for a system just because it exists. It would be absolutely foolish to make a Vita game. The system is dead. That's throwing money down the toilet.
With Wii U, some pubs realize it is a ps3/360 equivalent, and so they try porting games over to see how they sell. Others are more cautious and take a wait and see approach. Can't blame them. Is it better to spend resources on next gen development or to spend resources figuring out how to develop for the Nintendo 360, when you don't even intend to make games for the actual 360 for much longer?

Putting Mario sales to perspective, I assume Zombi U has probably sold, in the best case scenario, few hundred thousand units, maybe 300k or something; and that is for every 3 person who bought mario, one bought ZombiU

Sitting on a finished game during a software drought is the most practical thing?
Releasing Rayman now on Wii U as a timed exclusive, doesn't stop them from being able to release the ports in September.
I own a Vita and a Wii U and got them both at launch full price, I'm scared to buy another launch console after all this shit it feels like i enjoy throwing away money. Lack of developer support will scare any potential customer away but what can we do if developers dont want to make games for the damn thing. The rules of the gaming industry should change because now its like sink or swim with no one to lend you a hand. On another note I guess thats the way of business only the strong survive while the weak get fed scraps until either they starve or die out. Rayman being exclusive to the Wii u was the only reason I purchased the thing so soon so i feel like a complete ass.

ZombiU sold under 40k total outside the US (100k+) and Japan (10k+)? I'd have thought PAL got at least 40k in bundles alone?
ZombiU had bad reviews and the demo was out late. ZombiU is not on every demo set. The Miiverse reaction after Rayman's demo was available in eshop was pretty strong and very positive. And a platformer should sell more on a Nintendo console than a horror survival. And Rayman was the key release of the 1Q until it was delayed.

You know how the Zombi U dev team put graffiti messages in the game periodically? Pretty sure I remember them writing there ''thanks for 200k unique players!'' or something like that. And that was a while ago. Still wouldn't be *great* numbers, tho.
Does your source include bundles or downloads? 250k would be my guess, which would not be terrible for a somewhat poorly reviewed M-rated title not suited to the expected demographic (like Rayman would be). And Zombi isn't in bargain bins or discounted, and will be bundled in a special US sku. It's numbers can continue to grow with the system, in other words.
Hmm, I wonder if that US bundle is finally what made them agree to patch that game's breaking bugs?
