Which shows how shitty a job WWE is doing building up a new generation of stars. Cena's the last one, Ambrose has potential.

The only way this ends up good is if Rock ends up in the Accolade at some point. You don't just bring the rock out to bury a guy you've been building as a heel main eventer for a year. If you're going to send Rock out, send him out to bury a no-hoper like Miz or Kane.

I don't think there's even been a wrestler as likable as Mick Foley in his late 90s push. Heck, I hated WWF back then and loved WCW, but when Schiavonne mentioned that he'd be winning the title later that night, I absolutely had to change the channel to watch it.

Bryan was pretty damn likable as well. He's at least in the same tier.
 
Only the great one can have such electrifying moments like this. Haven't watched wrestling in over a decade but this was pretty great. Damn I miss the attitude era :(

This was great and elevated Rusev to another level. Rock beating on Rusev is actually good for Rusev.

I could see both Lana and Rusev marking out behind their usual expressions.
 
-- Also, the reason I even brought up the idea of Rock vs. Rusev at WrestleMania on Wrestling Observer Radio last night was that it was a discussion point backstage at the show. Not in the sense that it is a match or is going to be a match, only that people were talking about the possibility given that Rock usually humiliates people much worse (Rock bottom, People's elbow, etc.), and they were very protective of Rusev overall. Plus, if Rock was going to make a surprise appearance and the only reason he was there was to just cut a promo on someone and lay them out, there are dozens of guys on the roster who could have been his foil. Personally, I can't imagine them booking that match, although I also couldn't imagine when I first heard about it last January that their idea for John Cena at WrestleMania was for him to wrestle Bray Wyatt, and they did it.

Didn't The Rock end up wrestling sloppily during his match with Cena? I think I heard he also tore a pelvic muscle early on because he was so fucking jacked he couldn't really take a bump worth a shit anymore.
 
Playoff baseball took precedence for me last night, but I checked back in periodically and happened to catch it when Rock was standing mid-ring before he started talking. Yay. It was pretty surreal because after Ambrose left the arena I was thinking, "Eh, nothing worthwhile is gonna happen til the last five minutes of the show now. I won't miss anything."

Kinda wish I'd been watching to get the full shock effect when his music hit

*edit* Rusev's pretty awesome in his own right, by the way. I've really enjoyed his matches of late. Especially his selling the ankle lock against Swagger.

I feel like he's only really likable to people who relate to him. Foley was a great average dude who appealed to every age and gender. I feel like WWE's tried to make a lot of people into big teddy bears, and Foley was the only one people bought.

I get the feeling Bryan's like one of those stereotypical paranoid types that controls his wife's outfits and shit. I don't trust his face.

Why? It'll only make them worse. Main roster WWE women's division is purposely kept awful.

That is what i most enjoy about these old guys coming back, it serves as a nice reference point to what once was and what it is today. And nobody can argue that, not even the biggest modern WWE fanboy can justify the difference other than what is plain for all to see.

That argument is dumb as hell, but to be fair, this show was in New York. They're always loud and expressive.
