I'm guessing about 60 or so.

I'm not actually one of them- I got approved last year but never posted until recently

edit2: heh, just now realized that my name has been tweaked (it used to be Smash_Bros_is_Awesome when I first posted on GAF- I guess some mod thought it was an eyesore :p)

Quite a few of the other juniors were saying they'd been waiting a year or more to be approved. Now unless they were skipped over (I don't know, is there even a queue for this sort of thing?), that means potentially a year's worth of new juniors.

So, um. My guess is "a lot."

(Myself, I've only been waiting since December. Missing out on the Persona 4 thread was only mildly painful.)

Awesome, really great work!

EDIT: This is final - claiming Mdk7's Goomba from the last page, meaning Inky is open for the taking. If I made a mistake and somehow didn't see that someone else had claimed Goomba, I can go back to Inky. Goomba is one of my favorite gaming characters so I couldn't pass it up, especially since you did such an amazing job Mdk7!
 
A different kind of request:

Could one of you guys post a video of your process?

I'm sure you guys use a tablet, but this style seems conducive to sketch+scan+photoshop as well (and thus, much more accessible to people who don't have tablets).

(I know there's a naked template dude, and some tips, but I'm thinking something more along the lines of what the Penny-Arcade guys do for their comics once in a while. Obviously this wouldn't be as involved.)
 
Aside from the avatars (which are still awesome) this threads gone to shit pretty quickly, eh? Shame

If I draw sketches on paper and send them as images can some gaffers adjust it on photoshop as avatars?

I didn't see this, I checked the thread almost every day.

Awesome this is great, fantastic! More than I could have expected. I changed my request just because people seemed to be skipping over mine, so I thought something easier would be done faster.

I dont have that much time these days, so i tend to go for easier ones.

Most may have no mouths, but if you look at the official ones, some of them do. People basically add them if it's necessary to keep it from looking too weird, I think, or if it's an animal.

And I know I'm kinda repeating myself, but if we have a (rather long) list of requests, we should really try to stick to it. If some contributors are drawing what they like 'cause there's nothing on the list that sparks their interest, then why we are keeping the list closed? Even though we are doing this for fun, I think the people on the list should still get the priority; I don't think it's nice (EDIT: for those who are waiting) to see new batches of great avatars getting pillaged by newcomers (nothing wrong with you guys! if they are free, they are free), when we have some users who have been waiting for their request since the beginning of July. Just my 2 cents.
 
Mdk7 i think your drawings are awesome! When I'm sick i'll be doing this all day.:lol :lol I agree with versipellis that you should be doing the list but you don't have to. It would just be great to have an artist with your talent helping us out.:D

I completely agree, and since I'm just a little Junior I don't want to give anyone the wrong impression that I'm (for example) stealing/taking priority. However, I do feel that if someone makes a random avatar and says it's up for the taking (like how I got mine from Mdk7), anyone should be able to snag it.

Don't worry. As I said, if an avatar is up for grabs, there's nothing wrong claiming it even if you're not on the list. It was just a suggestion to other contributors: I myself have some avatars ideas, but since I'm trying to help here (while honing my skills) I think the list has top priority (and it's a bit of a challenge, which is always good if you want to improve).

I bit the bullet and am now attempting a Jack Sparrow scribbletar.

I have to admit I'm surprised that the design is coming along nicely (on my napkin :lol). I'm not that great with GIMP so I'll probably post the result tomorrow or the day after.
 
Fixed walrus one for chapel, in safe 90x120 size. I resized from the large version, took the text from the small version, and hand-repainted a few of the letters, so I hope it looks okay and the artist doesn't mind. :D

Also, I know some may view it as unfair when artists jump the list, but I agree with the earlier person who said that you probably get more motivated artists and better avatars if you let an artist draw what they feel like drawing. Not to mention, there is less possibility of people drawing the same thing in case they don't announce it. :)

Truth, Max skipped down to me (I was about sixth from the bottom) and he did an amazing job. The artists have to "feel the spirit" to get the best results.

I hope Max will do stuff for others, because he did an amazing job with mine.
 
I understand the problems of a 'borrowing', so I'll return this avatar until I find one up for grabs that really gets my attention or until my request ever gets done (I guess I didn't like Chuck Norris that much after all - sorry!).

I'll be using my old avatar instead, but thanks everyone for those amazing avatars you're making!

Nah I never said I was doing any requests. I just chimed in to share my personal avatar I made for myself. Someone jumped on my back saying "NO MOUTHS!" I felt it was better with one, so I put it there gosh darn it.

Ok. Most to none of those have mouths though except the ones who needed it to bring out the character more. Others only have lines too, which were very subtle you barely noticed. It just doesnt look like a Scribbletar when the mouth is super imposed.

I just counted. 31 out of 103 of those avatars he made (which is biased, since I counted the animals or the helmeted people in the total) have drawn-on mouths, which is nearly a third of the ones he made. I think that's a higher percentage than in the fan art on this thread. :P

Basically I'm just saying to give the artists a little freedom. I think we have bigger things we could be worried about, like people switching avatars, people drawing avatars without SHADOWS, or people drawing avatars that aren't in the proper proportions. :lol Basically, as long as they're fairly close I don't think people care...ordering artists around too much isn't nice.
