to any gaffers in the Los Angeles area. The one place I have found bioshock is the Toys R Us in Alhambra, CA. I am enroute there now more details to come!
I told my friend about this deal last night right before 9pm and he was able to grab a copy at Toys R Us in Canton, Ohio. Just 20 minutes ago he went there to get me a copy and TRU claimed they sold out. He asked when they sold out and they said last night. Since he was the last person to leave the store and at that point TRU had tons and tons of copies, something didn't quite add up. Of course despite questioning further he didn't get a copy.
So it seems like either there is a crackdown or that particular worker is just worthless. 3 other stores I have called said they didn't have it or were sold out.

I'm in Albuquerque and just scored Bioshock /Madden for 83 bucks at a Toys R Us here in town. It was wierd, the dudes had it in a plastic bag under the counter, and it was not on display anywhere. I had to ask for it in person and the dude smirked back at me when I asked and said "Yeah, I'm pretty sure we can hook that one up"
It was like he knew he was breaking the street date. The game has no stickers on it though talking about a 'Do Not Sell before 8/21' on them (unlike Crackdown). So I proceeded to take my copy of Madden back to Gamestop. A little haggling for sure, but was able to get what I wanted.

Columbus OH area here... Called a local TRU this morning at 11, was told they just got the game in and would hold a copy until I got there at 12. Got there around 11:50 and was told the mgr. came through and put a hold on any further sales.
Hit up the other TRU (mentioned elsewhere in this thread) and was told they had sold out.

As I was talking she finally goes I put it on the shelf, but I didn't know it was Street Dated. I think she just needed to talk to someone because she just let it all out. Saying she's been here for 10 years and never has anything like this happened, the box didn't say anything about it being street dated, and she's very worried that she's gonna get in trouble.
I kind of felt bad for her. She was really trippin' out over it. She kept asking me if I think they're store will get fined and all this other mess. She was pretty upset and after letting her get it out for like 10 mins(she was an older lady, and was really nice) I finally left.
You could plainly see the Bioshock sticker behind in the glass case though, and I get they've been getting a lot of calls because management in TRU sent a pretty long email about the release of the game.

You should have complained. They said they would hold the game for you, you came out of your way, and they won't sell you the game.
Because of the street date, you probably wouldn't get the game, but I bet if you pushed you could have got some store credit/gift card for your trouble.

The game would have gotten the same kind of hype from the inevitable multiple 10 reviews that will be out between today and the 21st. Any gain that this breach of street date might bring will be offset by the people who'll have pirated the game instead of buying it because they couldn't wait.
