The BioShock installer will automatically patch to the latest version of the BioShock game application as part of the install process. YOU MUST BE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET IN ORDER TO INSTALL THE GAME.
A progress bar will show the state of the patch download. Please do not interrupt the download or deactivate your internet connection during the download. If the download does not complete successfully, you can attempt to restart the download using the Start/Restart button.
The downloader uses internet proxy and port settings as set up through Internet Explorer. If you have not set these, you can manually configure proxy and port settings in the BioShock installer. If you're not sure what values to put here, contact your ISP or 2K support at http://www.2kgames.com/bioshock/support/.
Some internet security software may detect this download as a Trojan or other compromisation of internet security.

1. The exe shortcut has no icon.
2. The exe jumps to that dos screen and says that.
3. Unplugging. Uninstalling. Changing the system date. Etc. Does Not work.
4. The game connects to an autopatcher at the end of install.
----> If you kill that autopatcher, it rolls back the install.
----> If you say you don't want to patch, it kills the install.
Good luck PC Users that live in the boondocks. You just got fucked by 2k Games.

GAZERK said:I usually don't buy LE's, but this one is quite convincing. The Big Daddy figurine (which will make a nice desktop piece) and the music (I actually like the oldies-type music) sell it for me. I'm not buying any other LE's like Halo 3 this year though. They just don't have enough material to justify the price.

Also, while it totally sucks that you can't play it early, thats fucking awesome that they actually went this far to protect their game.

It recently came to 2K Games attention that one of our retail partners prematurely sold some copies of BioShock prior to the game's official launch date. Retailers are typically shipped product in advance to ensure they can meet launch day demand on street-dated product. As a result, a few people were able to purchase the game early. Additionally, a TV advertisement for BioShock prematurely ran that incorrectly indicated that the game was available for purchase. 2K Games has reached out to our retail partners and is maintaining the street date of August 21st in North America and August 24th in Europe, when BioShock will be available at retailers. 2K Games is appreciative of the gamer excitement and critical acclaim leading up to the titles launch.

And whether or not you can walk in and expect to buy one without pre-ordering, here in my town they're all spoken for. Any comments from actual Gamestop employees for those who haven't pre-ordered?

I'm calling up the local ABC network now and telling them that they've been running commercials during LOST by mistake this whole time. They'll listen.Karma Kramer said:How the fuck do they run an ad on TV by mistake?

Just slots. note real gambling.Prvt.Pegleg said:The new Casino agrees. Anyways, a local store might have a copy. Can't remember the name of the store but it is located next to Payless Shoes on Buffalo Road. They might have run in early today and bought some copies from Toys R Us. I wouldn't bet on it since they buy their games from GameStop but it is worth a shot.
Big Nate said:Not sure how many CE's my local Gamestop got, but they had already opened one, which I got to reopen and mess around with. The cover on the dvd case inside is the same as the outside front of the CE's box (i.e. the simple Bioshock logo, not the cover of the regular edition). The Big Daddy is nice and heavy and very detailed. This is easily worth the extra $10 people, order it now before it's too late!
wonderkins said:I think you have it worse than some of us. You have to go in and see that box; it taunting you while you try to stay focused on work. Good luck friend!
