Well I was gonna buy a 2006 RSX. I have a nice paying shiny new job and stuff but my credit is so bad that I would be paying too much interests. I mean I could refinance it later but...

Now I'm paying a guy in vegas to correct my stuff.

So my civic died and I needed a car pronto so I bought a Manual 98 Nissan 240sx for the time being. I'll see that RSX again in a year and pay in cash.

The car is awesome for what it was back then btw.

Here in NYC they are fairly rare, though not uncommon - I'll see one or two every few days. I see more Corvettes, M3s, Porsches, and the like, much more than I see 370Zs. I get looks, questions, and pointing no matter where I go. People love the car. The guys who own these cars outside of the coastal areas, like the mid-West, say they never see a Z car - once every few months. American muscle is what runs there.

Ford Fiesta: under $20k, you can get 4 door sedan or 5 door hatchback, great mpg, maybe a little small for 5 people though if that's important.

Plus your roads are a lot better than NYC's. A huge chunk of the guys who post on the370Z.com are from California or Florida.

2011 Honda CRZ.
Had it almost 2 weeks now - love the 41 mpg!
Last car was an 2004 Eclipse GT - 26 mpg.

Screw the haters, I like the CR-Z and the styling is growing on me despite the huge overhangs. They're not quite my cup of tea (I think Hyundai is closer to the spirit of the old CRX with the Veloster), but I can dig it. :)

Is it fairly fun to drive? One of the best parts about the old CRX was how chuckable and light on it's feet it was.

Heh havent seen the CRZ called ugly too many times so far.
I think the back end could be better looking but I think from
the side and front it looks good.
The dashboard looks like a spaceship when you start it up lol.

My baby! 1969 VW Beetle. It was my first car, and I fixed it up all through high school. I've had it for 6 years, its not my daily driver anymore but I'll never get rid of it.

It's too bad I don't have a before picture for this, but this thing was beyond ugly. It was spray painted camo, both pans were rusted out and had to be replaced along with the wheel wells. Actually, Id say about 75% of the car was replaced, but it sure was fun.

My usual car, 2004 Nissan Maxima.

Bro-fist! Thanks! Luckily there wasn't much rust on mine, just a little below the back window that got taken care of when I got it painted. Yours looks great! what year is it?

A 64 I believe. Still has the old suspension that they fixed a few years after that. The camber of the rear tires was insane before we put those larger Goodyears on there. Fun cars to work on. I'd love to buy a Karmann Ghia one day too.

They are definitely fun cars to work on! Yeah the camber can look a little silly when they are raised with stock tires haha those Goodyears look good though.

In no universe is a 3 the same kind of ugly as a crz.

I like'm, wish they'd make a 3 door hot hatch.
 
I really like the CRZ. Hot car, IMO, but I guess there's no accounting for taste. haha

Powder coating goes for 50-75 a rim (locally). It was a way to customize my car without spending a lot of cash. Since I don't make enough money to afford an M series, or GTR, it was a good option for me.

The calipers are painted.

Just wanted to give people a frame of reference as far as how common the 370Z is compared to others:

2011: 4K sold YTD
2010: 10K sold
2009: 13K sold

For comparison's sake, in 2010 there were 81,371 Camaros sold, compared to 73,716 Mustangs.

Wow, thats crazy. I just saw a convertible and a coupe while I was in town today haha. I see a shit ton of Camaros and Mustangs too, those things are everywhere.

No. They just have a habit of buying lame cars. Somehow the brothers went from owning a Cadillac to a Nissan Cube to a Mini.

Ugh I've been seeing these more and more in my Japanese tuning magazines. From the tuning reports they are finally getting some larger companies behind tuning them.

This is bad since already liked the look of them to start. My problem would be I'd buy it, turn around and start to modify it.

Regarding that the Golf IV was released in 1997, it's incredible how good and modern it still looks.

Truly a timeless design.



Don't know if I posted it at some point already, but here's the Golf V6 from me five years ago. It was some insane fuel sipper, especially since the highways around here have no speed limits and you're always tempted to go full speed in that car :-) TDIs are so much more fuel saving, especially at high speeds.

Nope, my brother has always like them and after and my old mustang was in an accident he talked me into getting my other clubman.


Tried to go back to a 2011 Mustang after it but just couldn't so I sold and bought this clubman.

Never was a fan of the Cube myself, tried to talk them into something else but it was no use :(

I had a Hummer H3 at one time too ;)

For me its been 2005 Cadillac SRX -> 2006 Hummer H3 -> 2007 Mustang GT -> 2008 Mini Cooper Clubman -> 2011 Mustang -> 2011 Clubman (current)
 
This may be a good place to ask... I have a 2002 Hyundai Elantra GT that's getting long in the tooth. ~100K miles, needs breaks, rotors, a paint job, and the clutch was recently replaced but it just doesn't quite feel right now. I was thinking of a) upgrading the shady parts and adding some mods, or b) selling it and maybe getting a car that's more commonly modded to work with.

The one thing, it's my daily driver, so I need to be able to drive it most of the time. I do have a little pick up truck that will get me to work in a pinch.

Thoughts?

Love the Golf, but using anything other than stock rims makes you look like a drug dealer. Goes for most cars though. Probably because it pretty much never looks better than the rims envisioned by the original designers.

Here in the Netherlands the Golf is the most common victim of this type of bad taste though, it's now easier to just not buy the Golf altogether to avoid association with the car's demographic.

Depends on the car. Standard BMWs in the 90's had wheel caps and unpainted bumpers.

Yes, well I suppose I should clarify: there are usually a couple of factory installed options available and those on that BMW you posted probably belong in the cheaper end of the spectrum. And of course more expensive (but original) BMW aluminum rims will obviously look better than steel + hubcaps. But that goes without saying.

Still, still... I would probably prefer those over some of the horribly trashy stuff people put under their cars. This way it at least looks like something you could show up to a job interview with.
 
I drove back to my parents' to celebrate the 4th, and I found out my dad had pulled out my old hot rod from the garage that I left it in when I went off to college, so I thought I'd snap a picture with my phone before I left:

This was actually my first car (I was a spoiled teenager), and I drove it to and from school every day until we finished building another hot rod, and then I started taking that. So much fun to drive. That pipe below the door is a secondary exhaust with a spark plug in it - there's a switch on the dash to ignite it and shoot some flames (obviously very illegal, which is why the ends are capped).

After a few days of cruising around in that, I got back in my '98 Civic and headed home :(
