When it was relatively stock, it would pull from 0-60 in just under 6 seconds at the top of 2nd gear. Now, the T56 coupled with 3.55 gears in the rear should have it moving along well beyond 60 mph at the top of 2nd gear.
Taking the weight and power and gear ratios into consideration after the swap, if it hooked up with a good launch at the drag strip (which it won't be doing, but let's be hypothetical), it would easily hit 60 mph in 3-4 seconds.

Well, I posted pictures and text detailing exactly what it was... but I forget not everyone knows these things. Sorry buddy. No harm meant.tarius1210 said:How is it a joke post if I'm asking a question?

When I shipped my F20C and transmission, the total shipping weight was 540 lbs. Minus the pallet and materials, I'd guess the stock engine and transmission weigh around 510 or so together.
A T-56 weighs 140 lbs dry, and an LS2 fully dressed weighs around 450, so that puts us at 590 total. Taking 510 out, putting 590 in, so we're looking at 80 additional pounds from the engine and transmission alone. The Ford differential actually weighs about 5 pounds less than the stock S2000 diff, which was nice to discover, so total drivetrain weight difference is only about 75 pounds, which is a small child passenger for all intents and purposes.
Fast forward to now--the battery has been relocated rearward, and the turbo is also a rear-mount setup. That's a hefty chunk of weight that would otherwise be up front but is now closer to the rear wheels. The intercooler is additional weight, the new radiator is probably heavier than the stock piece judging by size alone (haven't had a chance to weigh either of them), and all of the exhaust and intake plumbing adds up... but hopefully you can see where I'm going with this--it won't be hard to compensate for the weight difference at all. When it's all said and done, I'm hoping to get the car down under 2700 pounds and retain the 50/50 weight distribution.
This car was originally being built to run in the Modified class of Redline Time Attack, but they've now restructured that event to showcase professional teams, so I'll need to find a new series. Built for road courses--no trips down the 1/4 mile for this one.

Yeah, you can find yourself sideways in a very big hurry if you aren't careful. I think what frightens/excites me most is the short wheelbase of the S2000. Longer wheelbases typically give you more time to react than shorter wheelbases, as the rear end of the car has to swing around a greater distance to achieve the same slip angle as a shorter wheelbase car. Basically what this means is I have a smaller margin for error before the car exceeds a certain slip angle and surrenders to an uncontrolled slide. It's going to be a very challenging car to drive at the limit. Very challenging.Ettie said:I thought about doing this to my miata minus the crazy turbo business. What really makes me think twice about it is the lack of traction control. For what I'd spend getting the LSX in the miata properly I could likely buy a used vette with the traction control intact.
I wouldn't be racing the car, but I have to imagine the torquey v8 would put a miata or S2000 sideways in a hurry, making it kind of less fun to drive than something that minds the p's and q's for you. All of that said, I've only had two "sports cars" and neither of them produced enough torque for me to really get a grasp on the back end getting out from under you when driving aggressively. Is it manageable?

So I have the stock GPS upgrade on mine but I'd LOVE to get some fogs done. Does doing so require a new front bumper or fascia to accomidate space? I would not want to 'mod' my stock bumper to make room, I'm all about clean look.
LED interior sounds extremely hot, do you have any pics?
