One of the most responsive and smoothest cars I've ever driven; only complaint is that I only get 16-17 miles per gallon-- I thought i would have gotten better averages.

VQ37 was designed with spirited driving in mind, and for lighter cars like the 370Z. So when it's stuffed into a heavy sedan, which is coupled to an AWD system...you can bet that mileage will suck. I used to have an FX35 and now I have an Audi A6 4.2 - the Audi's V8 provides on average an extra 20-40 miles more per tank over the Nissan's V6. With a ton more power to boot. :)

This car is making me happy. All I want to do it drive and when I am behind the wheel, my problems seem small.[/QUOTE]

Wait...what the fucking fuck?!? I thought they only offered these in the hatch/wagon models now? Do you live in the US?

Haha I'm 20! Parents paid for half and other half was from my own savings.

I have to be nosy and ask what year and how much you ended up paying for it. I'm sort of "shopping" and I'd like to know what I'm in for.

Thanks =)

That hasn't been the case for the past year now.

It's AWD and heavy as all hell. Neither of those are friends with MPG. :(

My Audi is AWD, heavy, AND has a 4.2L V8. Gets 17/23. Same as the Infiniti. Highway MPG is actually very underrated on my Audi too - I can average 30MPG easily at 70-80MPH. It's more about refinement, Nissan still has some ways to go in that department with Infiniti.

The problem with Infinitis is that the VQ tends to rev high before every shift, and its gearing is too aggressive - this is a cost cutting measure of Nissan's, they use the same 7-speed transmission and engine combo (designed for the 370Z and G37 Coupe) on their luxury sedans and SUVs. I personally don't mind, but those looking for Lexus-like MPGs should not look for it in an Infiniti.

Hey GAF, i'm 18 and have saved a great amount of money over the years (I have about 6000 saved) for a car to purchase for my own.

I've went to an auction, checked craigslist, combed through the penny saver; you name it.

Thing is, i'm a bit picky to what i'm looking for (sedan 4 door with under 100k miles with a clean title and auto trans) and my luck has been something short of being very poor to what i've been finding.

Recently though, I found on craigslist a 2004 hyundai Elantra and was excited enough to show to my mother and father to see their take on it. My father said it looked fine but my mother swears it's not a good deal being priced at $5500 with only 77k miles so she doesn't even want me to check it out. Yeah, i'm pretty pissed about that.

Supposedly she had coworkers who drive "brand new" hyundais that have broken down in about a year.

Can someone tell me about the Hyundai engines and if she's telling the truth or her coworkers are just a bunch of morons?

EDIT - here's the car:

According to TrueDelta, the 2004 Elantra is about average for it's segment in terms of reliability, while Edmunds gives it 5 stars. I don't have a CR sub, so I can't tell you what they've got to say. KBB pegs it's value at about $5565 assuming good condition from a private seller (Edmunds has it's value pegged at $4875), and the mileage is correct/normal for a 2004 car.

Hope this helps.

Have this for 1.5 years now, just a '06 VW Golf V 2.0.

I must say, I'm pretty happy about it. Fast (imo of course), doesn't consume much (< 5.5 liters/100km) not too big but plenty of space in the back and boot and so far, it hasn't let me down. Also, it's the car I got my license with, so it's probably going to be hard to sell it when I'm ready to buy a new one...

Oh, and a lot of you have great taste in cars I must say.

My baby! 1969 VW Beetle. It was my first car, and I fixed it up all through high school. I've had it for 6 years, its not my daily driver anymore but I'll never get rid of it.

I have a '95 Ford Explorer for my daily driver, and a '08 Sierra 1500 Extended Cab company truck I drive at work everyday.

Gorgeous. I'm putting in an order for a 2012 TDI. CANNOT WAIT.

Since posting-- I've been playing around with the M a bit.

Driving in ECO mode-- I average 22-23 MPG under the same conditions, which is 70 percent city; 30 percent highway. But it drives weird as hell. When I accelerate it sometimes feels like the car is breaking on its own. When trying to pass a car-- the acceleration is very sluggish. It saves gas-- but it defeats the purpose of buying and driving this type of car.

In its normal mode-- its about 19-20 MPG.

And Sports mode 17-18 MPG. If gas prices wasnt $4 a gallon where I'm from-- I'd keep it dialed her all the time. its very smooth-- and accelerates 0-60 in 4-5 seconds.

Still mad scared with ECO. its like car sabotage. needs to be refined.

You mean 5-6 seconds. No way that car gets to 60 mph in under 5 secs.

Duk's M3 can do it four...an AWD M37 can't.

An M37 does the 0-60 in 5.9 seconds. According to internets, anyways.

Oh man, reminds me of my old job. A dude on the street I worked on had one of these (or something very similar), and took every opportunity to drive it like a jackass, tailgate me coming to/from work, etc. I was driving a tiny little Civic at the time, so all I ever saw out the back when he did this was chrome and that giant GMC logo, lol. It was like something out of a cartoon.

Yeah, I like black cars. The Firehawk was sold and died in an accident last year or so. So I still have the Goat and the G8.

Good to see more LSX guys on here!

I was hesitant to post pics since I did not want to appear boastful or egotistical, but face it my rides are pretty bad ass. Both of my cars are going to be in then next Fast and the Furious movie.

Enjoy!

Man, I rarely see that car in NYC.

They are fairly uncommon. Nissan only sells a few thousand 370Zs a year, which truly makes for a unique car.

They must ship them all down here, then - there's a ton of them driving around where I live.

Beautiful.

I always though the last gen WS6 was one of the most aggressive looking cars around. Sad that well never see it again. :(

Not my shot but exactly the same as my pickup (even down to the custom headlights).

Mitsubishi L200 Warrior Double Cab 2004.

Will be trading in soon towards a brand new Hilux.

Where? If you're in the US, the three most common areas for Zs are: California, Florida, and New York. And to a lesser extent Texas.

Bingo. It's not that it's ubiquitous in the way a Camry is, but I see at least one or two cruising around every day. The local Nissan dealer has three for sale right now (base model w/ A/T).

Yep, sunshine states like Cali and FL have a booming sports-car market. It's no surprise at all, it doesn't snow in most of Cali and Florida, so there's very little seasonal concern. Plus your roads are a lot better than NYC's. A huge chunk of the guys who post on the370Z.com are from California or Florida.

So I'm looking to get a new car. I mainly care about MPG, has to be US or Euro, 4 doors and 5 seats. If you guys had $20,000 cash, what would you get?

Yeah, I live in California and I see them all the time, I didn't realize they are rare everywhere else. I really like the look of yours by the way!
